  1. I was precribed percoset but never filled it. I didnt use any pain meds in the hospital since i woke up from anesthesia
  2. Walk walk walk. Take your time and rest a lot.. the first week your body will feel like it was hit by a truck.. you will be slow moving, but the more you walk the quicker you will heal. SIP SIP SIP even if you are not thirsty. It takes all day to get 64 ounces of water in. literally. I know that seems impossible now, but if you constantly sip then you can do it. As you progress through the food stages.. its even harder, so set timers, schedules.. plan...(im not one to talk i been drinking this cup of coffee for an hour LOL) I am behind already today. You will be going all day drinking. Its a constant planning your food. Dont be alarmed, your sense of smell triples LOL you can and do smell everything! Switch up your protein..get a couple different types so you dont get bored with the same thing over and over. If you are a coffee drinker. use protein for your creamer.. does wonders! Good Luck! See you on the losers bench!
  3. Like the ladies said. Keep walking. The gas pains go away completely by 2 weeks. I think mine was a little over a week. I do not recall now. Focus on what you and walking, and drinking your liquids and you will get to being healed faster.
  4. i had the sleeve, and i was in hospital for 2 days. dr. protocal. I had surgery on Thursday AM and went to work on Monday.. but i had no issues since waking up from surgery. Everybody is different. Also your job requirements could be different than mine which may have you out longer depending if you are on your feet, if you have to lift stuff. I have a desk job and was fine to go back to work.
  5. Think about this.. in all aspects of life.. the only people you see say something for the most part, are those that have issues. Whether it be with surgery, restaurant experiences, shopping online issues.. customer service issues, any issues.. 10 bad to 1 good as the good have no reason to complain, they rarely will say anything.. There is a lot of good out there. This is your journey, not those of others. I saw a post on fb the other day where somebody said.. i have had no issues, am i the only one.. It was nice to see over 100 comments of the same thing. I for one have had no issues, yes i had the sleeve, but still no issues. No pain issues since awakening in the hospital, no food issues (besides the occasional eating too fast). no water intake issues.. so there is good out there.. Stop reading what everybody else is going through and focus on what you can do for you. There is so much information on the boards of what happens to others, but that is others, and doesn't necessarily mean you. What you can do with the information is be prepared in case something does happen to you and you will be armed with how to tolerate or handle it which will then make your transition a lot easier. Good Luck and feel better!
  6. Prayers coming your way! I hope you feel better!
  7. i am taking pro choice Bariatric with Iron.. Purchased on Amazon.
  8. Give your body time to heal first! Emotions run on high immediately following surgery. Good Luck on your journey.
  9. Same here. I came home from eating out with my daughter the other night and the next morning i told my son in law.. take the dinner from last night.. it will take me a month to eat it LOL.
  10. Hmmm.. Dont know bryce. saw a bryce 86 but not sure if that is who you are talking about.
  11. Check the other thread. I just put suggestions in there. They are making me nauseous now too. So i make my own.
  12. Too funny Mouse.. Although. I went to panda express today to get plain chicken teriyaki without any of the sauce.. LOL Seriously after 2 bites I could not eat it! I was driving home and called them and said what did you give me SPICY chicken teriyaki? I had explained to the manager that i had surgery and could not eat the food and could not drink because i had eaten and my mouth was on fire.. LOL.. She laughed.. not at me but said.. maam your taste buds are changing.. we have always had pepper in our chicken teriyaki but most people dont notice.. LOL she must have had surgery herself.. how else would she know about taste buds changing.. She said LOL i would freak too HAHAHA.. She totally refunded my chicken and said not to worry about it.
  13. Hey All, I am actually looking for a workout buddy in the Orlando Area. I just moved back here a little over a year ago, and most of the people I know are through work.. even though i know some folks i worked with a long time ago before i moved out of state. Anyways.. I am looking for somebody that wants to be accountability buddies at the gym.. I am right now trying to decide which gym i want to join in Jan, but join i will LOL.. Right now i do ballroom dance classes a few nights a week near Universal, but am also wanting to do the gym on nights i am not at the dance studio so i can make sure i keep my exercise routine going. I just HATE going to the gym by myself. LOL.. I dont know the reason why.. i just do.. so if any of you out here are in the Orlando area and are looking to have a gym buddy... please let me know.. I need to get my butt in gear and quick! lol. Thanks
  14. Probably 6 weeks Min. But definately discuss with Dr.
  15. what are you drinking now for protein.. Also check the Harder than Expected Thread. I just posted some ideas over there for somebody else that just asked.
  16. if you drink coffee use the shakes as creamer. Get some sugar free syrup and add flavor to the shakes to help the taste. I have heard some people say they add a little water to thin it out some. I also get Protein2o. That has 15g of protein and can be used to substitute some of the shakes. Premier also has a clear protein drink. I am now 6 weeks out and still have to drink shakes, but i have set aside the ready made ones for when i am on the go and bought 25g per scoop 100%whey and i make my own shakes now. It helps to change it up. Being 6 days out you are on full liquids probably.. Get some genepro.. its unflavored and can be mixed in your soups.. it has 30g per scoop ( and the scoops are tiny -so you get a lot out of the little bit). Hope this helps.
  17. My number one issue so far.. at 6 weeks post op, just started recently as i am adding new food to the plan and can now eat real foods. My issue and struggle is the time between bites. I tend to eat bite after bite and then by bite 3.. i cannot handle anymore. I have counted the bites before swallowing, and somebody recommended on one of the threads the bariastic app.. I have tried that and the timer is for chewing. I have a timer on my phone and could resort to that also. Most of the time when at work i am fine because i dont ever actually take a lunch break. I eat while working and so that helps to space out the bites. My issue is more when i am home. I sit down at the table to eat. So unless i dont do meal time and do something while having dinner.. i still eat too fast. Tonight i was here.. LOL Posting while I ate my Real Good Snack Pizza.. so it was ok.. But i am looking for other ideas because if there are people around or i am in a restaurant it can be rude to constantly be on your phone or not paying attention to the people you are around. Most people in the resturant setting, eat, eat, eat LOL. This happened the other night when i went to dinner with my daughter and her new boyfriend. ( It was meet the boyfriend time) and after 3 bites (real small ones ) of the grilled chicken, i was done.. could not eat anymore. I know i will need to start to up my calories, but if i am struggling to get in 2 to 3 ounces of protein.. then how am i ever gonna get to the veggies LOL.. Anyways.. I am brainstorming here to see what i can come up with. It may take me a week or so to figure this out.. each stage seems to do that.. by the time you figure it out.. you are on to the next one lol AnyAll suggestions and Ideas are welcomed. Thanks
  18. I am different. I am not ashamed of what i have done. After all we are still putting in the hard work. It isnt easy doing this. This is not the easy way out. In my office.. Most know what i have decided to do. For one, i work in a small office and we are like family. For two.. if something happens to me during work ( like it did the other day when i couldnt tolerate chicken... ( had my head over the trash can for hour and a half) How else are they going to know if i need help with something. My co workers are very supportive of my decision. When they order food out, they are very considerate of what i can and cannot eat, and accomodate to what i can do. The person who order supplies, specifically orders decaf coffee for me to keep at my desk so nobody drinks it all and i am left without. I consider my co workers a part of my support group. When i was on liquids they would ask.. what can you have here are our options.. etc. Now if you want to keep it private, that is also fine.. we all have our reasons.. for one.. ppl in the office are going to notice the changes in your eating habits, etc. You may want to bring up something like Orchids said.. you are investing in you for the new year and decided to start early.. You want to make sure your decision works for you so you are doing it under doctors care and supervision. I would rather my office work with me than against me. After all, we are at work more than we are at home.
  19. I also think we in the post WLS are more aware of the food and our surroundings. I for one.. can smell something now over 10 ft away and it drives me bananas. People in today's world look at food as a second nature must do.. Forget restaurants and serving sizes.. we in America do not even think about the amount of food that we are served, just that we have to clean our plates. If America keeps up this trend, this article is correct.. it is only going to get worse.
  20. The whole process is easier than i expected. I didnt have any pain once i woke up. I have no issues getting in water or protein.. even my first cycle post surgery.. while late.. was normal.. I feel very lucky.. overall. As for my struggles.. not drinking and eating at the same time.. and waiting in between. Getting sidetracked then having to catch up on my water. Trying to drink sip after sip without pausing and the biggest one.. Slowing down to eat. I seem to get too full too fast because i eat too fast. I need to install a habit of putting down the fork, spoon, whatever it is. and Chew Chew Chew.. Once i get these two things figured out.. I will probably be able to eat more. Right now i get full after 2 to 3 bites of anything and only eat 3 times a day.. I am now full menu so i need to be able start increasing my food intake somewhat so i can get more than meat (protein) in and start having a balanced meal.
  21. I have 2 cases of Premier left. I am at the point i drink them if i am on the go. I have started using pure protein.. 100% Whey and making my own shakes. They are lighter, less sweet and more of a liquid than premier. I have a slew of torani syrups and i just add a flavor i want for the day.. Changes every day !
  22. you can take protein water and ready made shakes!!! You can get them through security at the airport because they are medically necessary. I just went to DC and was able to take mine with me. I did an ASK TSA on FB as recommended and they said absolutely. The only thing is with the ready made shakes, you will have to pop them open so they can vapor screen them, and leave them in a seperate bin ( if you choose not to check them).. you can take them on the plane with you..
  23. It all depends on your weight. I happen to lose 20 but i started higher so i had more to lose.. Well 19.5 to be precise. The scale at home and the scale at the hospital were different by half pound.. Today i am down a total of almost 45 including the preop. I am good with this..My cycle showed up the night before surgery. Then again on the 17th of this month. I can say from all the stories i read about cycles changing.. I was lucky! Mine was normal, just 10 days late LOL.. Gone in time for Christmas!!! YAY! Anyways everybody is different so do not compare yourself to others, it will only frustrate you. This is your journey and you will be different than everybody else. Good Luck on your Journey!
