About Me

I am a 61 year old guy, married with four children and 2 grandchildren.  I had to retire a few years ago due to a rare eye disorder that took most of my vision (I can see some things that are close, but am legally blind).  My weight has been an issue since my 20s.  Before that, I was thin.  I've tried every diet imaginable, and have lost weight and regained it more times than I can count.

I had lap-band surgery in 2004 and had some success with it initially.  However, the problems were much greater than any benefits.  I had it loosened 10 years ago, and haven't used it since.

I've reached a point in my life where I know I need to get my weight and health under control.  My paternal grandparents both died of issues related to their weight when they were 66, 5 years older than I am now.  I've decided that the gastric sleeve is the best option for me to make the changes I need to make.  I know that it is only a tool, but I believe it can help me get started and stick with a reasonable program.

I'm in the prel-approval stage right now, but am hopeful I can have the surgery during the first week of May.
