  1. These recipes sounds great ! Does anyone know if it is ok to do a soup like this on 5 days post op ? I am liquids for 10 more days before puree
  2. Yup I was thinking I will make my own ! I also got cream of chicken soup , it only has 9 carbs and 1 sugar per serving so that may be better overall .
  3. Shoot I almost did Campbell’s but so many sugars and carbs I got a progresso tomato soup but it has a lot of carbs 23 and sugar 9 maybe I shouldn’t try?
  4. I started last July and did my dietician meetings and did as well as I could to make changes, lost 7lbs. Psych evaluation is no biggie, don’t even think about it . Lost 8 more lbs on pre op liquid diet and I wasn’t even perfect - but had surgery on the 20th and doc was super happy with my liver. Am down another 5 lbs today, 5 says post -op. Yesterday felt great but let’s face it , it is major surgery and days 2,3 and 4 post up suck. Day 1 is not bad mevause of the morphine !? absolutely do a 2 night hospital stay Here is what u can do to prepare - hopefully U already work out - ramp up ur cardio and make sure u do tons of weight work and core work . Planks , crunches, etc . U can’t use ur core post surgery so U need a strong lower back to maneuver urself from lying down to sitting . And post surgery u have to move! Walk walk walk in hospital ! Then it’s over and all good! Good luck ! It’s worth it !
  5. Good for u ! Of course it counts! I am 5 days post op and I count a little 15 minute stroll as my exercise 2 x per day . Today a going to try to walk 20-30minte straight
  6. Surgery on the 20 th, home on the 22nd and reallypainful doing everything , drinking, moving , etc until the 24 th when I woke up fresh as a daisy . Did a fair bit of walking every day , that really helped gas and chest pain. But sneezed last night and it was excruciating!!! Owwww! Feel like I will try to extend walks now and get to 30 min continuously - hope to spin in a week to 10 days . Using liquid Tylenol to sleep at night
  7. Omg I would be doing the happy dance if I was down 32lbs in 6 weeks ?
  8. 12/20 was my date too ! Just starting to feel normal !
  9. I had my surgery the 20 th and could barely get anything but broth down on the 22-24th when I get home . Then all of the sudden my hunger came ROARING back last night . It seems this is common once your stomach is healed enough it seems to come back on line and say “feed me” !! But the reality is it is not really healed enough to handle solids , hence our need to to move through liquid to puréed foods . I am going to try the yogurt today and see if that helps and maybe try some cottage cheese early if necessary . But it’s quite odd and disappointing as I expected zero hunger post surgery?
  10. Funny I was thinking the same thing . There is a bariatric tomato soup you can make from scratch or maybe a heart healthy tomato soup would be ok ?
  11. Wouldn’t your bariatric surgeon have a point of view ? And or a dietician ? I would go to your medical team - never heard of loosing weight during pregnancy ! And if ur appetite is back full force u want to try to wrestle that bear down to the ground !
  12. I am going on say 5 post op and had my first shake today . Could only do a little in the am and then had more in the PM. All of the sudden tonight my hunger came roaring back! I’m a little freaked out .. how will I do another 9 days on liquids ? I am permitted yogurt , so will try that tomorrow. Any thoughts on soups , etc I can have on liquid phase ?
  13. I am on liquids for another week before I go to purée , what soups can I eat ?
  14. Keep walking ! Helps so much , I could drink water today without pain
  15. Omg ?? certainly happy I didn’t know these stories before surgery ! The whole thing was scary but I can happily tell anyone who needs to pay out of pocket where they can safely go in the states for the best surgeon and best of care . I feel almost normal today and am done 11lbs! V happy all seems to have gone well , 60lbs to go !
  16. I had surgery Thursday the 20 th and was on morphine till Friday at 1pm. Thought this was easy peasy until the happy juice wore off ! LOL! Then they gave me liquid Tylenol that night and now it’s my nightly ritual for a while . Zofran for nausea, but I dread giving myself a shot in the am !?
  17. I’m in florida Jenn, but they told me of a mobile hydration unit that will come to ur house and give u fluids if u r having trouble getting fluids in. Doc said u need to pee 4x per day and if urine goes dark, call him and unit . Fluid intake super important
  18. My doc gave me 2 weeks of zofran shots for nausea and I think that really helps . I also get tired very quickly and I was in pretty good shape prior, doing 5-6 days of spin and yoga before surgery . My 82 yo mother had more energy than me on a 10 minute walk 4 days after surgery ! I found that I get super tired when not enough liquids and. Frankly I have been maybe on 200 calories a day for a few days so hopefully today I can get in some protein and get more energy .
  19. Surprised weight loss would cause back pain, usually it helps ! I had back pain after surgery too but think it was 2 nights in that god awful hospital bed and then not being able to sit myself up without excruciating pain. I did a lot of core work and planks to prepare but still very sore . Liquid Tylenol and some time on a heating pad helped . I also was adjusted before surgery by Chiro, wanted to go in straight ..
  20. Wow never heard of a surgeon not doing it because of an enlarged liver ? Thought that liver shrink diet was just BS to get u to stop eating for a week before surgery to get in the groove !?. As far as recovery and meds, I was on morphine for about 24 hours after surgery , then just had a liquid Tylenol at night before bed to sleep . Getting up from a laying down position hurts for sure and initially rolling to ur side and pushing up hurt too but am coming to say 5 post op and today is definitely better . I expect to be sore for another week to 10 days and will have to be careful lifting for 2 more weeks . Worst part for me is the inability to swallow very much water at one time . Lots of chest pressure when I drink , but I had a hiatal Hernia fix as well so maybe that makes it worse.. still, am adamant I will get liquids and protein down so I don’t dehydrate and don’t lose my hair !
  21. Wow , surgery on dec 19 and ur eating food ? I had it Dec 20 and am still on clear liquids . Finally got some diet jello down yesterday . Today going to try my slim fast and pure protein shakes but I have trouble doing more than 2 oz every 15 min. I too am still very sore in the midsection , but walked 10k steps yesterday and gas/bloating much better . Burning a hole in my parents carpets wandering around the house ! LOL
  22. I love pre mixed pure protein in the can - Trader Joe’s carries . I heat up the vanilla in a cappuccino cup for 50 seconds and add decaf Frenxh vanilla - perfect ! I’d drink even if I was at goal !
  23. I am flying home 6 days post op . Biggest fear is lifting so am working hard to organize that . Otherwise no biggie in my view
  24. Wow johnathon you are doing amazing !
