January 2019 sleevers
Just wondering how many calories everyone is eating per day? I’m averaging 1100-1300 and feel like that may be way too many....

Diabetic Results
I was on Kombiglyze, Farxiga and Basaglar before surgery. I was able to stop all medication while in the liquid phase but sugars crept back up after I started soft foods and until now. I’m now almost 8 weeks out and back on just Basaglar once daily. So I cut out 2 meds and my A1C is down from 8.9 in November to 7.4 this week. Progress!

eating too much??
My surgeon told me not to worry too much about food and portion sizes during the first month, but to focus mostly on fluids. I don’t remember feeling much restriction until I moved on to soft foods like fish and cheese. If you keep it in perspective, what you ate would just be a few bites of a total meal you would’ve had before surgery! ?

One week Post op
Hang in there! It does get better! I’m about 6 weeks post op and do feel totally normal finally. Sometimes I even forget I had the surgery ?

It was NOT gas pain.
Oh my goodness! I went through the same painful experience 1.5 weeks after surgery! ? Surgeon’s Office told me it’s just gas pain....I said well after 2 days of constant abdominal pain and 2 nights without sleep I’m going to the ER! CT scan revealed mesenteric vein thrombosis and spent 4 days in hospital. Gas pain my a**!!! Now on blood thinner for 3 months and quite a few extra doctor visits. Yes, I agree if your pain is at a 10 or doesn’t feel “normal” for you, get yourself to the dang hospital! You know your body best!

Beef in soft food stage?
Thanks everyone! I’m feeling fine 24 hours later so I guess it really was no biggie. I just got freaked out when I read AVOID ALL BEEF in my binder! ?

Beef in soft food stage?
I made a stir fry for dinner with thin cut eye of round and stir fry vegetables. I figured it would be ok since chili with ground beef is ok. However I just looked in my post surgery binder and for soft foods stage it says (in all caps!) AVOID ALL BEEF PORK AND VEAL. I’m kind of freaking out! Did I totally mess up my sleeve and am I in for some more pain????

1100 calories in a day!!!
Healthy_life- i’m using the Baritastic app to log everything. That’s how I knew I had consumed over 1100 calories ? However I did have 96 gm protein and only 13gm sugar. Net carbs were 69 ouch. Will hopefully get to the real foods stage in about 3 weeks. Excited to add more fruits and veggies that should keep calories down! NewMeDay - I find that I actually get hungry every 2 hrs so that’s what I’ve been doing ? My surgeon told me 5 small high protein meals per day. Having no trouble with this ? Myhorseisfattoo - How far post-op are you? I just thought this was super high calories for only 3.5 weeks post op. But I did weigh myself this morning and had dropped a lb so maybe it’s not such a big deal? Trying not to make a habit of it Thank you all for the suggestions!

1100 calories in a day!!!
I’m 3.5 weeks out and on soft foods. So I can eat seafood, soft cheeses, crackers etc. I still do one protein shake per day to make sure I get all the protein. But yea, I’m definitely more hungry now as well. I thought it would get better after the purée stage. That was brutal!

1100 calories in a day!!!
The only thing I would consider “bad” is I had quite a few crackers with peanut butter and some cheese. Other than that it was all high protein foods. I’m 3.5 weeks out and feel I don’t have much restriction even at this early post-op. How far out are you?

1100 calories in a day!!!
I ate over 1100 calories today! I have been averaging around 500-600 for this past week but today I just could not get SATISFIED! I’m totally freaked out by this! I’m so worried I’m slipping back into old habits and I’m going to fail. Anyone else have this issue and how did you get a handle on it???

Type 2 deibetic
I’m 2.5 weeks out and haven’t taken any of my meds in over a week! My numbers have been between 70 -130 for the past week. I’m ECSTATIC! I had no idea it would resolve this quickly. I continue to monitor my sugar several times a day but so far so good! Hope you have the same outcome!

Blood clot
So true! We know our bodies and know if something just isn’t right!

Blood clot
Thank you!

Blood clot
Severe and constant pain in my abdomen that got worse after eating or drinking. It was horrible!
-
Blood clot
Had sleevectomy Jan. 9 and was admitted back into hospital on Jan. 21 for a blood clot in one of the veins in my stomach. So glad I ignored the nurse at my surgeon’s office who said my severe pain was probably just lactose intolerance or gas pain! I got my butt to the ER because I couldn’t stand the pain anymore! Trust your instincts people! Also remember the risk of complications is REAL and keep up with your water intake. I’m finally getting out of hospital today after 4 days and certainly hope I never have to go through this again!

Any Other Sleevers who did NOT have to do liquid diet before?
I also did not have any type of pre-op diet. My surgeon does not believe they’re necessary. I’m about 2,weeks post op and don’t believe having one would’ve improved anything for me.
