  1. Hey all! Another Top 5 for my man Junior! Wahoo!! I felt bad for Kenseth, Gordon saw a chance for paybacks from Bristol and took it. Here is a quote from him Jeff Gordon on bumping Matt Kenseth at Chicagoland: "When it came down with five to go, he should have expected, if I could get to his bumper, there was going to be some action. One, because of what happened in Bristol - and I'm not saying I just was going to wreck him, but you better believe I was going to make life difficult on him. And then No. 2, just 'cause we're hungry right now." He's not going to win any new fans that's for sure.... I guess, he's still okay in my book, at least he's not Jimmy Johnson! Tony fans should be ticked, because that caution cost him big time in the whole points thing!
  2. Hey everyone! Well, I finally had to break down and buy some new pants yesterday. The ones that I was wearing were literally falling off! Guess what? I bought pants 2 sizes smaller and a couple of shirts that were a size or so smaller yippee!!!! I haven't weighed in the last few days due to TOM, so I'll try to weigh in tomorrow and update my prgress. I feel like I'm eating more now and think that I may have to go ahead and get my scheduled first fill on July 18th. I may be at a plateau... I've been tracking my calories on fitday.com and am averaging 1100 -1200 calories a day. I didn't get to exercise Friday, Saturday or Sunday, so back to the pool this evening. I'm trying to drink more water, but sometimes its hard! Question: How many calories are you guys eating? Congrats on the NSVs and the weight loss everyone! Keep up the great work!
  3. Thanks so much to Kyleighp! I received some great candles, the sweetest little girlfried book and the most adorable puppy note pads! Thanks again Kyleigh!:clap2:
  4. Maggie - Did you have an exclusion in your policy?
  5. Cool pics Karen! I hope my boy Dale Jr. can win this weekend! Time to Love Me, its cool that you get to go to so many races! Your comments about Jeff Gordon crack me up, he's okay in my book... I kinda feel about Jimmy Johnson that way though.. Missy4gordon.. you should get on here talking about Gordon stinking it up more often.. he won the next race after you said that! hmm..... I still think he'll get in the top ten. Later Nascar Fans!
  6. Congrats on the walking marz and on the loose clothing!
  7. DrewsLou -Congrats on the 3.4 lbs and on the gym thing! Linda - I'm between 5'6 and 5'7. I chose the goal weight of 155 because that would put me in the "normal" bmi range. I'd be happy with 199.9999, he he! Anything starting with a 1..... I have another goal: I WANT TO WEIGH LESS THAN MY OLDER BROTHERS BY CHRISTMAS! I can't remember when I weighed less than them ( I even weighed more at birth!). They both weigh around 225 lbs, so thats 49lbs to lose between now and Christmas! Think I can do it? I'm gonna try! I think thats like 22 weeks away, so it would be 2.22lbs a week! ( I might even the odds up by cooking for them he he... gonna fatten them up!) Keep it up everyone!:clap2: BTW: 3loves where are you?!
  8. May Band Crew September Challenge!!!!!!!!!! Current Weight: 274 lbs Start of Challenge Weight: 280 lbs - 6lbs Goal Weight by 9/13: 260 (-20 pounds to make it an even -50)! Mini Goal: 07/24/06 (My 35th Birthday :cry! ) - 10 pounds! LindaV - I just noticed that we started at almost the same weight and now we weigh the same! How tall are you? Congrats on the 2lbs! We are getting closer to our September goals!
  9. Wow Ousooner! I admire people who get up early in the morning to exercise before work. I'm one of those people who drag out of bed just in time to hop in the shower get dressed and go running out the door with my hair still damp! I always wanted to be one of those people who get up two hours early and sit around and drink coffee and watch the morning shows, but no can do.. Congrats on the exercise! I can relate sometimes I have to force myself into the pool, but once I'm in there, I feel much better! P.S. Congrats on the 48 lbs, that is GREAT!!
  10. HELLLOOOOOO! Where are you guys? On vacation? Hangovers from the 4th? Guess what everyone? I swam 20 laps in the pool last night! Along with 30 minutes of deep Water water-aerobics! I could never have done that before surgery and weight loss! How is the exercise going everyone? Hope all is well!
  11. WOW! Two milestones, over a hundred pounds lost and entry into wonderland, way to go!! YOU ARE AWESOME!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: P.S. Your feet are not ugly!
  12. Hey everyone! I hope you all had a safe and happy 4th of July! We had a huge cookout/pool party and I had a ton of fun! I'm soooo glad that I have this band! I nibbled on a hamburger patty with cheese, some baked Beans and potato salad (in the past I would have eaten soooo much more!). So far I'm finding that I can pretty much eat what everyone else is eating, I just eat about 1/3 of their portion sizes! I'm sooo excited to say that I've now lost 36 lbs(24 since surgery). I do find that I don't drink enough Water when I'm at home.. at work I actually make a conscious effort, but at home other things seem to get in the way... So I gottta work on that! I hope you guys are all doing great! Go May Bandsters! P.S. ... I also ate a small piece of pound cake with fresh strawberries with whipped cream! It was heavenly! (I know, I know not low-cal, but It was worth it!)
  13. Jolyow - go for the solid foods! I started them on Monday and have lost three lbs since then! They really stick with you! I agree that you may not be consuming enough calories. I think that anything below 1000 calories puts your body at risk of going into "starvation mode" and thats not good! Try tuna salads, chicken salads, moist chicken ground beef, well cooked veggies. just, CHEW CHEW CHEW!!! I'm loving being able to eat solid foods again! Best of luck to you! Also! Try to exercise everyday if you can. I've started doing deep-Water water aerobics for about 45 minutes every evening, and that has really made the difference. Do you have access to a pool, or do you like bike riding or walking or do you have access to a gym? Best of Luck to you! Don't worry, you will start losing again!
  14. Duckie - I went to your blog and can definitely tell a difference, you are looking great! Congrats!! I'm re-posting my challenge info here so that it will be easier to find! Good luck everyone! May Band Crew September Challenge!!!!!!!!!! Current Weight: 280 lbs Goal Weight by 9/13: 260 (-20 pounds to make it an even -50)! Mini Goal: 07/24/06 (My 35th Birthday :cry! ) - 10 pounds!
  15. Happy 4th of July Everyone!!
  16. Congrats on the restriction Linda! And congrats on the water aerobics. I love water aerobics!
  17. Hello all! I'm glad everyone is doing well! I am down 30 lbs since beginning the liquid diet on May 12 and down 18lbs since surgery on May 26th! I've lost a total of 37 lbs since January 10, 2006! Yippee! I'm feeling great! I just started this week on solid (soft) foods, and that has been awesome! A month and a half without solid foods is a looong time! It has all been worth it! Robin, I'm glad you found a doctor that will do your fills! If that doesn't work out, I can give you info on my docotor here in Chattanooga that you can check with. Glad to hear from you Tennessee Bandsters and future Bandsters! Good luck everyone!
  18. Good Riddance to Star! What a smart-aleck! She should have showed some class and some respect to Barbara!
  19. May Band Crew September Challenge!!!!!!!!!! Current Weight: 280 lbs Goal Weight by 9/13: 260 (-20 pounds to make it an even -50)! Mini Goal: 07/24/06 (My 35th Birthday :cry! ) - 10 pounds!
  20. Wow Linda, I had no idea that Disney took us larger folks into account. I just always assumed that they like all other theme parks catered to a smaller crowd. I guess I never wanted to travel that far, pay the prices that they charge and get turned away from rides because of my size. That settles it, I'm going to Disney! Never been in my life! You climb that Tree House Girl, I'm proud of you!
  21. I love Paula as well. That is basically her recipe for Salmon Croquettes (Patties), just substitute the salmon for the tuna and pan fry them in a little canola oil! They are yummy, just made them for supper last night! I'll have to try the Tuna burgers.. Sounds goood! Below is the exact Recipe for the Salmon Croquettes: 2 fillets canned salmon, flaked 1 egg, beaten 2 tablespoons green onions, diced (I just dice up a 1/4 of a vidalia onion) 1/2 cup bread crumbs Vegetable oil, for frying Over medium heat, heat oil in a medium skillet. Combine canned salmon, beaten egg, green onions and 1/4 cup bread crumbs. Form into patties and dust with additional bread crumbs. Fry until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side.
  22. Hey guys, I'll join the challenge! Twenty pounds by September 13th! We can do it! 3loves - So glad to hear from you! I'm glad you are doing well! You go girl! I know what you mean, I've been a little chicken to try the solids, but so far, so good! Thanks for the kind words. You girls crack me up about the horse riding. I've only ever ridden a horse once, and I was afraid the poor thing was going to collapse from my weight! This was in high school, so it's been a long time. I've already told all of my friends that when I lose enough weight, I'm heading straight for Dollywood theme park or Six Flags or even Disney World(never been there) to ride roller coasters. This is something that I've steered away from in the last 15 years or so because I was/am just too big for the safety bars to latch! How sad is that? Well, no more! I AM GONNA DO IT! Though, I'll probably hurl because I get motion sickness pretty easily, but its worth it! You girls are looking good, I'll post photos next month! I gotta get my before photos off my cousin's digital camera and get more taken! GOOOO MAY Bandsters!
  23. My schedule is as follows: Clear Liquids days 1-7, Full Liquids to Soft foods days 8-29, and Transition Foods (Soft Solid Diet) days 30 - 44.
  24. Drewslou - You look great! I think I'll post some picks at my 2 months bandaversary around July 26! I've now lost 18lbs since surgery, 30 lbs since beginning the liquid diet on May 12, and 37 lbs since giving up sodas in January!:clap2: I'm trying to swim or walk every evening. I hope I keep losing at this rate for the next couple of months(but I expect it to slow drastically). I'm eating soft solid foods now (tuna, chicken, soft/small chopped veggies, ground beef, etc.) and doing great! I seem to be staying full for at least 4 hours after eating a small meal, so maybe I can go without a fill for a while! So everyone.... what is your body's signal to stop eating? I tend to experience a slight pressure in my chest area, and then I'll burp. That's when I stop. For the first couple of weeks after surgery I got a pain in my left flank(back), but that seems to have gone away. I'm sooo happy with this band! So how are your incisions looking? I have had to trim a few pieces of stitching material closer to the skin so that they will disentigrate. All but two of my scars are almost completely healed looking. My port scar is the best one, it was the quickest healing and smoothest. Continued success everyone!
  25. Yes. I had to agree to at least six support group meetings before they would perform the surgery. My hospital offers a monthly meeting for Lap Band folks and also they have a weekly meeting that is lap band and RNY folks. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker who performs the Psych evals leads both the monthly and weekling meetings. They are really helpful. Last month's meeting had my surgeon nurse in there to answer whatever question you might have, which was really nice. I'ts always nice to meet and discuss how I am doing with people in the same boat.
