Did something very naughty, paid for it BIG time
I have been 'stuck' soooo many times. Is this normal?? Especially after fills... but I have yet to throw up. I drink and drink til it goes on down, no matter how painful. If the saliva in the back of your throat is what you mean by 'sliming'... I have always done that whenever I felt like tossing my cookies. I had my 3rd fill on Monday and today I got a pill stuck... one that is time released and cannot be cut up. Didn't have any problem with it yesterday? On top of that, the mushy I ate today got stuck on top of the pill, I think? Almost couldn't get it down! Still, I wouldn't change a thing. I have lost 58 lbs since Dec. 22. =D And most the time I love the feeling of restriction. I am up to 5cc now in a 10cc band. Gee... only 120 lbs to go til goal. Better than 180? hehe

Hounds and Pounds
Is it strange that your 4 lb Chihuahua eats more than you??

Restriction - Do I have it?
Had my 2nd fill Monday Feb 15. Up to 4cc's now. I lost 8 lbs by Saturday. It's Wednesday and I am still feeling ALMOST like I did when I was first banded. Does this mean maybe long term restriction or is this normal for the first week or so after a fill?? I take my meds and I am full... I have to take them in between meals... lol. And by meals I mean meal. Usually just one... because I am just not hungry for anything most the time. food sounds "uck". But I get light headed and HAVE to eat. Then, when I do, it's a couple of bites, maybe more, maybe less. Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. This is what I signed up for... I'm just hoping it will last. What do you think?

I am so scared now
I am 2 months out and if I find myself craving something, I have my little bite, because with the band, that's about all I can have! Your portions will be unbelievably small... and you will find that a bite or two will satisfy you. I definitely do not struggle as much now as I did without the band. I had no control at all without it. Now I just listen to my body... eat the way I should (not necessarily the foods I should, but I chew, chew, chew... swallow... wait a few minutes, then take another bite.). This way you can tell when you are full. It's amazing how just a bite or two satisfies that craving. However, before the band I worried so badly that I wouldn't be able to do it. Now I KNOW I can... and I already feel wonderful! I've lost 44 lbs!! You can do it, honey. You wouldn't be normal if you weren't having the feelings you are right now. We didn't get this way because we could turn away food very easily.

anxiety
I understand... I had the same "cold feet" just before surgery. Giving up food was like giving up an old friend... an old DESTRUCTIVE friend. I am only 2 months out, but I had 2nd thoughts just before surgery because I was afraid to give up what I was comfortable with and had grown accustomed to. However, even tho it is a change, just remind yourself it's a GOOD change... and you will feel SO MUCH BETTER afterward! You came this far... you can do it just as SO MANY have. We didn't get here because we DIDN'T like food... we all liked it a little too much. And please don't hesitate to email me if you need to chat or anything. I know the anxiety all too well. I was so very nervous I was crying just before they gave me the GOOD meds in my IV!! lol

I LOVE my Band <3

I LOVE my Band <3

Post Surgery Depression
Thanks for sharing that! I actually have problems sexually, too. I think it's the antidepressants... which I HATE... but then again, I hate being depressed? Maybe I should just do a whole cleansing thing? I don't want more drugs.

Post Surgery Depression
My doctor prescribed Lexapro (an antidepressant) and Ativan for just when I need it. Lexapro has been a LIFESAVER. Since this recent depression has only hit me since surgery, I tend to think it's probably temporary. I am very sensitive to many medications. If I can't get it under control, I will certainly see a psychiatrist. :cursing:

Post Surgery Depression
No. No psychiatrist, just my regular doctor. I plan to have a visit with him on Friday. Might need to up my meds, but was just wondering if anyone else may have experienced the same depressive feelings after surgery?

Post Surgery Depression
I was banded 12/15/09. Before the surgery I was very excited. VERY. I normally suffer from depression and anxiety... it's just part of who I am and I have taken medication for 18 years for it. I take 20mg Lexapro and Ativan when needed. I haven't been "depressed" for a long, long time. The meds always seemed to work. However, since surgery, I don't want to get out of bed, don't want to leave the house, don't want to leave my room!! I am losing weight... have lost 42 lbs. I haven't even worked more than 5 hours since surgery. I'm going to lose my insurance if I'm not careful. Maybe even my job. And this job, which I normally like, I just can't fathom the idea of going back. I can't even describe to you what I feel most of the time. Numb. Don't care. Sad. Tired. Anyone else experience this after surgery? It seems like I suffered some depression after my gall bladder surgery as well. It was an open surgery and took me awhile to recover. Do you think it's anesthesia? Or is it just me? :cursing:

Regret Telling Friends ...
Wow... all my friends were excited for me. OR... maybe they aren't REALLY my friends? Nah... lol There were just a couple that said things like: Do you really think that works? My whole family and nearly all my friends were very, very supportive. And my mother still 'brags' to people... "She had that surgery, you know..." Proceeds to tell them how much I've lost. I'm not offended. I think she's proud that I went through with it. I was really really scared. I wouldn't worry about it with your friends. That's why they have "Support Groups"... for people making the same decisions. I'm here for ya.

Left Shoulder Pain After Lap Band Surgery
Pleurisy... not pleasant, I hear. Saying a prayer for your Mom.

Left Shoulder Pain After Lap Band Surgery
My right shoulder ached right after surgery... it was the worst of my pain. But that's all gone. However, my left shoulder aches, on top, if I get hungry or eat too much. Must just be a bander thing.

Minor Pain
That makes sense. I'm always rolling over on my port site. And it hurts for awhile afterwards. I'll give it a few more days. Thanks for sharing!!

Minor Pain
I haven't had any vomiting... I did 'heave' a few times Friday nite, but I didn't have any problems until Sunday. I don't think I have anything 'stuck' like STUCK... but I think maybe there is a piece of food in there that isn't able to even get 'stuck'... I'm not sure? Like maybe not chewed enough. But whatever is going on, it is still happening today. I don't even want to eat anything. Even if I were hungry. =( Good luck! Hope it's nothing serious!

Minor Pain
I'm still having it. =( I wonder if I have some food stuck and it just needs to be worked out? I hope? It takes much less to get me full all of a sudden and I really am not hungry, yet there is still a little discomfort. Nothing that keeps me up at night or anything? Haven't called anyone just yet. Thought if I was still having it by Friday I would call. I will let you know. =)

Minor Pain
Hey fellow Bandsters! I was banded Dec. 22, 2009. My first fill was Jan. 18. Friday nite I was a little ill and almost vomited... just kinda heaved a couple of times and that was it. Was fine Sat. and Sunday. Yesterday I kind of felt I might have overeaten a bit. Today I woke up feeling a little discomfort where I think my pouch may be? Almost like I just didn't feel hungry... like eating at my usual time, yet my stomach was growling. I eventually did eat and everything went down fine but I still have some discomfort. Is this normal? Or did I do something wrong?

Stuck
Well Folks, I was banded Dec. 22, 2009 and had my first fill on Monday this week. I ate a toasted tuna sandwich yesterday and somehow I know there is still a piece of it stuck in my pouch. I can feel it in there, kinda tasted it when I went to bed last night. Everything is still going down fine, so I don't have a blockage, but this is really irritating. I ate very few scrambled eggs last night because I was full very, very fast. I drink constantly. I tried some very hot tea this morning and even Diet Coke today. I chugged it... nothing. Any ideas?? Short of going to get unfilled?? I have to drive 240 miles to do that!! Thanks!

Husband question..
Wow... sounds like my husband through and through. He even begged me to postpone my surgery til after the first of the year!! He knows how scared I was and my history of procrastination, lol. He said those very same words, not to me, but to my kids. That he was afraid I am going to leave once I lose weight. However, he has been very supportive since the surgery. I think a lot of reassurance helps and allowing them to be part of the whole process. Making them feel needed.

Easy way out?
I've only been banded since Dec. 22... Everyone who thinks this is 'easy' can kiss my butt. Sorry if I offended anyone. :smile2:

Vaginal itch/burning/swelling

Lost Too Much Weight
Amy, So glad to hear you are feeling much better! I've been even more active today so my little gas issue is hopefully going to resolve itself soon. I can't believe I am 7 days post-op myself. My mother, son and his girlfriend all have made comments ALREADY about how they can tell I've lost weight! Hope they aren't just trying to make me feel good? lol I love this forum. I live in an area where there just aren't any support groups. I think they have Overeaters Anon... but that is it? Thank you all for being here. Much Love, Carleen
