    belinda7 reacted to KT1981 in I have a lap
I carry most of my weight in my stomach and I'm now down 45 pounds from surgery (55 since start of the surgical process). Much of the loss has been in my stomach.
Just now I got out my school book to do my assigned reading, sat down and crossed my legs (!!!) and placed the book on my lap to start reading.
I couldn't focus on reading because something felt weird. I finally realized it was because I had my book in my lap and not propped up on my gut or teetering on the edge of my knee.
I've been crossing my legs so much when I sit that it's making my hips sore...but I'm just so excited to be able to do it that I can't stop!
I'm so fascinated by this progress that I needed to share with folks who could understand! Most everyone in my life is a normal weight or overweight, but have not experienced obesity.

Never again. I have accepted the fact that I just can't eat fried food. Fired food, pizza, Pasta, beer, etc., brought me the point of being dangerously obese in the first place. Not going back there!

belinda7 reacted to KT1981 in A terrifying and hilarious NSV
First, let me say that this week I got my first, "I didn't recognize you!" from a coworker I hadn't seen since before the surgery. (I could tell something was weird because she was acting oddly shady toward me during the first part of the meeting, and then suddenly became normal several minutes later. Must have been when she put 2 and 2 together.)
Anyway, on to the terrifying and hilarious NSV. So I'm walking rapidly down this long, empty hall at work and focused on the door all the way at the other end. I'm trying to take a quick bathroom break and I don't have a lot of time. I kinda glanced down to check my path ahead of me (since I'd previously been focused on the door and not watching where I was walking) and as I glanced down I suddenly saw something scurry around my feet. We've been known to have the occasional mouse in the building and I live in the midwest where it has been bitterly cold, which can push critters inside. Naturally, I freak out and do a little jig and start looking around, but I see nothing.
I'm not sticking around to meet a mouse if I don't have to, so I start power walking to the door/end of the hallway and I see it scurry by my feet AGAIN! Suddenly, before the panic set in, a realization set in and I test my theory by walking slowly at first, then faster. Yep. It's my own feet. I can now see my own feet when I walk because my stomach has shrunk in size. No mice. Just my own damn feet. 🤣

Hello everyone. I’m new to Bariatric Pal. I heard about the site and Facebook group on the Lighter Side of Weight Loss with Jay podcast. I’m so glad I did!
I am 47, married 26 years (in May), have 3 children (29,21,20), and 4 of the sweetest grand children anyone could ask for.
After my husband was found dead at work, revived 5 times and made a miraculous recovery, I knew I needed to get my health under control.
both my husband and I researched for 6 months on types of weightloss surgery, as my primary dr suggested I needed to have it. We decided on the sleeve, and once I had my first appointment with my surgeon, he also agreed it was the right choice for me.
i have 3 more weight management visits for my insurance then I will have surgery. Should be around end of April or early May.

True for sure! So many people think that once the surgery is done, they are done. This is indeed a lifelong committment and a constant watch of what we are doing all the time. If we let things pass, we will revert back to our old selves and be back where we started.

My RNY is scheduled for feb 5. I have back to back cruises scheduled in June so I’ve been saving money for new clothes. I started thinking that I am going to just buy the minimum for the cruises and continue to save for a reward wardrobe later. My reward for reaching my goal is going to be an appt with a personal stylist at Nordstrom’s. I’m still working on coming up with rewards for smaller goals. My goal is to lose 135 pounds. I was thinking rewards at 50 & 100 pounds lost then goal reward. Any suggestions?

    Well I am looking forward to a SVN, a "scale victory now", there was a point where Tomkitten🐯and I were about 75 pounds apart, he is also losing a little bit but not like I am! Somewhere between Easter and Mothers Day I should equal or diminish past him! And then he can call me his LITTLE MAMA and I will rock it to the treetops! Thank you again Drs Needleman and Noria for being my surgical helpers , giving me a chance for a future out of Obesity. I may never make it past mere Overweight but I will be proud at any rate. And my current mantra will be;
I SHALL MAKE THE REST OF MY LIFE THE BEST OF MY LIFE!😝🌈👍

I noticed a few NSVs last night/this morning, and I'm just so happy I had to share. So, here they are.
    1) I had to tighten the strap on the mask for my CPAP
    2) I've noticed that I've started taking better care of myself and have generally been feeling happier
3 (and my favorite)) Today as I was leaving for work, my husband hugs me and said, "You've lost so much weight, I can hug you more completely". Guys. He can finally get his arms the whole way around me. I have been smiling about this all day.

@Neri Congratulations on your progress. NSVs are proof it's not all about the number on the scale!
Yesterday, while talking to a friend of many years, she said "you are starting to look like the you I remember and I know you'll get back to where you were mean't to be." I've known her for 40 yrs and she has seen me yo-yo diet for the last 20 yrs so I know she mean't this as a sincere compliment . Definitely a NSV for me.

    Congratulations on two years out.
Many of us have a weight gain after goal. The choice is to lose the weight or to be comfortable at a higher weight. There is no judgment of what you choose to do. This is your life and your choice.
    If you choose to lose
It's not so much motivation. Reality - This is work to maintain /lose a weight gain. It's not fun to give up the calories and carbs. The weight loss is slower. Know that this gain is manageable if you want to take it off. It can be done.
    Motivation or Perspective:
This is hard but a person with cancer would gladly trade places with us for our weight loss struggles, Right?
    Wishing you the best,
    Jenn

But pounds aren't the same as percentages. People of higher weights are going to lose more pounds, but the same percentage as a person of lower weight. Also, each person is different.
Rule of thumb: 33% of excess weight loss at 3 months, 50% of excess weight loss at 6 months, 70% of excess weight loss at 12 months

Nothing happens overnight. Be good to yourself. It's not how fast, it's the fact you are losing weight. Give yourself credit for the work you are putting into this. We lose weight at different rates. Does not matter if it's fast or slow. It's all the same goal to get healthy.
When was the last time you lost 22 pounds in six weeks?

belinda7 reacted to FluffyChix in Opinion?
22/6=3.67lbs per week. The average weight loss is about 2-4lbs per week with the most being lost usually in the first 2 months. I'd say you were on target for being a "little on the high end of average." There is also a well-known 3 week stall period in there and some of us also had a 6 week stall as well. Hang in there. Work the plan. In 6 months you won't recognize yourself...Raymond.

So excited and surprised right now! I ordered size 12long Lee relaxed fit jeans as my 14s were way too baggy. Got them and tried them on and.....they were way too big!! 🎉🎊 Woo hoo!!
I think part of this is that my body does not require the relaxed fit anymore... though that is the kind I’ve worn for years (even when I weighed less years ago). I noticed that as I’ve lost weight after ESG, my butt/hips have shrunk way more than they did with previous weight loss efforts. Weird. Or maybe since I’m past menopause I’m going to lose weight in that area easier...🤔
