  1. Hidivaliciousdee ~ That is interesting info. Thank you for sharing. I had no idea that Ambien was a narcotic. That must be why my doc was concerned. I too wake up a little groggy (is that the correct spelling...looks weird?) and it takes a bit for me to feel awake. Perhaps I'll try Melatonin that Alexandra suggested. I saw it on the front page of the Walgreens ad this week, so it's on sale. :clap2: I am always up till at least 3AM every night, but that has been my regular schedule for a long time now. It gets bad if one of my boys have trouble sleeping b/c I'm already getting to bed late and it's hard to lose that much sleep. bubbame20022003 ~ Bless the hearts of little ones....they do need their mommies. I take Ambien as I stated earlier, and I've never failed to wake up when I'm needed. I even hear them in the mornings if they get up b4 me. I can't speak for Lunesta, but for me, Ambien doesn't affect my mommy duties. I'm convinced that there is nothing better for a mom than a good nights sleep. I hope your able to get that soon. :notagree
  2. May God bless you and your little one!! Enjoy your pregnancy. :clap2:
  3. YIPEE.....love that happy dance! :thumb::dance: Do you have your surgery date yet?
  4. Hi Penni60....I went to my PCP 2 wks ago b/c I couldn't get to sleep. Like you, I would lay there and close my eyes, but my mind would not shut down. It felt like my eyes were WIDE  open even though I knew they were physically shut. I've had this off & on during most of my life. I know part of this is everyday stress along with being excited about my band. I always have to visit LBT b4 going to bed and it would probably help me to stay away from the computer late at night....like that's going to happen. :rolleyes Sorry that I drifted a bit there.....anyway, my PCP put me on Ambien 12.5mg, and told me he only wanted me to take it for 3 nights and then try to do without b/c he doesn't want me to become addicted to them. Needless to say, I've taken them everynight just b/c they help so much. It does take me at least 1 hr to get sleepy enough to go to bed. Since you have experience with this, what is the concern my doc has? I don't like taking meds, but I do take Effexor once a day and the Ambein doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I don't drink or smoke and my only addiction is food, so is it a bad thing to become addicted to this? I've seen commercials for Lunesta and noticed it has a different main ingredient than Ambien. I wonder if Lunesta reacts differently with the Effexor. A good question to ask my doc I know, but I'm not sure I want him to know that I took the Ambien more than 3 days. He gave me a 30 day supply so I'm hoping to wean myself by then. It would be nice to try the Lunesta since you indicated it works much faster. Also, do you take any other type of meds that help calm you such as Effexor or Xanax? I ask b/c I'm wondering if I need talk to my doc about changing the Effexor since I've been on it for a while now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :clap2:
  5. Hi spnfly2 ~ You may want to try Dr. Christopher Evanson in Indy. He is going to do my lapband once I get approval. I remember him saying he removed a band from somone that had been to MX, so I'm thinking he may be willing to do fills. I don't know that for sure, but it's worth a try. Here's his website: http://www.gsciweb.com/index.php . Another option is to contact the St. Vincent's Bariatrics Weight Loss Center. Perhaps they can help or refer you to someone that can. Here's their website: http://www.stvincent.org/ourservices/bariatrics/default.htm Best of luck to you....I hope you can find someone that fits your needs.
  6. This is the BEST laugh I've had all day....THANKS!!
  7. I'm sure you are terrified. Don't worry about tyring to be supportive right now. You have given so much already and perhaps you'll never know how much your words have meant. NOW is the time for you to lean on everyone else. That is what this board is all about. When you feel up to it, post for support and I know without a doubt, you will find warm arms waiting to hug you. I read in one of your posts (correct me if I'm wrong), but I think you are in mgmt. I know for myself, it's hard sometimes not to be the one in control and have to ask for help. Don't be afraid b/c you don't have to face this alone. You are in my mind & prayers and I know that goes for a lot of others as well. Take it one day at a time!
  8. Thanks for sharing that info vinesqueen. I can't imagine how you feel, but I'm sure your in the best of care. Learn as much as you can and ask lots of questions when you see the docs. Of course, you already know this....I'll keep quiet. :kiss Keep your chin up and try to post as often as you can. You are a very special person and have a lot to offer here and there is so much we can all learn from you.
  9. WOW....that is wonderful! :clap2: I'll be sure to purchase that issue when it comes out....let us know which issue. That's awesome!!!
  10. Hi SALEMKITTY ~ Welcome to LBT! :welcome: This is great place with a lot of super people. I'm preband so can't offer any advice on the band or MX....you will find a lot of people here that can help you. I am waiting on insurance since they do pay for the band after jumping through many hoops. I will be having my surgery in Indianapolis with Dr. Evanson once I get the green light. I wish all the best on getting the money for MX. :gluck: Keep us posted on how things are going. ~Hope to hear more from you~
  11. Congratulations!! :clap2: You've been on my mind and I'm glad to hear you've gotten some good rest. That's encouraging. I'll have to boot my husband out of his big boy recliner after my surgery. Take it easy and keep us posted on your progress. I bet Mr. Hobbs was glad to have you home.
  12. I'm giggling b/c that's what I thought at first. :loco:   Then I quickly caught on after reading more posts.
  13. Thanks Penni60....I am preband and you sure have given me some great things to think about. I've never thought about meditation, but it would make sense to get in touch with your insides b/c I've always listened to my head. :faint: Thank you so much and I appreciate your posts!!!
  14. Hi illude ~ You are truly amazing & as so many others have said, a great inspiration! :whoo: I am so glad you joined LBT so you can share your wisdom, especially with us newbies. I'm preband and waiting on insurance so needless to say, I am very impressed and more convinced than ever that the band is for me. :clap2: I wish you all the best on your new journey of PS. I asked my surgeon if he thought I would need it, and he said you can never tell who will need it and who will not. I'm sure you'll find some great PS advice here. :gluck:
  15. Come to think of it, that's a great description of Dr Phil & way tooo funny!!! :heh:
  16. Ask your surgeon about HMF Replete. I took this last year after my chiropractor recommended it. Here's a link and you can do your own research: http://www.rockwellnutrition.net/product.asp?itemid=242. My husband's surgeon approved it for him after he had colon surgery and said it would be very good for him to take it. It is kind of expensive, but it offers the human strain of the "good bacteria" similar to what is found in yogurt in the dairy form. I'm glad you brought this up b/c I will add this to my list of questions for my surgeon as I am preband. Best of luck whatever you decide to do. I hope you get relief very soon.
  17. My husband sent this to me today from work and I just had to share, especially after the chocolate thread. :faint: Enjoy..... I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me and we all could use more calm in our lives. By following the simple advice I heard on a Dr. Phil show, I have finally found inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed that the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started. So I looked around my house to see things I started and hadn't finished; and, before leaving the house this morning I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Zinfandel, a bottle of Baileys, a bottle of Kahlua, a package of Oreos, the remainder of both Prozac and Valium prescriptions, the rest of the cheesecake, some saltines and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how freaking good I feel. Pease pass this on to those you feel are in need of inner peace. No need to thank me.

I voted & fell on love with Mr. Hobbs. I have had 3 apricot poodles during my lifetime and I love the breed. My first one lived 17.5 yrs....talk about losing a family member....it was very difficult. We currently have a lab b/c the breed is a little more patient with children. I hope Mr. Hobbs is a big winner.....he has already stolen my heart. :gluck:
  19. I am pro-band and would never get any other type of WLS. With that being said, I have no idea who Dr. Pleatman is or his qualifications as a doctor, but I must say that my surgeon stated that the RNY is reversible. This thread sparked my interest b/c knowledge is power and I want to be informed. I am convinced that rny is indeed reversible based on my research. Here's a website that confirms this: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/RNY/about.html. As I have read Dr. Pleatman say, don't take his word or mine for that matter, do your own research. I believe you will find this statement to be true. Even to my VERY unexperienced eyes, this doesn't seem so far fetched based on this pic. Surely, with the miracles of modern medicine, they could put the organs back together. My husband had 12" of his colon removed and the surgeon didn't need the missing piece to put his colon back together. On another note, I don't think it serves anyone well to call names or attack someone just b/c you don't agree. This is a place for ALL beliefs and opinions and I think that it is in good taste to show personal respect even if you disagree with an opinion. If I am wrong, please feel free to correct me. I am open and willing to listen. We can all learn from each other if we keep an open mind with a positive attitude.
  20. Hi ejezyk ~ Your words are encouraging & congratulations on losing 25 lbs!! That is really something to be proud of. :clap2: It sounds like you can a good understanding of how to use your band....keep up the good work.:welldone:Thanks for sharing for us newbies and your words of wisdom. You are an inspiration....THANKS!!
  21. This is a great thread!! :clap2: It's nice to know I'm not alone on the chocolate thing. Actually, I kind of knew that anyway, but it's nice to hear others say they "HAVE" to have it in one form or another. When I filled out my paperwork for my surgery, I listed chocolate as one thing I couldn't live without. Something I recently discovered was Folgers Chocolate Silk coffee. I quickly became addicted to it. It seems to fill my need for actual chocolate at times. Word of caution though if you are trying to limit your caffeine. I used to drink one cup of coffee a day and now I drink 3 or 4. Here's to chocolate coffee......
  22. Hello Ms. Vicki and Welcome to LBT. Just think, only 2 more days!!! :clap2: I am so excited and happy for you. I love to hear the excitement from others when they get a date. It's an inspiration to me. I will pray for an uneventful surgery (in the good sense) and a quick recovery. :welcomeB:

Welcome to LBT Tfavre24 ~ I am new here also and I'm preband, just waiting on the green light from insurance. That's really special you were banded on Valentine's Day. :clap2: You will never forget that surgery date. You have found a special place for support. There is nothing out there better IMO. :welcome2:
  24. Hi brneyezz ~ I do not have the band yet but, I am 110% sure this is the way for me. This decision did not come quickly as my husband & I have talked about the band for the last couple of years. He used to work for Ethicon Endo-Surgery (J&J) and they are the company bringing the Swedish band to the US pending FDA approval, so he had some insight from the labs. In addition to a lot of prayers, I did research on my options and decided on the band for the following reasons: 1. I have to change my habits REGARDLESS of what surgery or weight loss road I take, so eating around the band does not scare me. It's only a tool, but a SUPER tool if used properly. 2. I need chocolate as LEAST once in awhile. Like Kim_8, I can let it melt and that will take care of my cravings. It's my understanding that this is not possible with bypass unless your willing to get really sick. 3. Less invasive, lower death & complication rate. All surgeries have risks, but my odds are better with the band. In addition, I have 2 boys ages 4 yrs & 3 yrs.....I just wouldn't risk bypass surgery. I too, also asked myself why I would bother getting the band if I can change my habits and exercise to lose weight. I have tried most of the diets out there and for me personally, the band is the missing link to my success. I can make all those changes, but the band will help me make it long term. They say it takes 3 mos (is that the correct number?) to create a habit. The band will help me create healthy habits by keeping me honest. Now that I've decided on the band.....I WANT it YESTERDAY!! I can't wait!! I'm sure there are many others that can give you more insightful reasons, but I hope you find something useful from my preband experience. It's not for everyone, but I want mine. :rolleyes
  25. I had a dream last night my insurance approved me for the band. :clap2: I have felt like "Wonder Woman" all day just thinking about the new me. Here's to dreams coming true!! :scared:
