Was anyone else told not to shave their legs 4 days before surgery?
See, that makes sense to me and I wasn’t told any of that!

Me either!

Was anyone else told not to shave their legs 4 days before surgery?
Ok ladies, this ones for you! When the nurse called from the hospital to go over everything about the surgery day and anesthesia they informed me not to shave my legs 4 days prior to surgery because of the wipe they will give me to wipe on my body. They said it “can” make some women itch. Was anyone else told this and did you listen? Did you shave and then had an itching problem? Personally, I can’t stand fuzzy legs so I’m going to take my chances, but I am just curious about this.

Thanks Susie! Good luck to as well on Monday! I’m scheduled for 7:30am tomorrow and waiting on the hospital to call me for arrival time. I believe you were the very first person to answer my first post I put on here worrying about my BMI and getting the approval.... now look at us! Surgery is happening!

My road to sleeve surgery...fingers crossed!

My road to sleeve surgery...fingers crossed!
I got the word today!!! That little word that I have been praying to hear... APPROVED!!! It came just in time too because surgery is on Thursday, the 25th! I plan on running out tomorrow to grab more “liquid diet” stuff so it’s ready for when I get home. I’m hoping I can beg my Dr to let me go home that day (assuming there are no complications) but I’m going to assume I’ll be there until Friday. I know I am not going to get much sleep tonight and especially tomorrow night. I’m so excited!

Approved!!!! 2 Days To GO!!!!
Thanks everyone! I think I aged about 12 years the past week and a half waiting to hear! So glad it’s official!!! I can’t wait to share the “losers bench” with everyone else and I wish to everyone still “pre-surgery” a quick and successful process/surgery!!

Approved!!!! 2 Days To GO!!!!
I got the call!!!! I’m APPROVED!!!! Thank God I have stuck to my pre-op liquid diet this whole time!!! It’s so real now! I’m so ready to start this new chapter in my life. If anything’, this pre-op diet definitely put me in the right mindset. Watching everyone celebrate on Easter with tons of food and alcohol didn’t even bother me at all because I wanted this more then anything!!! This is why I know I’m going to take this tool/gift I’m given and do everything I can to succeed!

Liquid Diet Pre-Op
I’m hoping that doesn’t happen either Frustr8! I’ve heard about how your taste buds can change drastically. I’m hoping it will happen for carbs! Lol. That’s IF I have this surgery! Still waiting to hear from insurance...........

Don’t have a good feeling....
Yes they will and that’s what I was afraid of! Ugh

Don’t have a good feeling....
Still waiting.... Day 4 of liquid diet right now. If I get denied I might stick with this diet a little longer though. Lost 6 pounds already in 3 full days lol.

Don’t have a good feeling....
That’s ridiculous! It’s insane how they will view this surgery that saves and extends lives! It’s not a boob job! Lol
-
Don’t have a good feeling....
Thanks Diana. It’s encouraging knowing that my Dr might be able to change their minds if they deny me.

Liquid Diet Pre-Op
Love the premiere proteins! Especially the vanilla and bananas and cream. Strawberry and cream is really good too!

Fed BCBS anyone? Approved/Denied?
Hey guys! I’m scheduled for sleeve surgery this Thursday, the 25th. However.....we are STILL waiting on my insurance approval!!! Nothing like cutting it close. Just wondering if anyone has Fed BCBS insurance and if you got denied, what was the reason? Or if you got approved, how long did it take? My insurance coordinator submitted everything last Monday but I have a bad feeling I’m going to be denied....

My road to sleeve surgery...fingers crossed!

My road to sleeve surgery...fingers crossed!
So I get a phone call this morning from my Surgeon himself asking a question on my history. Apparently my insurance company contacted them today asking for more information on a subject. I never smoked a cigarette in my life, but occasionally in the summer will smoke a cigar here and there with my husband. Somehow it got put in my medical history that I’m a smoker!? So he asked about this again because my insurance specifically says patient can not smoke in the past 6 months or it’s an automatic denial. Well I said the last time I had a cigar was last July and I never had a cigarette in my life. He said he will adend that in my history and submit it so that problem was cleared. Then he said the second thing they are requesting is all of my weights from the weight loss program I did for the last 2 years to see my BMI’s. I started in 2016 with a BMI of 42 but then dropped to a BMI of 34 briefly up until November of 2018 before I have steadily gained back up to BMI of 37 now. Only thing is insurance might likely deny me because I haven’t been over BMI of 35 for the recent “full” year. Which is a requirement for Fed BCBS. Praying they take into consideration my overall weight loss attempt the past 2 years. My surgery is scheduled for next Thursday and I’m freaking out! I just don’t have a good feeling now at all about getting approved. soooo... It’s Easter today and I’m on my second day of my pre-op liquid diet. It’s not AS hard as I thought it would be. Thank GOD for those non starchy vegetables I get to have though. Makes a big difference being able to “chew” some foods. Plus, they have def filled me up and taken the edge off. I actually went to bed last night feeling stuffed and couldn’t even get my last Protein Drink in. I’m allowed 1-2 cups of steamed or raw veggies a day but I think I definitely exceeded that yesterday. I have my sugar free Jello which helps and I’m drinking a ton of caffeine free tea and crystal light in my Water. The chicken Bone Broth is very filling as well so that’s a bonus too! Plus the Protein Shake3 times a day. I just wish I knew if I was definitely going to have the surgery on Thursday before the weekend came. It’s going to stink if I did this and I find our insurance denied me. I think If I knew the surgery was definite on the 25th, mentally I would be better with the liquid diet. Hoping I hear something either way tomorrow! Oh..and if anyone has any recommendations on veggies and what/how they cooked them during this, that would be great!

All for nothing?
The journey will seem long but it will be so worth it in the end! Keep me posted on your pre op visit! Good luck!

All for nothing?
Hi Paradokx! I’m still waiting to hear from insurance! I was hoping to know if I was denied or approved before the holiday weekend but that wasn’t the case. I am on my first day of the liquid diet because I’m scheduled for surgery on the 25th. I hope I will know for sure my fate on Monday....it will also be a bummer if I had to do this pre-op liquid diet for nothing! And on Easter to boot! How are you doing?

The Gym...
I’m glad you are going! Now more than ever is the time to keep up the gym through the stall. Your body sometimes retains water the more you workout or it’s in the process of building muscle. You will see the scale move but it just might take a week or 2 to catch up! Don’t give up!
