    ummyasmin got a reaction from gabybab in Hormonal changes like acne after WLS??   
    Zomg the acne is driving me batty. I was fine until a month or so ago and now my forehead looks like a Martian terrain. I've nicked some of my daughter's prescription anti-acne cream and ordered some retinal something or other but as someone who has never really had to deal with much more than a few pimples as a teen, I'm dying here.

    1. Okay so this sounds weird, but I’m setting a personal goal for August to avoid alcohol entirely.
    Wine had been creeping back unto my diet and then there was a tequila tasting and....well no wonder I had a bit of a stall lately.
    I want to average losing 2 pounds/week this month and that’s the ONLY way to achieve it.

    2. VGS on 2/6/19. Still losing and approx 20-30 pounds from goal weight.

    3. Weight this morning was 174.0 and I’m 5’7”. This puts me at a BMI of 27.2.

    4. Fun fact: back in 1991 I was eating lunch with a friend at a diner in Shawnee, OK. We were being pretty loud and laughing and dishing about different guys,etc (I was 23yo) and my friend whispered to me that there was some “really cute guy” in the booth right behind me eavesdropping on our convo and laughing.
    Me being me, I started throwing packets of sweet and low over my shoulder seeing if I could hit him. Apparently I got him a couple of times and told him I was “just sending some fake sugar” his way.
    After he left, the waitress came over and asked me how in the world was I brave enough to flirt that outrageously with Brad Pitt.
    My response was “who?”
    Honestly I’d been in pharmacy school for the last 5 years and had no clue who he was.

    Just thought it was some random guy.

    Keto Bagels Recipe
    These Keto bagels will make you very, very happy! Thanks to the ingenious mozzarella (Fathead) dough, they are gluten free and low in carbs.
    Course Breakfast Cuisine British Keyword gluten free bagels, keto bagels, low carb bagels Prep Time 10 minutes Cook Time 20 minutes Total Time 30 minutes Servings 6 Calories 231 kcal Author Katrin Ingredients
    1 1/2 cup / 175g shredded mozzarella 1 cup / 100g almond flour extra fine. 1 1/4 cup / 125 g when using ground almonds / almond meal 1 egg, large, beaten 4 tbsp / 50g cream cheese 1 tbsp psyllium husk powder 1 tsp baking powder poppy / sesame seeds optional Instructions
    Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius / 360 Fahrenheit
    Melt the mozzarella and cream cheese in the microwave (1 1/2 minutes on high) or in a non stick pan.
    In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients - almond flour, psyllium husk powder and baking powder. Add dry ingredients plus the beaten egg to the mozzarella. Combine with a spatula, then knead with your hands until you have a smooth dough. Alternatively, mix in a stand mixer or food processor.
    Form a large ball and cut into 6 segments.
    Form each segment into a log, lay them down in a circle and pinch the ends together to make bagel shapes.
    Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds.
    Bake for ca 20 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
    Recipe Notes
    If the dough is sticky, lightly oil your hands. It is easier to handle once it cools.
    The dough should be room temperature when it goes in the oven. This prevents the bagels from flattening in the oven.
    The bagel shapes should be tall and the hole a decent size (check my images). When the bagels rise, they also spread a little. This way you ensure your end product looks good.
    If you're using coarse almond flour / almond meal / ground almonds, increase the amount to 125 g / 1 1/4 cup.
    The bagels firm as they cool down. They can be reheated in the microwave or lightly toasted. You can store them in the fridge for up to a week or freeze them.

    I tell you what tho, except for here and a few select ppl, I'm not telling others what my goal is because I've had that many well-meaning ppl tell me it's too low even though it's literally the absolute top of the "healthy" BMI.

    TBH I think it says more about them and how overweight is the new normal these days.
    "We support you in your weightloss but we don't want you to be not the fat one in our family/friend- group".

    You may find after healing you can eat larger portions than regular surgery folks, if he didn't reduce the size of your stomach. My surgeon had to leave a bigger pouch because of scar tissue from my lapband so I have to be careful with Portion Control so I'm not taking in too many calories, but the malabsortive part has really worked for me. It's trained me (despite my stupidity) to avoid sugary carbs and too much fat because it feels so unpleasant to indulge too much. I'm at the point where the thought of eating regular icecream is unpleasant so I don't even miss it.

    So you can definitely work with the tool you have!!

    There's no reason to let people into your house who want to challenge your decision about your health. They don't get a vote and they don't get to make you feel badly.

    I originally said 199 and they said no problem (after being 300+ for years, 199 sounded like a pipe dream!). When I got down to around 220, I told them I wanted to aim for 170-180. They said as long as I worked really hard at it, that should be do-able. Got down there no problem. Once I got there, I said I wanted to be a normal BMI, so I was aiming for 150. They told me that that was pretty unrealistic - only about 10% of their patients who started at my weight could achieve a normal BMI. They said my weight at the time (around 175 or so) was perfect for me. Ha! That was pretty much all the incentive I needed. I doubled down and got down to 150 - actually, below!
