You're only 5 days out give everything time to heal and your whole metabolism to adjust
I've read many posts where people don't check their weight for weeks as everything has to readjust

I am mixing one TBLSP of GENEPRO (30g protein) in my yogurt, cottage cheeses, etc, to get in the needed Protein. Its available on Amazon and worth it. Absolutely no taste. I can't drink the protein shakes....ugh! Genepro is my life saver!

Way to go!! I have lost 21 since surgery. I had a bit of a stall when I went to pureed foods. I think I had lost a lot of muscle weight during the pre-op liquid and post op. I went back to work on the 9th, so my activity level increased about 500%. I was having a hard time getting in Protein, but doing better now. Staying hydrated is a little hard. At work, I keep a small bottle with me that is a mixture of Powerade Zero, Water, and ice. All my work clothes are too big now. Lol.

I was on Clear Liquids for a week. Now I am on full liquids. I had a little cream of chicken soup (strained) today. My program is pretty strict.

WOOHOOO that's great! I'm doing really well. I've lost 22 lbs My pants are are much loser and so are my tops. I'm having problems with the Protein Drinks and the Vitamin. I need to call my NUT and ask for another one. I just can't stomach them. I basically get my Protein from the foods I eat. I can pretty much eat anything as long as I puree it or chew it up really good. I made sloppy joe's the other night. I ate a little bit of it, without the bun of course. It was delicious LOL. I'm trying to get the Water in but that is just too hard. I'm probably getting about 40-50 oz of water so not bad.

Well, it’s been 4 weeks since our surgeries. So far I’ve lost 25.5lbs and I’m super excited about it.
I’m still struggling with my fluids and learning how to eat slowly.
    How’s everyone else doing???

6 months ago I decided with the support of my husband to start the long insurance approval process for gastric sleeve surgery.
5 months so my husband of 12 years informed me he was no longer attracted to me didn't think the surgery would work, and wanted a divorce so he could "live his true life."
The last few months have been unreal but I decided to go forward with the surgery even though most everyone recommended postponing it. I had the surgery last Tuesday (12/11) and my divorce was finalized today (12/17).
All I want to do is eat ice cream and drink wine, but since that is obviously no longer on the menu, does anyone have some advice for how I can get through the next 24 hours? Drowning my sorrows in Gatorade and chicken broth is not cutting it!

    Totally a valid question!

It does seem like "born and raised" Southern folks - especially those of us with deep family roots - would have a harder time with weight.

For me, food was always around. My grandmother (Granny) was my caregiver shortly after my parents returned to work up until I could drive. She had a garden, raised chickens and cooked everything in lard or Crisco - even some of the vegetables. Fried chicken every Tuesday. Giant handmade biscuits ("cathead" biscuits). Sweet tea in the fridge at all times.

Every family gathering revolved around food - holidays, birthdays, weddings, funerals - everything.

Not cleaning your plate was not an option. She was raised during the Great Depression and had 7 kids - you did NOT waste food. And as was said before, you ate no matter whose home you were at and what time it was - it was disrespectful not to.

    Bless their hearts. 🤣

I’m curious why he’s being put down when he chose Protein over sweets and junk. I’m wondering if everyone else is just jealous they can’t have it and this is how you’ve learned to cope through your own wls? Trying to wrap my brain around the non-support part of this.

    I started this journey @ 470lbs. I'm 8 1/2 weeks post op and today I weighed in at 399lbs!

This word is for all the pre-op/recent surgery folks. Stick with it...Follow the steps. It's more than worth it.
Good luck and God bless us all on this journey!

Met up with an old friend today and he told me that he was approved for his Gastric Sleeve Surgery. His surgery will be done within two weeks. As we were talking he asked me if I liked his new winter coat that his wife bought him for Christmas. I told him that it was nice and asked if he could return it. A puzzled look went over his face. He asked me why would I ask if he could return it. I told him by Winters end he will not be needing a 2XL sized coat. I told him that in all probability he will be at a large by next year and will need to buy a new coat. It didn't dawn on him that he would no longer be at this size for long. He told me that he got a lot of new clothes for Christmas and they were all sized 2XL. I told him that I was lucky as I had my surgery during the Summer and I had time to tell friends and relatives not to buy me any clothes for Christmas. He's going to see if he can return as much of the new clothing as he can. If not he will donate them to charity when they don't fit him anymore.
I know for me it took planning to get a new wardrobe and to donate my larger sized clothes. I went on all the department store websites and checked the clearance sections. I started looking during the Winter and I was able to buy Summer clothes on the cheap. I just needed to try to find out what size I would eventually be. (XL to Med) One thing I did do was cap the number of items I bought. Prior to weight loss surgery I bought clothes with abandon. I gave away close to 60 pairs of pants, 40 winter shirts, 30 summer shirts, a dozen pairs of shorts, numerous jackets and coats, etc, etc. Now I own 10 pairs of pants, 8 winter shirts, 10 summer shirts, 4 pairs of shorts and two jackets and one coat. I don't look for clothes anymore because I realized that I bought clothes to cover my obesity. The more clothes I bought the better I felt about myself. Today my better health makes me feel good and I tend not to need materialistic things like coats and a lot of food to make me feel good. That in itself is worth the price of WLS.

Very normal and the metallic taste usually is a remnant of anesthesia . If it still remains for your first post-surg appointment you can mention it to your doctor, but I'm pretty sure I am right.

Anyone from the South or living in the South? How has your journey been so far and where are you at in your journey?
I am from Nashville, Tennessee and lived there most of my life. I live in Ashland City now and I"ve been here almost 4 years. I had my sleeve done in Nashville at Centennial on April 3rd of this year. So far, I have lost 45 pounds at my last appointment at the end of September. From my home scale, I have lost a total of 54 pounds.
