Hi guys!! Like Alex, recovery of RNY was very manageable. I still haven’t passed any gas, so belly is still pretty distended. But pain is under control and I was able to tolerate Bari 3 diet today, sooooo I just left the hospital!! Yay!

Alex76, good luck today!! You’ve got this!! The nerves went away as soon as they gave me Versed and were wheeling me to OR asking about my babies. Great way to fall asleep...

They used a robot which I guess has better outcomes for pain and people go home quicker usually

Finally awake enough... Dr said surgery couldn’t have been more perfect when he talked to my fiancé. I Haven’t seen him yet. Slept most of the day... lots of morphine PCA which is helpful. Just got up tonpee for the first time, wasn’t too awful. Because of my csections I had more scar tissue so he had to do a 6th incision. I had RNY. Keeping fluids down. Drank 2oz in the last hour.

We are surgery twins. Are you home yet?Your experience sounds just like mine. I was very distended yesterday but I begged to go home. So i went home on post op day 1! And I slept a glorious 5 hours which was amazing since post op day 0 I didn’t sleep at all. I had an allergic reaction to morphine PCA so they switched me to fentanyl which eased the pain better but only lasted such a short time due to its short half life. They then started me on oxys which I am on now. I’m crossing my fingers I won’t need those after today.
Still a little painful going from laying to sitting to standing and vice versa but overall I am so surprised with how well I’m getting around.

My six incisions are open to air. He glued them. They look good: just a little drainage on them but they said as long as it’s nonpurulent serosanguinous it’s fine.
Keep me in the loop on how you’re feeling!!

I too finally am able to pass gas and I had a BM. I’ve never been so happy in my life. BM still loose, but I would assume it’s going to be that way for awhile. It was small too. As far as Water and Protein goes, once your belly isn’t distended anymore and you move some of it around, I’m sure protein and water will come easy.
As far as your temp, I would wait it out. It’s not technically a fever yet as we can fluctuate up and down from 98.6. If you get low grade (100.1) and above which chills and such, I would call the doctor.

amaynard reacted to ARMoma45 in July 2019 - Surgery Schedule
Don't let the setbacks cause you to give up on surgery. I've had numerous setbacks myself and it's been about 15 months since I started this journey...and finally i'm scheduled for July 22nd. I was starting to give up after insurance denied me but somehow I kept going and barring anything happening, i'll be post wls in less than 3 weeks.
My surgeon's office required that I call my insurance company and ask a series of questions regarding my coverage and any requirements before I even met with the surgeon the first time...and we still messed up lol.
Everything happens for a reason and I truly believe that my setbacks were allowing me more time to prepare myself for surgery.

amaynard reacted to Mrs. Hayes in Adhesions and RnY?
I had an adhesion from an OLD c section and an old hysterectomy. I got my bypass and the next day ended up in emergency surgery from a bowel blockage due to said adhesions! I had 3 blood transfusions and was in ICU for an entire week. With ANY abdominal surgery there is always a risk if adhesions. The blockage was not due to my bypass unfortunately it happened a day later.

My doctor was concerned about adhesions too because of prior abdominal surgery, but my RNY was successful. Good luck to you!

I am ‘in process’ without a surgery date yet. I am a candidate for RNY because of GERD, sugar addiction, comorbidites but I have had three previous abdominal surgeries and my surgeon said adhesions could require me to have a sleeve instead. Did any of you have successful RNY despite having adhesions?

Today I’m officially down 70lbs in 3 months and 9 days. I struggle with bipolar and this progress is what keeps me going each day. Mental illness does not discriminate.

I am 3 ½ months out and have lost 60 pounds. I arrived at Onederland this past Friday at 198. I have not seen the 100's in over 20 years! My next milestone is to achieve another loss of 68 pounds to settle around 130ish. I'm only a petite 5'0" frame, and prefer not to look "just chubby". Very thankful I'm no longer morbidly obese, and continue to strive toward normalcy to the fit and trim range. Looking forward to a much different and better end of 2019 holiday season. I love my new sleeve and the endless possibilities...

Congratulations to all for your weigh downs and continued best wishes. Happy spring!

The same thing is happening to me as well. In fact, it's the stomach and not the pouch that likes to talk. That and the intestines say hi even more often than my lonely stomach. Ive never been so consious of where my stomach and internal organs are in all my life.
In August I get back to my work as a teacher and hope it has calmed down by then. Otherwise I have to tell my students that it's my tummy rumbling and asking for food.
