Loop Duodenal Switch
I wanted DS BUT nobody in my home state offered it and couldn't afford to travel or stay In hotels for weeks so I'm going for RNY which I think will help me enough because I've only got 140 max excess weight

Pre-OP Diet Blues
Yes I think you need to make decision for yourself Just to put off a few cookouts at this stage to make sure you don't mess it up...

I get what the OP is saying it is sad to see the lack of literacy in modern times but it's best to put it behind you and move on

Bariatric Support
Lucky for me I've been on my own since I left home at 15.. Sure I have familyand friends but don't rely on anyone. I've learnt to be strong to only rely on yourself and of course you can ask ppl for support or to talk to but at the end of the day this is your life.. Nobody else's!!!

The Forbidden Craves
Too true like also when they openly say they been fat since like 5 years old.... Why did nobody intervene? Parents..grandparents..school..doctor..nobody did anything at all.. Poor child Just for bigger and bigger every year... Another one confused me.. Young girl was I think 21; 600lb Massive lymphodemia.. Could barely move yet her sister was like perfect maybe 130lbs... How can one child be near death and the other fit and healthy.... So much sadness in that show...

Meeting surgeon for the first time getting anxious
Nope They said they are no nonsense surgery and the blood work is all I've been asked I guess I'll find out at the next meeting.. But I made few calls originally top different surgeries and choose the surgeon with less hurdles on purpose.. There was another one local to me that had multiple other people involved but also added costs...

Mentally prepare yourself before your surgery!!!
So true you have to be very strong willed.confident personality.you have to be completely self reliant as ONLY you can make this work. You cannot make excuses once you have surgery.. I know someone who got surgery within 4 weeks of consultation... It happens..

The Forbidden Craves
Yes it's depressing and sad how some of them are so delusional "oh I only eat once a day lol" Then they lie.cheat.hide food from family and loved ones.. They repeatedly waste the Drs time.. And their family just continuously sit Back and feed them the junk killing them.. One episode this lady ate probably 6 times a day huge meals every meal takeaway like how do they afford it number 1? The whole car ride to Houston just stuffing their faces with Crap!

Meeting surgeon for the first time getting anxious
I've been going through the motions and I'm 3 months away from my 12 months cut off so getting excited yet anxious. Will be seeing surgeon finally In 3 weeks to discuss in depth the whole procedure and I guess finalize a surgery date either 30 sep or 14th October. They only do surgery one day a week here at Ashford Adelaide Australia. I've been told I may have bloods done but after that I need to see a dietitian to discuss the preop diet and then next time I see surgeon will be on the surgery day and I'll have 2 nights maybe 3 in the private hospital which will be NICE.. If all goes well I'm so excited been researching the procedure for like a year now and choose RNY BYPASS over the others mostly because of my diabetes and high sugar levels but because I need to lose 125+lbs to be healthy bmi but also be fit and healthy for the first time in many years. I'm single and no kids so I can concentrate on myself 100% and hope that I'll be ready to take control of my life with the help of the bypass tool. I'm be 35 next month and I want to be a brand new man Well before I'm 40!!! Then look towards the future to meet someone start a family and pass on all my new found knowledge to my children so they can live healthy lives... Just felt like giving a little update/vent/rant... Thanks guys Mike

Over the counter vitamins?
Just go to supermarket or chemist whichever has the best deal. I use 2 different multivitamin either Centrum or Swisse; there's no rule that says you have to use specific bariatric brands... I look for whatever is on sale but also which has got most vitamins for the price... You have to take multivitamins everyday for life so it does add up

Pounds lost
Yeah I agree that's very low numbers I guess it makes some people feel more secure

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
^^^ so true @Hop_Scotch I've been reading 100s of posts, multiple forums and probably another 100hrs of medical research articles before I decided to go through with this procedure and I'm 3+ months away from surgery and still reading more every day!
-
Pounds lost
That's amazing!! 125 in 6 months what was your start weight? How strict are you on yourself?
-
Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
Appears you were not mentally ready for the challenge ahead. That's fine not everyone is suited to such a drastic change in their lives. But still there are 1000s of people who have changed their life for the better even if it meant making some sacrifices here and there! & weight watchers, Jenny Craig and any of those companies are ALL FOR PROFIT!!! NEITHER of those companies guarantee success without HARD WORK and DEDICATION as well!!!

How to tell my Child
First of all talk to them like adults. There's no shame in surgery. If they are curious just say you had some issues with health and you need to get better and best way is surgery to get the weight off. Try not to make it seem like you're ashamed otherwise it may make them feel bad if or when they have weight issues Be open honest involve them

Stretching pouch directly after surgery?
