  3. This morning wanted to go swimming and put on on my swim suit that I wore before my breast surgery. OMGOSH I can't wear this swimsuit anymore. The tummy fits fine but the chest was so huge and the straps kept coming down and exposing my new little boobies. I love one piece suits with skirts but am going to have to figure out a way to take in this suit on top, if it is even possible. A friend gave me her size 16 swimsuit. The tops fits but I couldn't get the bottom passed my upper thighs and over my butt skin.  Maybe I can attach my 32  bottom to her 16 top.   Am very happy with  eliminating 290 pounds  but this excess skin transsformation and misshape body stage is something else. Hopefully by summer 2018 I will be able to look at this stage and have a great laugh in my new trim body.

Thanks Kathy. I had another NSV today. I got to work and unloaded my electric mobility device to discover I didn't have the key. Must have lost it yesterday in the Walmart parking lot. From 9:30 until 4:00 had to walk to every place I went in that building. Thank Goodness I did have my cane because by 4 I was exhausted and bent over a bit but I walked. It felt really good but still see I have a lot more work to do.

  4. Pain Management

I am five days post op from my surgery. My abdomen is really burning around one of my incisions, but there is no discharge. My back is also so sore that I can't do my walking like I want to. It is just too painful. I am taking liquid Tylenol for pain, but that's all. Is there any more I can do for pain & how long does this part of recovery last?

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

Weren't you given any prescription pain meds? If not I wiould call your Dr and let him know of this pain in your back. I had terrible pain in my back right shoulder. My pain was so bad the Doctor thought the nursing staff might have broken my ribs when they had to use the belt thing to get me off the toilet. Turns out I had gas that got trapped as I couldn't walk at the time. I took Gas-X which helped. Plus I used an electric massager on my back plus used a heating pad and even an ice pack wrapped up in a towel. Good luck I hope you feel better soon.

  5. Does the noise in your stomach after you eat ever goes away? Always everytime I eat certain foods it taste like I swallowed a nasty pill, does that ever goes away?

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

Have no nasty pill taste but the noise I still have 18 months post op from the sleeve. I can deal with that noise but it is what i call the skin farts I have a hard time dealing with. I have lost over 290 pounds and when I stand up air get under my belly excess skin and when I sit back down the air pushing out making a farting noise. It mostly does that when I have no underwear on and am home. However there have been times when it has happened in public with underwear on. I just told my Dr about it and said corn starch might help.

  6. Today 18 days after my 1st or 4 skin removal surgeries I was able to walk 1/4 mile with the walker. This is the farthest I have walked in over 30 year without any back pain. I am so excited that I was able to do this. When the 2nd skin removal surgery is done in the Fall I may be able to walk without the walker. To be able to do all the activities that were taken away from me over 30 years ago would make me so very happy and proud at what I have accomplished over all these years. Over 280 pounds gone, smaller boobies and soon a smaller tummy and than 2 more skin removal surgeries is a lot to go through but it is so worth it in the end. :)

Thanks so much. No more back pain. As for the boobie surgery I still have some swelling under the armpits but the pain isn't severe enough that I need to take anything for it. I am icing the girls twice a day and the swelling is less.

  7. OOOOOOOHHHH THE HUMANITY!!!

My hair is coming out in clumps!!! I knew it would happen but omg!!! My heart. Being natural since 2013 and going through the crazy hair phases, I just did not expect this much hair.

Well, its hair and it will grow back.....eventually.

Are you taking biotin and B12 and the other vitamins your suppose to be taking? I am 61 years old and had no hair falling out. However I have read others say they lost hair also. I hope it stops soon for you.

  8. I got my biopsy results back today. I am so thrilled to be able to tell you all the biopsy is benign. Thank the Lord o:) there is NO Cancer. Now I go back to the breast surgeon, get insurance approval again and go to the Plastic Surgeon to get these hugmongous breast and excess skin off my chest. Who knows maybe it will even help my back so I can walk again without the back surgery

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

Thanks everyone for the congratulations. Yes it will be a pain to have to start all over again with approval and reschedule date for plastic surgery but at least now we know there is nothing there to cause any harm once it has been done. I hope it is soon as my back is getting worse with the more weight I lose. Not sure why that is, perhaps because my fat cushions are gone:D

  9. Had my breast biopsy yesterday. Results should be told to me on Wednesday. Friends please  pray it is benign and the excess skin removal surgery can be reschedule soon. It has been 6 weeks since it was canceled. Never thought it would take that long to schedule a biopsy.

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

Thanks Kathy Have been on pins and needles since March 20th when excess skin removal surgery was canceled because of this. Have let so many bad foods and drinks into my life due to the stress of having to wait 6 weeks for this biopsy. Hopefully tomorrow will be good results and I my stress will leave and I can get back to the food plan and the rescheduled surgery. Am seeing my NUT tomorrow and my mental health counselor Friday as I have really messed up during these 6 weeks and need to to get this back under control so I can get off the last 37 pounds.

  10. Had mammogram, EKG, chest  x-ray urine and blood drawn today. I have to see a cardiologist as the EKG showed something they didn't like. In 2016  something also showed before I had my  3 procedure surgeries. However the   Cardiologist cleared me then.  So I am hoping I get to see him fast and he clears me again as March 21 Breast surgery is right around the corner and I would hate to postphone it. Please pray that everything will be ok! Thanks

      ssflbelle

Kathy I haven't been approved this year by the cardiologist yet. I just had the EKG yesterday.  The PCP saw something on the EKG he did and has referred me to a cardiologist.

  14. I DID IT! This former 497 pound 61 years old who has lost 280 pounds, but still can't walk biked 6 miles for the Loop for Literacy. Raised $310.00 for the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. I won a cap for raising the money and a medal for crossing the finish line. My Team was in the top 10 for raising money. Thanks to all my friends who supported me both financially and emotionally. 1 1/2 years ago I never could have done it. IT SURE FELT GREAT! Look at my profile to find today's pictures.

Thanks everyone! Good to see some VETS are still here. You have helped me so much, would hate to see you leave. It has only been a year for me but I hope I can pay it back some day to all the newbies. Kate and Kathy I just did a posting.

  15. Despite taking biotin and B-12 since June of 2015, it has finally happened to me! 10 months post op and I am seeing hair breakage around my temples and frontal scalp. Isn't this a bit late for hair breakage? I was expecting it around 3 to 6 months not 10 months post op. Veterans, how long did it take for you to go through this phase before hair started to grow back?

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

I am seeing short hairs but do not believe it is regrowth. I feel it is my hair breaking. If it is regrowth I never noticed that I was losing hair before. Hope you haven't lost too much hair and if so, it comes back quickly.

  16. I survived Matthew. Without eating all day. Stressed day but safe, no yacht in my yard, only one ginormous tree down in the yard.

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

I know the amount of strength it took to get through this hurricane. I survived too and didn't stress eat either. No damage here either. I had to evacuate as I live in a manufactured home.

  17. After losing a total of 266 I have finally been referred to a neurosurgeon. When I got that referral from the spine surgeon I cried. I may finally have surgery which will allow me to once again walk, dance and do all the things I use to do over 26 years ago.

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

Just got the call today that the Dr I was referred to is the wrong one. Was given the correct Dr at the Cleveland Clinic down here in Florida. Have an appointment for Oct 24th to see the surgeon, so the ball is finally rolling.

Oh yea I am experiencing the loss of thermal protection too. I live in Florida and my AC is hardly ever below 78 and sometimes I even have to have a blanket on me.

      ssflbelle

Yup I am experiencing the same thing. I had to go out and buy extra thick cushions for my recliner and office desk chairs. However it was well worth the expense.

  21. Just saw it for the first time ever and was surprised by my reaction: It's tacky to park one's butt on a website such as this to hawk one's pyramid-scheme products. And I'm just a disinterested user of the site.

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

Yea 15 days worth probably. When we see crap like that we need to report it. Doing it at 1 am in the morning thinking no one will see it.

  22. How is it that a newbie can post in a veteran's forum, but I can't?

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

I just asked Alex yesterday when could I post in the Veterans forum. He told me when I was 18 months post op. So how a newbie posted is beyond me.

I agree this heat is really too high for me to be out biking every day. I wish I could get myself on a gym bike but I still can't do that.

  24. When I read of other peoples pre and post non weight loss surgeries and medical problem they have had I am so grateful for the health that I did have despite being obese most of my life. The WLS, hernia repair and gallbladder removal all at the same time was the first surgery I ever had and I am 60 years old.

    1. ssflbelle

      ssflbelle

I never knew my Grandmothers or Grandfathers but my Mom was the one who taught me to be grateful for what we had.

Yes I was very lucky not to have had the diseased gallbladder or hernia explode. I had them for at least a year before the

surgeon was willing to remove and repair them when he did the weight loss surgery.
