I had my surgery yesterday morning and I am still in the hospital. The first 9 hours after waking up were extremely painful and rough, not gonna lie. However, I have been feeling awesome ever since then! You will be fine! Take care, my prayers are with you! 😊

Sorry, i know i am late! I had my surgery on 5/6! First couple days weren’t too bad! Prepare to stay more than one night in hospital because some doctors require it if you haven’t passed gas! Thankfully mine did not! Remember to walk walk walk after surgery! The gas pain is unreal! No one could have prepared me for it! So walk it out! Once i got home it was a little harder for me. For one i am a side sleeper. I am still laying on the couch bc i cannot lay flat or on a certain side. But i hear this gets better with time and everyone is different! I still struggle with getting the right amount of Water and Protein in! At first just the sight or smell of food made me want to throw up, but not i am hungry but it is still hard to get them down because i feel so full constantly! Also, the feeling of not pooping for 6 days is completely weird lol! I had to have the doctor order me some Miralax to help my process along quicker! Prayers for yall who are having surgery this month! It’s been rough but i know will be worth it!

Clean out your diet again. You cant stop all of the reasons for hunger returning but you control what you eat when it does. Try eating (clean lean dressing free) salads
I will always advocate for this because its really hard to gain *a lot* of weight from romaine, iceberg, kale and spinach leaves but really easy to feel full
sugar free liquids blended with ice feel more substantial and decadent (Its how Starbucks can get away with charging so much for their frappacinos)
Now that warm weather is here try experimenting with flavor combos making very low cal high flavor slushies and smoothies.
You can TOTALLY win control 🏆

I had surgery on Monday there was some pain but the nurse told me if I walk the hallway it will help with the pain so I walked soon as I was put in a room. It helped with the gas pain as well.

I had surgery on Wednesday and as soon as I was able to stand up I took off walking. You have to walk to move the gas pain around. I’m still very sore and needed help to stand, but I knew I had to push through the pain. Make sure you ask for pain meds to make you comfortable and try to walk as soon as you can. I hope you feel better soon, take care.

    Hi! Thanks for starting this!
I have a surgery date of June 3rd for RNY. I am 48, a mom to two great boys and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 28 years. I am an elementary education teacher and a special education specialist, though I have taken time off while the kids are/were in school.
I decided to do this because I have sleep apnea, high BP and my family is strongly diabetic. At 5'8 and 275 pounds it was time to get real, without some serious changes this was not going anywhere good.
Really looking forward to hearing from everyone as we move forward!

Guys, they called from pre-admission to schedule my pre class and final tests today and I panicked a little. Maybe because I just realized I am 12 days(almost 11) away and that eating is literally about to stop. 🤣 I guess it’s just getting really real now and I’ve been talking about this so long I feel like maybe a part of me thought I would never get here. Is anyone else panicking a little here in the 11th hour? I’m afraid I’m going to break the rules, hurt myself or worst of all, not lose weight.

I'm Samantha I'm 26 and I'm around 390 and I'm having the bypass on June 6th! I feel like it's been a struggle to get here from the seminar at the very beginning. My Dr doesn't require a pre op diet just a 24 hr fast before surgery.

I would like to here from some members that may have had weight gain a year out from surgery. I know it’s from my eating habits and poor exercise regime. I have started back this week to exercise and I need to work on improving my eating habits. I started at 250, my lowest was 172, and right now I’m 186. My ultimate goal was to get to 150. I feel like such a failure, one of my biggest fears of having the surgery was failing and I feel that has happened. I looking for encouragement, guidance and I’m hoping that being honest and up front in a large group will help with accountability. Thank you for your support in advance. MKT

You haven't failed, my goodness, you kept 64 pounds off! That's GREAT! You will be able to get those 14 pounds back off with tracking your calories, getting in 64 oz of Water, and getting in 60 oz of Protein daily. You can do this!

I am having the sleeve on June 3rd (right round the corner). I am 55 years old, 5'5", and my highest weight was 292. I currently weigh 275, so we are about the same. I honestly will tell you I am feeling fear at this point, with only days left of "life as I know it". I can also honestly tell you that I do NOT fear being thinner, healthier, and more in command of what I put into my body for nourishment. The honesty from me continues here ~~ I do NOT like wearing a size 24 pants, or a 2 XL shirt, or buying clothes that are not fashionable, and cost more. I do NOT like feeling like the "fat girl" in any room I walk in, although I have a very outgoing personality. I do NOT like feeling unattractive and I do believe first impressions count in this world we live in. So, in order to do this, I am going to conquer those fears, and embrace the "new me". I am also hypothyroid, and have been through menopause, and my primary care doctor has told me that I need to lose over 100 lbs., and this is my best option. He said only 2% of the population is able to lose that kind of weight on their own, and I know I am not in that 2%. So I am biting the bullet!! Feel free to follow my progress on here if you like ~~ and good luck to you

Are you guys getting your sleeve done in Mexico? I had mine two years ago by Dr Illan who is wonderful but I am going to go back for revision surgery to get the mini bypass because I lost weight but never got to my goal.

Good luck with your decision. The surgery is a tool and the rest is up to us to eat right and exercise. It's harder to do on your own when you have thyroid issues (me too!).

Thank you both for responding My surgery will likely be in November (6 months ins waiting period). I've having it done at University of Penn since I do have insurance. I do hear a lot of people do the Mexico option which is great that the option is there. Good luck to you both!

    Hello All!
I've been down this road before where I wanted to have the surgery then backed out, twice actually! Anyways I called this morning and made the appointment to start the process. The last time I went very close to having surgery and the 2nd time I only went to the first appointment. I'll confess a part of me chickened out but another part of me was like "I'm losing some weight.. I can do this myself". Yeah that's a lie. I'm going to be 46 and my 2 boys soon to be adults it's time for me to focus on my health. I can't live like this!
I am currently 262 but my highest the other day was 265. I'm so disappointed in myself for letting it go this long. I do have hypothyroidism which doesn't help any.
I look forward to getting to know all of you!

I am almost 2 yrs out from surgery. I had gotten myself a pair of Miss Me Jeans for my “goal jeans” (from 24 to 14’s). Back when I was a 24- I mentally couldn’t imagine myself ever be close to a 14. (I seriously thought this was too far fetched of a goal) I would love to be there. I even took pics of the 2 pairs of jeans together that was I would have a visual of my success. Well- here I am rocking those 14’s. I probably could go down to 12’s! (Sw 280 to CW 203) Why can I not be happy with this?? I still feel so fat. Almost more conscious than I was when I was larger. It’s like my upper belly area is like a mega muffin top! 😩 I’m starting to be afraid- even if I were to lose more weight- would I even be happy with it. So depression comes in & says.. why bother trying.
