I am 3 ½ months out and have lost 60 pounds. I arrived at Onederland this past Friday at 198. I have not seen the 100's in over 20 years! My next milestone is to achieve another loss of 68 pounds to settle around 130ish. I'm only a petite 5'0" frame, and prefer not to look "just chubby". Very thankful I'm no longer morbidly obese, and continue to strive toward normalcy to the fit and trim range. Looking forward to a much different and better end of 2019 holiday season. I love my new sleeve and the endless possibilities...
Any other height challenged individuals out there? What is your ideal weight goal?
Congratulations to all for your weigh downs and continued best wishes. Happy spring!

I was expecting my tolerance to be one drink but I can have a bottle of wine and be totally sober even if my BAC says otherwise. I think I’m not absorbing the alcohol or something magical. Was really looking forward to being a cheap drunk.

So I’m sitting here 13 days PO and I keep having these recurring thoughts of “what if my bypass just doesn’t work...?” Irrational, I know. I’m not talking about losing the weight and regaining. I mean straight up NOT losing anything ever. That doesn’t happen, right? I have no complications, no pain, I can drink and take my supplements with no issue. That scares me too. Like, I thought this was supposed to be hard. If I didn’t see the scars on my belly I would second guess that I ever had surgery. 😕

I'm sorry you're struggling, and that your surgeon's team didn't prepare you better for what to expect post op. I respectfully suggest that you find yourself a therapist with experience in dealing with bariatric patients and/or eating disorders. Your surgeon's office should be able to make some recommendations. I'm assuming that you're in your first couple of months post op, when things are toughest. This is a season of your life, and I strongly urge you to find the emotional tools to help you.
As has been mentioned above, you need to find ways to be social that don't involve food. It is a great lesson for your kids to learn too, to set them up with a healthy relationship with food for down the road.
I wish you good luck and hope you find a way through the next few months.

So what I have restrictions, so what people see me with a Water bottle and so what there are things I can’t eat anymore.. Trust me, I hit my pizza quota and chocolate quota like 19 years ago.. Weight watchers 6xs.. Jenny Craig 2xs.. Adkins umpteen times.. trainers 2xs.. I FINALLY feel like the person I was suppose to be .. my surgery was only a tool.... I was prepared for the hard stuff and now I’m reaping the good stuff.. screw the food.. I chose LIFE

The first few months after surgery are hard. Do you want to live to see your kids get married? Have grandchildren? PLay with grandchildren? Then buck up, buttercup. Put on your big girl panties and go see a therapist to talk about your food issues. You clearly have them.
I'm almost 3 years out and 150 pounds down. (I've stopped updating my ticker - it's a pain in the a$$.) I fence at a national level and am ranked 23rd among women age 50-59 in the United States. I started fencing after I lost the weight.
I understand the need to vent in a safe place, but you need to get your head in the right place. Because if your head isn't in the right place, nothing is going to work. This is only a tool. Not a magic bullet.

You can still eat things you want.. but the point is moderation.. and everyone should be carrying around a water bottle all day long.. the point is.. this was designed to be a tool! It's not a fix.. those holidays were ruined because your head was in the wrong place.. you made the choice to make those holidays about food instead of the company.. now it's time to make holidays about the company and not the food which it was supposed to be about anyhow! and why dont you make something you can eat to contribute.. so what it takes you a while.. you can eat and talk at the same time.. let people think whatever they want.. and sad to say.. this surgery is actually quite the norm.. if it wasn't Dennys wouldn't have a healthy place on their menu and except a bariatric surgery card and same goes for other places. I dont know about you but food I like got me to weighing 262 pounds because I liked it a little too much! And taking 20 minutes, eating and drinking at the same time.. that's stuff our generation was taught growing up, old habits are hard to brake.. but it can be done. I'm sorry you are frustrated.. but I hope I give you a new prespective.. maybe it will help put you in a better place..

you are allowed to scream, you are allowed to cry, you are even allowed to question why., But the one thing you are not allowed to do is Give Up, do,t,look behi,d you are no longer going that way. Even if your steps seem to falter, have faith in yourself, be gentle , be sure kind to yourself as you heal. Day by day you will get stronger, you will find your strength as your life starts to,balance out. And be,proud of how far you have come already. and those foundations will help you in your post-surgery life. Up i can do it , my friendc you can really do it and do it well. God Bless.

Surgery 3/11/18 33lbs down! It may feel like things are moving slow right now. You are going to look back after your first year and realize how quickly the weight change was for you.
Hang on for the ride. 333-229 = 104 pounds. Not impossible! Can be done.

I read that Gastric Bypass patients lose an average of 75% of their excess body weight. At the time of surgery, I weighed 346 and my ideal body weight by BMI is approximately 190 pounds. So, that means I am carrying an excess weight of 156 pounds. 75% of 156 pounds is 117 pounds. So that means if I lost 75% of my excess weight, I would be a relatively svelt 229 pounds. Crunching the numbers is interesting. 229 seems like an impossibly long way off but I'm only going to take it day by day.

Haha, Tea, 2 dishes. That's great. The ziploc bag sizes have definitely changed on my end as well. Before, everything was in a gallon sized bag and wouldn't last more than one meal after that. I've also finally started using all of the bento boxes I've had all of these years. Now that they finally hold enough food to fill me. Well now I can eat two meals out of one and there will usually still be a few bits left.

Also, I should probably get some friendly drink volumes. I do really well with hydration but I have a 25oz at work and a 32oz at home and the numbers really don't like each other. I usually just stop counting after I've hit 100+ and I just keep trying to hammer the Water anyway. Thanks for the reply, you're always a big help.

I had my sleeve surgery in November 2016. Pre surgery weight was 470. After 2 week pre-op diet I was 440. This week I weighed in at 220 pounds. That's 250 pounds LOST and it's been easy. I am insanely glad that I made the decision to get this surgery. I've heard stories of people who gain weight back after this surgery, and it baffles my mind because even 2+ years later I still get full so quickly. I can't imagine how anyone can eat too much with such a reduced stomach size. I know instantly that I cannot eat anymore once my stomach is full. I know instantly that if I took another bite I would feel physically ill. Anyway, I am beyond happy with my health and the way I look. From a 58 waist to a 36 slim fit in jeans.
    Yay me!

I do not chug but i have found myself trying to take 3 drinks in a row from a bottle of Water. Two back to back i can get away with.. Always.. without fail when i attempt the 3rd one, its an automatic reaction to stop mid drink stick my tongue on the bottle to keep water from entering my mouth and then i sit and wait with liquid in my mouth for a min before i swallow. It is the funniest thing.. Good thing it hasnt happened in public LOL.

I am 55 yrs old and started walking about 3 miles a day after having surgery. After about 6 months I started running. I was running up to 4 miles 3 times a week. I would have liked to run more but I have had re-constructive knee surgery on my right knee twice and have very little meniscus left. I ran 2 organized 5K's in 2018 so anything is possible. I tried the gym but just couldn't get into it. I still walk about 3 miles a day and run during warmer weather.

I was a true couch potato pre surgery. Committing to exercise was a necessary evil that I was not thrilled about. Exercise/activity does not mean you have to step inside a gym. Start slow. Do it even when you don't want to. It gets easier if you make it a habit. You will find you are stronger than you give yourself credit for.
Use your activity/exercise to replace. stress/emotional eating, head hunger or eating out of boredom. Make it a time to process all the changes and mental battles with weight loss. This is the time you carve out for yourself. Don't let anyone interrupt it.
Get zumba videos online and dance your butt off walk and make it about the destination. Take photos. As you get stronger and have more energy challenge yourself to do more. Plan a hike with beautiful views. Make exercise an adventure and not a chore. Buy exercise equipment at a thrift store. (stationary bike, dumbbells or a treadmill) Find your inner bad@ss! You never know where this journey will take you. Who knows how you will feel about exercise six months or a year from now. Many changes coming your way.

It is defintly a IT IS WHAT IT IS process. I know everyone of us get nervous about it all. We are just tuned that way. After diet after diet and losing the same weight over and over it is a hard obstacle to overcome!!! Trusting the process is hard for sure!! BTW I have decided to confront my DR about what she did the last time I seen her. I only go to her mostly for my pain management. I use FENTYOL Patches and she maid me take a UA every month at first, then it was every time I seen her, up until the last 6 months and she didn't even have me do one. She maid me feel like I am a DRUG SEEKER!! Even if I have to start using Medical Marijuna (which is totally legal here in Oregon) and be taken off my patches I am willing to find another DR. I don't trust her now. If she gabs at work about her PT who else is she talking to. One of the biggest draw backs of using Marijuna is it makes me HUNGRY!!! I actually feel like I can eat the paper of the wall. I can't smoke it because I'm afraid it will make me start smoking again. Oh such sorry. LOL TRUST yourself to do what is best for you!! We are all WINNERS in this game.

So, since surgery, I have been noticing all sorts of different incremental changes to my life. It has been like adopting an entirely new routine and set of habits that belonged go somebody else. It has been great. I'm wondering if anybody has noticed some small but surprising details that they hadn't expected. For example, it took me a while to adjust to the new time it takes microwave food. Before, I hardly ever had leftovers, but if I was heating up a plate for myself it would take 2 minutes, a stir, and another minute to warm up my pile o' slop (patent pending). It took me a while to realize it only takes 30-45 seconds now to get my small-sized portion piping hot. I just think these odd little things are interesting. I was hoping the rest of you would share similar small changes you noticed post op.
