I was told to stop eating when I was no longer hungry, and not to keep eating until I felt full. Its taken me some time to learn the difference!

I don't track calories or weigh food and was never told to by the surgeon or the bariatric nurse. I was just told to 'eat small, eat healthy'. I keep a food diary and record my weight weekly, but that's all. Food doesn't control me any more, so I don't want to spend more time thinking about it than I do currently. It's just there when I need it.

I think this post of FluffyChix's is the crux of the matter for me. It is all about knowing myself. Like her, I knew what sort of behaviour resulted in obesity, and like her, I need to be accountable for it.
For me, my Achilles heel was alcohol (2-3 glasses of red wine a night) and portions of healthy food that were just too large.
Now I've cut out the alcohol (apart from special occasions) and got the portion size right, I feel I'm in control. But I recognise that different people have to do different things to be in control.

I haven't taken selfies, so I've found pictures of me 'before and after' with my best friend.
    (ps...I was the fat one!)
98 lbs down...only another 40 lbs to go!

My close-up pictures of the puffins were rubbish (I'm a cr*p photographer!) but I did get one of them at sea.
ps Put me on a boat and I'm instantly happy! 😀

This is me and the other half at Fingal's Cave on the Isle of Staffa in April. I was seriously layered up because it was freeeeezing! Of course, the OH was walking round with his coat open because he's Northern and hard... 😲
We got out and walked round to the cave, which was awesome in the proper sense of the word, then walked across the island and saw puffins nesting - unspeakably cute! Mind you, I don't go walking there every day....

I've never had dumping with the trots either. I get cramping, sweating, weakness and vomiting. Just had it three times (and that was enough!).

looly got a reaction from Bastian in So what are you unable to eat now?
    There's nothing I can't eat.
However, I have to be very careful about spacing out the meals and keeping the quantities small.
I had a small roast chicken dinner at a friend's yesterday, then two hours later had a tiny smidgeon of apple pie and ice cream...cue the most horrendous dumping syndrome. It's only the third time its happened, but I should have known better. I didn't want to offend my friend, who'd cooked the pie specially, but I suppose vomiting violently down her toilet was more offensive! 😲

It's interesting that you should say that about carbs...I ate a lot of Protein in comparison to everything else to begin with, and had pretty awful Constipation. The nurse told me to increase the proportion of healthy carbs and the problem sorted itself out.

Actually, this is a better comparison. My best bud Nicnac found a picture of us ten years ago and put it along side the similar picture of us taken last weekend. They don't look so very different - I'm well chuffed!

Go back to eating like you did when you first got WLS forever diet. Follow the do's and don'ts to the letter. Grab your mojo by the balls! And follow your rules.
    Congrats on losing 140lbs!
    Congrats on maintaining your restriction.

I've been on this site for just over a year and I've never seen any threads of the 'Help-I've-lost-too-much-weight!' variety. I shouldn't worry about it if I were you. If you've done your research and are happy with the risks, then do it - the rewards are worth it. 🙂

I’ve got the Iron sleeve too - nothing bothers it based on ingredients, but I have to pay attention to quantity. Some foods I can eat quite a lot of without problem - others I can have a few bites and that’s it, I’m done. I don’t have dumping syndrome that I know of?
Most important is paying attention to how you’re feeling as you’re eating, and tracking any negative/full sensations. Like fries - I can eat them, it won’t make me sick, but I eat ten and I am done for the entire meal. Meanwhile if I start with the burger, I can eat the majority of that without feeling full. If you measured mass I’m sure I’m eating way more burger than fries, but for some reason the fries fill me up.
As a rule, anything sugary or fatty will fill me way faster than an equivalent mass of protein/carb/whatever. It’s actually been really convenient since I have a couple spoons of ice cream and I am genuinely done. The trick is not eating through the full feeling, or artificially spacing the food out to ensure you can eat more of it.
