To be able to cross my legs - I honestly don't know if I ever could. I wasn't a huge child, but its so long ago that I can't recall. To be able to go out in public (a train to NYC, out to eat) and not feel like the biggest person, be the biggest person or get made fun of (that has happened several times in NY City). To not shop in a plus size store. It's been since high school and I'm 40 now. To lose weight and finally keep it off (I've been successful at losing before). To live longer - I want to be there for my family. I have an amazing and supportive husband and a wonderful son, who also struggles a bit with weight (not as much as I ever have). To be an example for my son. To prove everyone wrong. To rock pretty dresses and shoes with wedges/heels. To feel confident. To live free of this fat that has trapped me pretty much my whole life. I don't know what a thin version of me would look like. I haven't met her yet. To say I'm "100-whatever lbs" - OMG it really is one-derland because I haven't been there since high school. I could go on, but I won't. I keep worrying about the surgery so much...am I doing the right thing, all of this, but since my small list is so large, I think I know I'm making the right choice. It is hard. I wish you all the best, every day.

I had my surgery yesterday! I feel fine. It’s 6am & @ 8, they’ll take me for an x-ray to check for leaks. If all is OK, I’ll be homeward bound! Then the work begins!
Gas hasn’t been an issue. A few little burps that’s all. I measure burps by what would delight a 9yr old boy. The bigger & louder- the better! They would have been disappointed with mine! LOL!!
I’m a bit sore at the incision sites, but not real pain. I’m looking forward to getting on my new road to a better, healthier lifestyle!

I remember that now. Yep, I have to get my BMI down in order to replace the entire knee. LOL, maybe will be ortho surgery siblings too!

One of my favorite purees (at least allowed on my plan) was ricotta bake (google eggface ricotta bake). I could eat it on puree, but it tasted and felt like real food. i added pureed spinach to mine and it was delicious. I still eat this all the time 9 months out
Also, for your veggie fix, I loved pureed spinach and pureed sweet potatoes.

Girl you are rocking it! I was hoping to keep the NO hunger feeling for at least more than 2 days..BUT, I do feel the restriction which is critical. My gosh you are losing weight fast! How awesome!!!
My body just does not want to let go of the weight. I'm...9 days post-op and have lost a whopping 8 lbs. I know that probably seems like I'm ungrateful..but maybe I've just read too many post of incredible 10 - 12 lb losses per week after surgery. And these are RECENT posts..lol.
You know..I guess I'm not that far off from that...and I'm very very inactive due to a messed up knee but I've been trying to push myself to walk more each day regardless.
I'll just keep focusing on putting one foot in front of the other. I know I'm in major ketosis as the test strips cannot get any deeper purple than the highest range one. Sometimes I see it slip into the next highest one (1 shade down?0 so I know my overall calories are low. A couple times a week I will chart my "eating" and I range between 300 to 350 calories a day. I really would like to keep it under 200 but I do not know how much that would help my weight loss.

I also was sleeved on the 22nd. My schedule is WK 1- Clear Liquids & broth. WK2 - Protein Shakes, cream Soups (no lumps) WK3 & 4- pureed food. Fat-free gravies, SF pudding, low fat ricotta, small curd cottage cheese.
WK 5-skinless chicken breast, fish filet, turkey...
So far, I'm over-lapping weeks 1 & 2. I'm staying with clear liquid most of the day, with a shake for 1 meal. I haven't been feeling hungry, so I'm not going to rush it.

My doctor doesn't have me taking any Vitamins. I go in every 2 weeks or so (started a month before surgery) and get s B12 shot & an IV of nutrients, mineral, etc. (potassium, magnesium)
I haven't had any problems with the liquid diet. I am feeling NO hunger. I saw my dr. yesterday. He's pleased with my progress. 30 pounds! 10 were pre-op & 20 post. I'm nearly 2 weeks post-op. I have stayed with the Clear Liquids & may alternate clear with Protein Shakes. Doc says, "fine". He'd rather I take it slow than try to move too fast.
I have an assortment of drinks, Soups & shakes that I purchased here on the BP Store. They're quite good.
I hope all your difficulties smooth themselves out. I guess I'm just lucky.
Now... If I could only come up with some winning lottery numbers! LOL!

Protein first the size of a deck of cards, then veggies, you should be full then. Don't drink with meals 30 min. prior to or after. Try to get as much protein as you can. Stay away from carbs and starches and sugars.

A few people lately have told me I am exercising too much. Going to the gym and taking classes is something I love doing now. I don't go multiple times a day. I feel healthy and fit. But several people really close to me have expressed "concern" that I've transferred my food addiction to an addiction to exercise and I am overdoing it and using it as a new coping mechanism. These people never said a word to me when I was literally eating myself to death. I don't know how to feel. I don't feel like I am overdoing the exercise - I give myself time to rest and work different muscle groups each time or alternate with cardio. I am kinda angry that now these people are giving me a hard time about something I feel is actually bettering me physically and emotionally, when they sat idly and watched me eat bags and bags of fast food and gain 150lbs in the last 9 years and never expressed any concern over that. Today I hit 130lbs down in less than 9 months and I'm well on my way to my personal goal weight well before my one year anniversary. I am finally proud of myself and confident and angry that these people aren't happy for me and are now telling me I am taking things to the extreme.
I was about to apologize for the rant, but realized I'm in the right forum. LOL.

My surgery date was 7/22/2019, so tomorrow will make my official 1 week.
i think I may be a (lucky) anomaly. I have not experienced any difficulty in drinking my Water & Protein Drinks. I haven't had much gas. While I was sore & swollen for the first 4 days, today most of the swelling is gone.
The best thing for me? I'm NOT hungry! I'm lovin' this! I hope it lasts.

I was on 1000mg of metformin 2x per day and around 40 units of insulin and still had an a1c above 7. I went home after surgery on no meds. At my 3 month checkup my a1c was 5.1. I just had a health screening at work the other day (now almost 6 months post-op) and my fasting blood sugar was normal. It feels great to be on this side of diabetes!

My surgery was done on Monday. I didn't have a ton of pain. Soreness, yes. Discomfort, yes. But no doubled over in pain. Yeah... coughing is rough - but mine mostly vanished by day 4. The worse part for me is getting in & out of bed. That's because I'm dealing with a bum hip as well.
I refuse to think about what I can eat later. I need to change my opinion on food & not let it rule me.

I remember Richard Burton, the Actor, saying He was innately painfully shy but nobody believed him. He was such a Good Actor he donned a Facade and nobody knew the Real Richard inside. This has some + but a Whole Lot of - and that was difficult to constantly maintain.
What might look like slothful laziness to others might be "You being Kind to You", nobody can blaze forth on all burners without getting a little singed yourself. And in the long run, YOU were not. put on this 🌎 Earth just to pleases others but to live, love, appreciate and respect YOU, when all else fades, How Did You Treat You? Have I always been this bright? Nope, spent years and years, from my parents who werent sure a daughter was a Good Idea, through a husband who thought I should only be an extension of HIM and unto children , at least 1 of the 3 , did and still takes Me for granted, oh I was an Handy Doormat for everyone to Wipe their feet on, not until my Bariatric decision, where I said ITS TIME FOR ME, after the parents and my husband the Late Lamented had died, the children had acheived Adulthood, did I take the time to Believe in ME, that I deserved a chance to LIVE instead of dying OBESE, SAD and in PAIN. And when I finally grew up into Real Person-hood I have been accused of being strident, well maybe I am making up for years and years of being Victorine the Victim--- I am a Thinner Resilent Winner and I'm Living with a new-Found Gusto, had their opportunity to KILL ME, didn't and they'll need to just live with it NOW!

I'm 5 days post-op (VGS). I have been doing well. My incisions are healing. The only real sore one is the stomach retrieval one. There's still swelling around that one. I have been doing surprisingly well with my Water, clear fluids & broth. I never did suffer the gas problems some others have had. The Protein water I was drinking pre-op, now seems super-sweet. Now I mix it with plain water & it's fine.
The best part? I am NOT hungry!! Woot! Woot!
My problem is walking. I have a bad hip & walking is very difficult. I need a hip replacement but had to lose weight before I could get it done. There's s great, paved walking trail not too far from me. I think I'll load my 'rollator' into the car, head over there & see how I do. At least I'll be able to stop & rest easily.
I'm just going to keep on keepin' on!

I am so like this. One thing I am doing in my house, because I am on the presurgical diet and entertainment by food is not an option, is working on a list of fast tasks. Things I can do in 10 to 30 minutes. Otherwise, besides going to the pre-paid gym sessions, I would stay home with the curtains closed. That is my nature. Glued to the recliner.
    My list of tasks include:
. Load or Unload the dishwasher
. Do a load of laundry
    . vacuum
. sew that button on the shirt (the one that has been waiting 10 months
. steam the wrinkled clothes that have been waiting for weeks.
    . clean the fridge
I set the timer to 30 minutes and tackle a task or two. At the end of the day I feel better and it keeps my mind off food.
I am avoiding going out because I am also a recovering shop-acholic. That is one of my fat time things to do. Avoidance.
To mitigate the risk of shopping for things I do not need:
I have a list of errands to run that I postpone because it requires I wash my hair, put on something other than sweats and leave the house AND not shop or stop at starbucks! I just focus on the list, bring a big bottle of Water and try and drink it before I get home. Also: I am wearing my best clothes because they will be too big next month and I might as well! Also, been putting on makeup cause, why not. Anything to get my mind off food. I smile and say "thank you" to everyone. Ask the clerks "how is your day?" Then, they smile back at me and I feel I have achieved a small thing.
Finally, another thing I did was ease myself into the pre surgical diet by using noom, the app, which set a 1200 calorie goal for me, and 3K for steps. Why not do that? It helps to motivate you, noom helps you work on that lazy bones attitude too.
Good Luck. Getting outside feels good once you actually get yourself out the door!
