Stomach can’t handle protein.. SO hungry

Atkin2019 YES! Definitely weak! I was even having a problem with water, but that has been okay now. Something with the protein just doesn’t digest in my stomach well. I am glad water works, but the hunger is real! I got some minestrone soup from the store today & drained it so I could eat the broth & I got about 5-6 sips down before I didn’t feel good to my stomach. Working on staying on top of my acid reflux & nausea today to see if that helps! Good luck!!!!
  2. Hey All! I was sleeved on 3/18/19 and have had a really rough recovery. I’m only able to get down about 8oz of liquid a day. I figured out that reflux meds help, but only enough to help me get maybe 12oz of liquids down a day. Protein20, Premier Protein all upsets my stomach. I can get down small sips of water and a popsicle if I eat it slow. I’m post op day 5 and ALLLLL FOOD LOOKS DELICIOUS!! I haven’t had more than a total of 4oz of protein in one day, (today actually), since Sunday, 3/17/19, the last day of pre-op. I talked to my doc today because I was worried about malnutrition and hydration. He just asked me to keep working on clear liquids and would check on me Monday and if I’m still having issues, he would have me in. Has anyone been through this where only water will go down easy? I feel like I just want to eat something!!!! Ugh :(

Post Op Days... I still feel like death

Thanks so much!! Liquids are so hard to get down right now, but getting easier as days go by!! I’m hoping by Monday I will be feeling at least 75% instead of feeling like 30%! Recovery is ROUGH!!!
  5. I’m on post op day 3 (gastric sleeve on 3/18/19), & am having a horrible time getting liquids down. I can only do ice chips. I’ve tried freezing my Protein20 water & the sweetness kills me! Please tell me this gets better!! Any small sip I take makes me feel like it’s just sitting in my chest & HURTS!! When will I feel normal again?? I’m desperate for some relief & positive stories!!! Thanks all :)

    Sleeved 3/18/19... horrible pain

All great tips!!! I was told gas x wouldn’t work bc it’s not gas in the intestines.. I also realized that my fluids were just sitting on my chest. I called my doc & they said ice chips & popsicles to ensure I don’t dehydrate 😊 Slow & steady wins the race!!! 💪🏻
  8. So, my sleeve surgery went great! Little to no anxiety which is great... however, the pains from bloating and the ‘gas’ hurt so bad!!! Fever of 100.7 F so very low grade. Fluids are hard to get down bc of the extra full feeling I have from gas bubbles. I’ve walked, doing deep breaths, patted myself on the chest as if I was burping a baby... any other tricks and tips for getting rid of the gas stuff???

Anxiety at a high - 1 day til surgery

Thank you guys so much!!! This definitely helps!! I will read these tonight!! Tomorrow is the big day!!!!
  10. Hi all! I have Gastric Sleeve Surgery on Monday 3/18/19. I’ve had anxiety a lot of my life, which my outward sign is nausea, which causes more anxiety, which causes more nausea... you get the picture, lol. I’ve been on my pre op liquid diet for 9 days, tomorrow being my 10th, & my last sleep before surgery... AHHHH! I’m super excited for the outcome, but terrified of the pain & nausea after surgery. The anesthesiologist plans to give me something to calm me before surgery & plans to double up on my nausea meds before I wake up after, but I am still worried about it. Any tips, tricks, success stories of no nausea, etc. that will help put my mind at ease? Thanks so much!!!!!

    Broth Diet

I added in some bullion of chicken/tomato (found by the Mexican aisle at the store). It’s a life saver!!
  12. I am on day six of my pre-op diet. Quest protein drinks with 1% milk and blended with ice are a life saver!! I also used some chicken/tomato bullion (found in by the Mexican food at store) in my chicken broth and it is also a life saver!! Good luck!!!
