    50+

I’m 53 and had the sleeve surgery on December 31. I’ve been very lucky. I can eat anything I try (in very small amounts) and have had absolutely no side effects. I recently went through a weight loss stall but seem to be moving down the scale again now.

    Smooth Sailing for Anyone?

I had my sleeve on 12/31/18 and other than occasional constipation (because I don’t take in enough water when I’m working) I haven’t had any complications. It’s been 6 weeks today and I’ve lost 26 pounds. Not the most but very respectable. I was 231 on surgery date and I’m an even 5’0 short. I believe my future is good!

    Where Is Everyone From?

    Springfield Missouri (the show-me state)!
  4. Yemen’s I went through the same thing. You are in the toughest time period. Hang in there. I’m 6 weeks post op today and it gets better.

JessLess I agree with you. This is my journey and it won’t be like anyone else ‘s journey. Comparing will only put more pressure on me and I don’t need it.
  6. My sleeve surgery was Dec 31. I’ve had issues with a lot of bloating and constipation. I’ve been on clear liquids since surgery but will start a modified full liquid diet tomorrow (cream of wheat, protein shakes, pudding, yogurt plus clear fluids) and will stay on that for 2 weeks. I was 226 pounds the morning of surgery and was 228 a couple of days ago. Just trying to get the constipation and bloating under control.

    Before and After Pics

Congrats and keep up the great work.
  8. Any ideas how to get rid of the gas in my tummy?
  9. I just bought my multi-vitamin (required to have folic acid of 400mcg, iron of 18 mg, zinc, copper and selenium and B12 500 mcg) and my calcium citrate (required to have 1200-1500 mg) for $20. I got the Opurity calcium-citrate plus chewable from unjury.com and the multi-vitamin from Amazon, the Pro Care Health Bariatric Multivitamin for $20. Is there somewhere out there that has all of this that is easier on the pocketbook?
  10. She has talked with her doctor numerous times and everyone is aware of the condition. Her surgeon passed away. She had to be operated on within 3 days of her gastric bypass for an ulcer. After she got out of the hospital she was on a feeding tube for over 6 months. And now she is rail thin and feeble because nothing stays down, except chips and junk food like that. I am having surgery on Monday, Dec 31 and this is the only thing that scares me. My surgeon has assured me this is not a normal thing and that heredity should not play a part in this but I'm still a little concerned about it.
  11. My mom had the bypass surgery years ago and after even after all these years she keeps very little food down. She can keep chips down but no salad or chicken or any kind of meat. There are so few foods she can eat. This scares me. I’m wondering if any of you find you can’t hold down a lot of healthy foods.

I’m on my 10th day of the liquid only diet before surgery. The doctor’s nurse told me I could cheat on Christmas so I had a very small piece of ham, a tablespoon of mashed potatoes and white gravy. But back today to total liquid.
