I can relate - I have thought about surgery for YEARS - but always found more reasons to not have surgery than to have surgery - until I turned 50 and somehow I started to look at things differently. I started my process last year and had my surgery on Dec 26, 2018! I still have a looong way to go, but I am so very happy that I did it!!
Good luck to you!!

Randi3434 reacted to Healthy_life2 in Sweating
After surgery, I’m cold most of the time. I now look forward to shedding all my layers of clothing and showing skin in the summer. Air conditioning and grocery store refrigerated/frozen food isles are an issue. Once I get cold it takes me quite a while to warm back up.

I have severe heat intolerance. Ms.sass is right. I was so terribly cold after surgery. Abnormal for me as I sweat all the time and causes oily skin and scalp. I have thick hair and really should Shampoo everyday, but use a dry shampoo for the second day.
I've noticed I still sweat, like today I was at the Dr and I was stressed about not being able to hook onto their wifi, they changed the username and password. I was sweating so bad. sometimes I feel like it is stress. But, I'm definitely cooler overall.
I wish you much success and feeling cooler.

SMH. yeah. i have clothes that are still 17 years old. but im still super happy im getting down so quickly.

I went through the same. I just told my boss I was having surgery. He never asked what kind and if he did I would have said it was personal. I took two weeks off work and was paid through my companies short term disability while off. Because my insurance covered the surgery and I had a doctors recommendation for being off after surgery, everything was covered 100%. My HR rep did have to get paperwork from my doctors office so they probably know what the surgery was for but they are not allowed to share that info with anyone either. I’ve still not told people at work I had this surgery. I feel it’s personal and none of their business. Of course I’ve lost weight and people notice but they have also seen me dieting and I think assume it’s because of my diet change that I’ve lost the weight.

Hi, everyone! I've been lurking for a while. After 20 years of doing EVERYTHING I can think of to lose weight and ALWAYS gaining it back, I went to discuss weight loss surgery this morning. I am moving ahead with a gastric sleeve. My doctor is getting me started with all the bloodwork, endoscopy, etc. I need to do.
I am scared but I am ready and tired of living this way. Just wanted to say hi and ask for some encouragement!

I'm doing great. There are normal challenges that are part of surgery of any kind. Some manageable pain, soreness at the incision, Constipation. All were easily fixed. Ask for zofran when you leave the hospital for nausea. The hardest part was to try and keep food interesting during each stage. I find that I enjoy my small meals if they are very flavorable. Some foods didn't sit well so I have waited another week to try again. I'm down 28 lbs. so no complaints here. It's a process with a learning curve. Your mom will be such a great resource. Best of luck.
