GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br />
+
Hey guys. Just wanted to check in with everyone! I seem to be stalled a little at 232ish. Ugh. A little over 100# down though! Everyone seems to be progressing well on here! I have found that I cannot tolerate 99% of meat and the vitamins made me sick so I am trying to get protein in with beans and quinoa and the few meat sources I can eat. I have started doing the vitamin patches which is really a God send!

To straw or not to straw
Thank you guys! I have super sensitive teeth so I have always used a straw. I am trying hard not to use one but I am just a little frustrated with it. I have a 32oz stainless cup like a yeti that I love (if my water isn’t cold I don’t like to drink it). I LOVE seltzer water and I have given that up. I am sure it’s just nervous nitpicking as the SD approaches.

To straw or not to straw
Ok. So my surgeon’s office says NO straws. I don’t know why of all the things I could worry about that I have picked this to fret about but I have. I don’t understand how you ‘swallow air’ with a straw any more that without one. What is everyone else’s thoughts on this?

Smoking
I quit in July of 2006 when I had my youngest son (no nasty comments about smoking while pregnant please- he’s a strapping 12 year old). I actually had my husband go home and throw away all the cigarettes and ashtrays from the house and cars. He then thoroughly cleaned the house and cars and let them air out. So when I came home there were no remnants of smoking anywhere. Both of my parents smoked so it was hard for the first month going to their house but it got better. My parents don’t smoke anymore (my dad has had trouble with bacterial and fungal pneumonia and my mom has had sepsis and was on life support and recently had a lobectomy to remove the upper lobe of the right lung because she had lung cancer).

Liquid diet (pre op)
My surgery is today! I am currently freaking out. Anyways, if you know how to make beef Soup, you can just drink the broth! I bet that is so much more delicious than the canned stuff. I love making broth Soups like chicken and beef, but I was just too lazy! Praying for you and your surgery team! Today is the start to a new you!

Liquid diet (pre op)
Hey jultrim18! Thanks for the reply! When is your surgery scheduled? I love broth especially beef but was worried I would need variety. I’ve been looking for the flavored broths but haven’t found them except online. Are you having sleeve or RNY?

Need Advice on Talking to My Wife about WLS
I would definitely ask her to go with you to meet with the nutritionist as well so she can ask the questions she has - like the whole , well if you diet for 6 months thing- and the nutritionist can explain to her why that’s not enough for some of us.

Frustr8 I don’t know if you are a pray-er or not but I definitely am I am praying for you. I understand those financial issues all too well. God will pave the way if we just trust in Him.

Liquid diet (pre op)
I am so excited I can barely sleep at night! I have always been a big girl but I quit smoking in 2006 and that started the weight gain. Then I quit my job to be a stay at home mom in 2008(9) and that made it worse. Then in 2015 our daughter committed suicide at the age of 18 and depression and stress was the last straw. I now weigh 333lbs and can’t even remember being less than 300 anymore. I am still a stay at home mom and my son does online school so I am basically a homeschool mom too. I am also active with my church. I love to cook so I have always looked for ways to change things up - thus the questions about SF pudding and spices..... lol..... I am so sorry about your band turning on you like that! It sounds like you have had a rough go of it but seems like you are on the road to recovery both physically and mentally! When is your surgery date? Will be sending prayers before during and after!
