  1. DUH....I knew that. I don't quite see the resemblance either, but love the pic.
  2. I wrote a post earlier & it disappeared. Well, as hard as this is to type again, I gained 1 lb. :cry Boo Hoo. I hate my TOM, but can't use that excuse next week. I am working out tonight so burn baby burn. I will make up for this next week. Hey DeAnn ~ Sounds like you all had a BIG time. Do you have any pics? Would love to see them.
  3. I know this guy from SNL and can't remember his name....it's driving me crazy.....I loved him though. Didn't he die of a drug OD? Joesette, you are too funny. I don't think you could be twins, funny nonetheless.
  4. Nope....my other son wore one in the 3 ft Water. However, all 3 kids held onto the edge and she did take them one at a time. You see, I was there b4 lessons were over and was able to observe the beginning and end. He understands the rules and with me being there the entire time, I can adjust to the deep water thing. Funny ~ This is their written policy: Viewing Classes: All parents are encouraged to watch classes on the pool deck the first and last days of class only. If you are viewing, please remain seated quietly on the bleachers. All parents are encouraged to wait in the lobby area or use other facilities. If your presence or that of a siblings distracts your child, the instructor, or the lifeguard, you may be asked to wait outside the pool area so as to maximize the child's learning process and not interfere with the class. I was all for this and planned to work out during swim class until yesterday. I will remain in on the bleachers. Just try to pull me away. I can understand the concern of distractions, but this has changed for me. I have a face to face today with the director and she offered to allow me to stay so I'm sure it won't be a problem. I have to say, they took my concern seriously and I commend them for how this has been handled so far. Alexandra ~ Sounds like you have much better security than our Y offers. There are boys, girls, womens, mens, & family locker rooms and all have doors at the pool and hall end. There are numerous doors for these precious little ones to use. Too many to let them roam. You all have helped bring up some important thoughts & ideas. Once again, I greatly appreciate all the feedback and experience!!!
  5. I don't know for sure if he does indeed do fills for MX patients, but it's worth a try. As far as his experience, he's the best IMO. He has been doing this for a few years now and trains other docs for this procedure. He even has people come from outside the US. He also told me the day of surgery that he does his fills personally....not by a nurse or other doc....HE does them. The only thing I can say is to try the 800 # above and see if he's what your looking for. Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS on your band. :clap2:
  6. Wow....all kinds of responses and I appreciate every one. It sounds like personal experience plays a big role in this. Very scary jqpublic....my biggest fear. REEIZBOOJE ~ I think this is where the deep Water philosophy is coming into play and it makes sense hearing that. I'm still a bit fearful and perhaps that will pass as the lessons go on. Fee ~ Actually they don't want the parents in the area and I haven't signed anything except my membership stuff. I will have to check that info. I will be there every minute from here on out. It's not worth the risk of my children's life. I will have no regrets....I will protect my children. Alexandra ~ I see where your coming from and I agree to a certain extent. In this situation, it wasn't clear if he was in the water or where he was. He could have very easily walked behind the teacher and gone into the pool. Like I said, he could have been at the bottom of the pool for all she knew. He is an obedient child (as much as a 5 yr old can be) and did follow the teachers instructions and only got out of the pool when told it was OK by the teacher.....the classes were ending when this happened. It wasn't a situation where he was running around during class. These are young children were talking about and it should have been very clear as to what the parents should expect when the class was over. Nothing was ever said regarding this. Yes, another class was coming in.....good point. However, NEVER in a million years would I allow my child, at this age especially, wander around in a locker room unattended. There are doors at both ends.....they could take off and be gone. Perhaps I am borderline paranoid, but God forbid they ever come up missing like that little girl in ID, it won't be from a lack of effort on my part.
  7. I love your sense of humor. Thank goodness for thumbs, huh? :pound:
  8. Boy, you make a good point here. Each time I spoke to the director today on the phone, I went into another room. This evening when my DH and I discussed it further, we made sure the kids were not around. Both of my boys definitely pick up on stuff like that. As far as he knows, nothing is wrong. I also told him that it was wrong to go into the locker room w/o mommy and he wasn't in trouble, but he needs to make sure and wait on me next time. He is to go directly to the bleachers and wait. Both of my boys mind me pretty well & I hope I made it clear enough to both of them....I think I did. BTW, thanks for the feedback on the deep Water. Your comments relieve some of my stress. I took lessons when I was little, all 4 of us kids did, and we always stayed in the shallow area until we could swim. I guess this is a newer way of thinking. maudeispam ~ I agree....the teacher should be slapped around a bit. I'm not done with her yet. This is eating me more & more. Especially after watching that precious little girl in ID that is missing. It breaks my heart. Anyone can grab a child at any time. Thankfully, the Y does have a policy against any registered sex offenders and they cross check it with the national registry. Of course, it still crosses my mind.
  9. Oooo....great advice Mandy.....I will have to check E-Bay!!
  10. Yesterday we started swim lessons for my boys (ages 4 & 5) at the YMCA. I had orientation for the fitness center during their class and arrived just about the time they were finishing up. My kids were at different ends of the pool. I saw my youngest get out so I walked over to get him. When I turned around to go get the older one, he was GONE!! I asked where my child was & the lifeguard that had been helping didn't know and she asked the teacher who was still in the Water hanging on the side. She said she had no idea. I didn't panic and followed the lifeguard into the youth locker room. There he was with other kids in the shower. Thank God he still has his trunks on!! I sternly told him to NEVER go into the locker room and stay by the pool until mommy or daddy comes to get him. The panic didn't hit me until last night and the fear of God came over me that my son could have been at the bottom of that pool for all that teacher knew. Understand this was not a teenager as an instructor, but a woman at least in her 40's and come to find out a lifeguard. Needless to say, I spoke to the director at the Y twice today. She was very understanding and I told her that I expect the teacher to know where my children are at all times until they are safely back with their parents. She agreed and said all the kids should go to the bleachers until the parents come. She also promised to address this with the teacher. She offered to allow me to stay and observe since they usually ask the parents to leave the pool area after the first lesson. You bet I'm staying and keeping my eyes on my kids and my workouts will have to wait for a different time (b4 or after their class). I am also meeting the director face to face tomorrow. I felt like my concerns were really taken seriously as this lady is the mother of 3 children herself. Regardless, I think I learned a valuable lesson today that NO ONE will care for my children and watch out for them any more than their parents or grandparents. BTW, this same teacher took this class to the 10 ft area of the pool the first day. My son does not know how to swim or float. Even though there were only 3 kids in this class, I still feel a little uncomfortable with this. The director said that all the kids will go to the deep end sometime during their session to help with the fear of the deep water. I still don't understand this. Does anyone have experience with swim lessons or lifeguarding that can relate to this philosophy? I want my kids to know how to swim and don't really want to pull them from the class. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!
  11. Bless his heart!! Maybe you can make some progress on the brushing thing. Good luck!! Archermom ~ I've seen that b4...very cute. Jack must have a lot of cats. :heh:
  12. Don't put too much stock into this article. First of all, look at the date....July 18, 2006 4:21 AM. I wonder how people have successfully been banded since then. It also refers to SUPER Morbidly Obese people as being the subject of the study. I would question as to whether they all had the same co-morbidities. Anyone can come with these results (in favor of lapband or RNY) if you take people that already have a high rate of complications. It's obvious to me that this writer did not research the facts. It's also very sad that this article may have a negative impact on someone considering the band if they fail to do further research. BTW, my favorite Protein Drink is Body Fortress in chocolate found at Wal-Mart. It has 20 g of protein in each serving. I usually mix it with 1/2 - 3/4 banana. LOVE IT!!
  13. I will have to try peaches or pineapple with my cottage cheese. It's a staple in my diet. Have you ever tried it with applesauce? YUM YUM!! :hungry:
  14. Love the pirate kitty.....too funny!!! It's Jack's cat indeed!!! sbmorgaine ~ How romantic:brushteeth: I sure hope he brushed his teeth first.
  15. I have not had this symptom and can't offer any help other than suggesting you call your doc ASAP. Maybe by bumping this thread, some others will reply with more experience. Good luck and I hope you are able to get this resolved quickly!!
  16. Oh no Funny :cry I'm sure you were devastated!! The good thing is the wonderful man your married to. Isn't wonderful to be married to someone that always makes things better? I guess this serves as a word of caution.....do something b4 it's too late. I may take mine off this week. It will be very sad without my rings though. :phanvan
  17. Holy cow!! I can't believe how much you all do look like your celebrity counterparts. Wheestin ~ I think you do favor Drew a bit in the lips and chin area. Now, grow you hair and show some cleavage and I think you've got it made. Tricia ~ You do have the most beautiful eyes I've ever since.....next to my son's of course.
  18. I think I'm going to wait for now b/c I'm too early in this process to resize at this point. Maybe I'll get one of those sizing bars.....hey DonnaB.....where do you get those? The jewelry store? Of all the problems to have, this is a good one. :cheeky
  19. Truly a shame. I spent a lot of time and $$ at Babies R Us during my first pregnancy. I guess that is going to leave Wal-Mart.
  20. Guess who rules this house. Are there any other kitty lovers out there?
  21. I went off the Seasonale earlier this year. I did, from time to time, experience the break through bleeding. The longest it lasted was 2 wks. I think it's our bodies way of telling us that it needs to have a cycle. I went off of it b/c we want more children and I was concerned it may have an impact on eggs & such....only a rumor I've heard from word of mouth and can't get any health care professional to back up this claim. Let me tell you though, I HATE my TOM and every month I ask myself why I'm not taking the Seasonale. I tell myself I'm doing the right thing. Hmmm....maybe not.....I don't really know for sure. I was banded on May 26, 2006 so the band/weight loss did not have an impact on the Seasonale. It will be interesting to hear other responses on this subject.
  22. Wow....good info to know. I shop there once in awhile and even like their online store. Thanks for the heads up. It seems I heard the company was having financial trouble earlier this year and was going to close some of it's stores. I bet they may be going under and this is just the beginning. It would be sad b/c they do offer a nice selection.
  23. I was in our pool yesterday and noticed my wedding rings were doing circles around my finger. This morning in the shower, I noticed the same thing. I've only lost 23 lbs and I'm wondering when I should get it resized? How loose is your wedding rings....or any rings for that matter? When you plan to have them resized?
  24. Here is a great link I have in my favorites. You can search by state. http://www.surgicalreview.org/locate.aspx
  25. Hey Rachel ~ Do you realize you have lost 4 BOXES of stick butter? Imagine taping 16 sticks of butter somewhere on your body. That's how much you've lost!! That is SUPER GIRL!!! Don't under estimate the impact 4 lbs can have on your body. I also have a feeling you can take off the rest without meds. You can do it!! Drink lots of water too. It may seem overwhelming, but take it one pound at a time.
