I can’t even begin to describe the changes in my life. I’m doing AMAZING. I feel incredible, I am running again, and I’ve finally mastered those effing kettle ball swings. I’m also down to a size 16. That’s right, a six-freaking-teen. I’m loving it!

My diet could probably use some tweaks. I’m averaging about 800 calories, and with the running I definitely need to kick this up a notch.

Still cranking out my Protein goals and fluid goals. I’m averaging 80g of protein and 90-100oz of straight Water (plus my 2 8oz Decaf coffee w/ premier protein!)

Additionally, I think my pouch is made of Iron. I still have yet to come across food I can’t eat. I still have no feeling of hunger so I suppose that could be an issue if I wasn’t strict about my eating schedule. However other than that I’m having no issues. This surgery was easily a great decision.

Hope all my fellow May surgery buddies are doing well!

    Annnd a picture for progress!

All went well. For the most part the pain feels like acid reflux??? Pop cycles help sooth the burning feeling but still there. Protein Shakes is helping too. @TaylorMade4One are you still hungry? I’m kinda getting that way too.

So I’m a week post ops, to say the least I never got a call from my coordinator before surgery saying I was approved only asking to pay her 50 bucks! That was a good laugh, I asked who it was and how did I know her. Then told her I’d make arrangements with the hospital the day of surgery. She was disappointed but so was I in her professionalism!

Still had to cook, clean and find the time to take a break on top of work and studying but you know what I’m pulling it off. I’m kicking responsibilities butt 4 days post!

Eating the same foods help, not super fun, but super effective to know your intake .
Always salmon, chicken breast, ground turkey, steak , etc then you only need to adjust amounts consumed.
I use the same version of MFP and instead of entering Breakfast lunch dinner, I enter everything in breakfast under a multiple add, sooo much quicker (plus I already know what I'm going to eat)

Well I am 6 days out and starting to feel good pain is going away and I can even move around a little faster, and I am even use to the liquid diet too, so I have to say I am glad I made this decision and am very happy I was able to stop my diabetic meds.

I waited 6 weeks. Started off slow with stationary bike for 30 min then gradually increased to stairs and treadmill. Just remember to take your time and do what you can. I wouldn't try pushing myself hard in the gym until 6 months post op. I'm 10 months post op and a size 4. The weight will come off.

My NUT said I coud try coffee after my 3 month visit but to introduce it slowly. I'm a Starbucks girl and order 2 shots of blond espresso over ice in a venti cup and then I pour my Protein Shake over it (premier Protein Caramel). It dilutes the coffee and adds great flavor so I do not need to add any cream or sugar. It takes me a little while to drink it but all the ice melts and it is 24 ounces of liquid every morning!

I was not told to track anything other than Protein and Water intake right now. There are sample meals and a list of approved food types to choose from. Almost everything is low fat and low sodium. As long as I stick within those parameters I don't worry about fats or carbs.

NEVER EVER EVER go to the Grocery store when you are 3 days in to your pre-op liquid diet. My preparation left a lot to be desired. I decided that starting my liquid phase 4 days early was a Great idea lol. They almost had to mop up the drool on aisle 9. I wasn't even obsessing over any of the wrong foods but those Rotisserie Chickens were calling my name laying there looking all Sexy. I am Thankful to say that I survived and left the Store felling like Conan The Barbarian all Rough, Tough and Victorious.

KRush88 reacted to insta_adventurer in “I’m so proud of you!!”
Does this sound condescending to anyone else? Maybe it just irks me so much because of my own situation. I’ve got a few people tripping over themselves to let me know how proud they are of me for having the surgery... mostly family members.

I am pretty open about having had surgery- so I know that opens me up to this sort of stuff... and comments like “before long that dress will be like a tent on you!” 😒😒

But what really grinds my gears about this “proud” comment? I completed my Masters degree this year also and these same people barely said a peep about it. I’m sorry, but in my mind getting an advanced degree is an accomplishment... having weight loss surgery to improve my health is just a smart medical choice. Obviously it’s something I’m working hard at... so yeah, it is an accomplishment, but I just feel that the “I’m so proud of you” comments are really, “I’m so proud that you’re going to be thin and attractive.” It just really kind of highlights how much importance some place on physical appearance and a number on a scale above all else.

I am not trying to diminish our struggles or experience with weight-loss surgery. I know we all fought for this and worked for this, but I’m pretty sure most of the ones telling me “I’m so proud of you” are probably the same ones who will think I took the easy way out and didn’t work hard enough to lose the weight. I was working plenty hard at this BEFORE surgery. I got to the point where at 340lbs I could actually do a push up, plank for 2 minutes, and make it through a 45 minute spin class and not die.

I have a family reunion in a few weeks and am already prepared to clap back when someone tries to give me their opinion about my body and my decision. So yeah- this is my contribution to the rants section. 😂😂

    Hello all,
This will be a lengthy post!
10 years ago I was sure getting this surgery was the quick fix to weight loss I was searching for. I thought I would get the surgery, no pain, no problems. I would self-pay and all my problems would be solved. I didn't think about the depression I was dealing with, the addiction to food that needed to be addressed or the I don't care attitude. I feel that at the age of 20 I was naive and nowhere near ready for this challenge.

    21-28
I challenged myself so much. I stop eating beef and pork for8 years. I started working out every week then a couple days then more and more. I started meditating to cleanse my desire for food. I tried lifestyle changes instead of quick fixes.

    10 years later!
I had time to deal with my depression, I'm wiser and have done years of research on the gastric sleeve. I educated myself year after year on something different about dieting, exercising, being mentally stable, loving me even when I felt I couldn't & understanding that being happy was to be found first, then I could see if this surgery was right for me. While I am truly happy with my life I haven't been happy with my weight in a long time. I wanted surgery to be happy with the person I looked at in the mirror, to be able to enjoy this wonderful life God blessed me with and to get back to a real happiness.

I’m 30 years old, married with 4 wonderful children (13,11,10&2), all natural births, very little pain after. I was sleeved 8/6/2018. I went through the doubts and nervousness a week before and a couple of days before the surgery. On the day of surgery, I told myself that whatever happens when I wake up I will deal with it with little complaints. I sighed up for this surgery and felt that I had properly prepared myself for what was to come. I knew the pain would be bad didn't know how bad but I knew the challenge would be great! I knew I would no longer be able to eat what I wanted any longer. A little over 3 days in and I'm happy, figuring out what works on this 2-week liquid diet and I WILL NOT GIVE UP! I WILL FALL BUT NEVER STAY DOWN! I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER WHY I CHOSE THIS NEW LIFE AND TRY MY BEST AT ALL TIMES!

Take each new stage slowly, a tiny taste at a time, and wait, and only take a couple bites. Any real food introductions need to be done slowly to see how your stomach will react, as you are not healed. It is different for everyone.

Hello! I'm on day 7 post-op and I'm getting excited for when I can sign up for a gym and start working toward some fitness goals. I'm curious how long you all waited before returning to/starting to go to the gym after surgery. I'm feeling impatient to get back to it but also don't want to sign up and then go and realize I'm not ready yet. I also have a couple good coupons/offers for signing up with no fees, so I'm trying to estimate how long it'll be before I'm back and if/when to take advantage of them.

    Thanks!

I weight once a week which I guess is not normal ... but I will also weight again sometimes if I have success in the bathroom and want to see if that made an impact. I also take a selfie on weigh in days so that I might eventually look back on the weekly selfies and see myself changing (?) I don't know I don't notice a difference in the selfies but I do on the scale...
