This is uncalled for. I am sorry, but I am tired of people on the site being judgemental. Let's be honest, if you think you will go the rest of your life without eating a piece of pizza, or something that is unhealthy, you are not being realistic. The point of this surgery is to not punish you. You can eat healthy most of the time, exercise, and enjoy a piece of pizza once in a blue moon. We all have our favorite foods and if we can handle these foods in moderation, as part of a generally healthy diet, than that is ok. I would love to meet someone a year out that has not had anything unhealthy, or one of their favorite foods. At 9 months out, I am almost at goal, maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly. And you know what? I have had a ice of pizza! I've had a few pieces of chocolate even! And...my doctor is ok with that because he knows what is realistic and what is not.

    Hi All,

I've been considering and researching obesity and WLS for over a decade. After 15 years of a BMI 40+, numerous diets, and three comorbidities later, I'm taking action.
I'm scheduled for 11/12 and have been on the pre-op diet for 3 days.
I've decided to follow other members who have surgery the week before me so I can keep in touch with others slightly ahead of me, so I can have a view of where I might be as I progress.
Prayers and best wished to all!

I have not had my surgery yet, but what was told to me by my doctor is to look at the excerise as a prescription. You need to have it to stay healthy.

so I have tried the ensure high Protein chocolate, it is pretty good, I just got my priemer Protein Shakes to try, but it doesn't look like you are required to do the Meal Replacement shake pre surgery so I think you are able to move on to the post surgery type shakes that are not Meal Replacements, like Unjury and protein Water?
As far as Vitamins are concerned all depends on your levels for example I will have to take extra Vitamin D right off the bat... but I will tell you they told us as a general rule and for the beginning we could do a flinestone, and then when we move on they suggested opurity orange berry bariatric sleeve Multivitamin and then take our remaining Calcium and Iron if needed. I just ordered mine 90 day supply was 29.00 so not awful I thought.

    Hi everyone and Welcome.
My surgery is November 7th. I am on a low calorie and very low fat (less than 30 g). I am able to pick 4 milk, 2 vegetable, 2 fruit, 2 starch and 4 meat servings each day. I have pre-op test October 30th. What Protein Shakes have you tried that is good? And what Vitamins have you tried that is good also?

Congrats to you! I know it is daunting today and you are probably questioning what you just did to yourself, but please know you made a great change. You will feel like your failing some days and be on the top of the world others. Just enjoy the ride. It's as much about the changes in your head as the changes that will happen to your body. Hang in there and best wishes on your journey. You've got this!

Screw the nay sayers, trust me they won't go away. I'm seven years out and the one piece of advice I'd give myself back then it's not to tell anybody. People have all kinds of opinions some educated and some not. Do your research and if this seems like a good option and you are committed to change and ready to do this, do it. Keep your mouth shut and show them with action. They will begin to see your positive results and quietly they can watch the transformation. Trust me the negativity will be replaced with wanting to know what you are doing to look and feel so much better. What they think had nothing to do with you it's all about them. Be committed and quietly do your thing. It's not the easy way out and it doesn't matter how you get healthy or what people think. Today I am living a life I only dreamed about. I'm thrilled I didn't give into other's stupid ideas about how I should manage my weight loss. I just quietly did it and the people who were the loudest complainers are the ones asking how I'm doing it. I wouldn't change my decision for anybody. Do it, change your habits and enjoy your life. Good luck to you.

People who are skinny, healthy, been skinny there whole lives dont get it.When I was 450 lbs 11 years ago I lost 105 lbs with good nutrition and lots of exercise and did in 6 months.I felt like I could take on the world even at 345lbs.I gained it all back plus 45lbs in 11 years cause I allowed my self to go back to bad habbits.I was one who thought people who did WLS were people who were just taking the easy way out.Well after lots of resurch and talking to people I know who have had either sleeve or gastric bypass WLS is not the easy way out and you can and will gain the weight back if you dont change the way you eat and look at food fot the rest of our lives. This is my opinion cause I do not live in fantasy land. This is going to be a lifstyle change and if you do not follow the rules mark my words you will fail.Weather it is a year or five years this is not a quick fix.People reading this and some of you are like me unhealthy and have medical troubes like myself this might possibly be your last chance to save or greatly prolong your life. Please look at WLS as a gift to help yourself and who cares if people know .Anyone who cares about you 100 percent will respect your decision and be supportive and if they dont then you probably dont need them in your life.I wish everyone good luck with their journey .

That's good you have support from your husband and mother. My mom doesn't want me to do it but she will be OK after I have it. I probably have to start rethinking this relationship with my husband. At this point, I'm like if you can't support me then you and I need to move on because it's a daily battle and a daily argument about it and frankly, I'm over it! I do find there is good support here. We are all like minded.

I’ve told many people about my sleeve surgery (10/10/18). Some were supportive and some were not. I found it an excellent tool to weed out the negative people in my life!! If you can’t be happy for me in my journey to get healthy, then I really have no desire to have an ongoing relationship with you! (Thank God it wasn’t anyone like my husband or mother!!) And that is my favorite thing about this group. Everyone is SO supportive of one another and I just LOVE it!! ❤️

Yes. I used it after my surgery. It was preferable to crushing up the Tylenol pills and the Percocet I was prescribed made me so sick I couldn’t take it. I took liquid Tylenol for a few weeks for my surgical pain, headaches, cramps, anything.
I bought it at Walgreens and Walmart right by the regular Tylenol. There was no cold medicine in it.
To me, anything was better than crushing meds.
