About Me

I am married with three children. I am currently residing in China where I have been teaching English as a second language for almost three years. Prior to moving to China, I was a child welfare social worker in the state of Florida. I enjoyed my work immensely but after 10 years, I was burned out. One afternoon, I was looking on FB when an advert came up on my feed regarding teaching in China. We were in China within 6 months. I was medium sized growing up, not thin but not overweight. That changed after having my first child. Pregnancy gave me the perfect opening to indulge in all of my favorite foods, and unfortunately, I have a massive sweet tooth. It has been on and off dieting since then. I have tried every diet under the sun and was often successful but never had the ability to keep the weight off. I had some prior coworkers, including my best friend, who had the bypass a few months after I left for China. At one point, we were planning on doing it together but moving to China changed that. I figured being in a country with a bunch of thin people, I would eat better and lose the weight naturally. Nope, didn't happen, actually-I gained weight-while my husband two children lost weight! Well, this past Chinese New Year, we traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a cruise, and lo and behold, what is on my FB feed but medical holidays. People are now traveling for medical procedures, WLS being a big one. I did my research and within a few weeks I underwent WLS, having the gastric sleeve done. Things have been going well thus far, I did have a brief stall and got in a funk for a day but snapped out of it. I have a great support system in my husband and youngest daughter. I look forward to completing a sprint triathlon this summer-not quite sure when but our family has decided to train together to reach this goal.
