  1. Thanks for the answers guys! I can now let my friend know that it is okay to save me if I'm choking! :nervous He He!
  2. Welcome fellow Tennessean! I live just north of Chattanooga, TN and had my surgery at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. You'll find that there are quite a few Tennesseans on LBT! Congrats on your upcoming surgery and keep us posted. How is your best friend? Has she lost lots of weight. Again, Welcome!
  3. He He ladies! That's kinda what I was thinking. I told my friend that the band wouldn't do me much good if I choked to death! Hopefully no one in my office will stand around while I'm choking to death (heaven forbid) wondering about damaging my port or band! (Well, there might be a few mean hearted souls that would like to see me struggle for a few minutes!):phanvan
  4. I had a strange question yesterday at work. I was eating a banana, took too big a bite, and thought "UH OH", I'm gonna get stuck". Luckily the banana went down fairly easily and I avoided my first PB. My friend at work wondered into my office and I told her what was going on... She asked what would happen if I were to ever choke on something (not get stuck), but actually choke on a piece of meat or something.... She wanted to know if it would be safe for someone with the band to have the Heimlich maneuver performed on them. I mean if your actually choking, you gotta get it ... What do you guys think? Anyone with experience in this area? Something to think about!:girl_hug:
  5. GOOOOOO Puddinpie! Congrats! Awesome job!
  6. Hey Guys! I'm in on the 20 lb turkey take OFF! If I can lose 20lbs by Thanksgiving, I should be able to lose 35 lbs by Christmas! GOBBLE GOBBLE!
  7. Paladin - I just saw your question... yep Sasha was a White German Shepherd! Sooo Pretty with those big brown eyes. She was a great protector.... but she let my 23 lb Cocker Spaniel(Krissy) boss her around! What a sweetie! We planted wild flowers on her grave on our property.... I gotta admit that I talk to her when I'm in that area walking my Krissy! I know I'm nuts, but when you have an animal that long, they are family!
  8. Okay... I sat the last couple out, but I in for this one! I'll PM you Heather!
  9. Sorry Paladin and 3loves! I'm bummed that Tony didn't make the Chase! I hope OSU faired better! Talk to you later NASCAR fans!
  10. EEEK! Dale Jr. qualified 33rd! This is NOT good! Man I wish I could watch that race tonight instead of listening.. Everyone please do a rain dain starting at about 4:00 PM EST and ending around 7:00 PM EST in the North Georgia area. Thats the only thing that will get me out of going to the dirt track with my brother.(Please note, that I usually enjoy going and never want to miss watching my brother, but this is and EXTREME circumstance). He He! Go Dale Jr! Go Tony! Okay, for you Missy.... Go Jeff Gordon! Paladin - Just looked up the starting grid... Tony is 40th. What happened there? I missed qualifying last night, but did catch the last half of the Busch race (wreck-fest). TOM - Yep there are brothers, Kurt and Kyle Busch and the series below the Nextel Cup Series is the Busch Series. It's all good TOM. Keep posting! Okay people, I gotta go... I've delayed my Saturday morning work-out as long as possible. Off to sweat!
  11. Missy - I hadn't heard that Tony hit the wall! Looks like he will be coming from the back! That's gonna make the Race even more interesting. Paladin - Are you and 3loves totally bummed out about this? I am, and Tony is my number two or three man..... you think Tony is gonna get left out of the Chase? I hope not! Missy I voted for him (uh, I didn't want him to fell left out?) Well, that was a lame excuse, wasn't it? That is soo true about turning favorite past times into an ugly mess.. seems like I heard this week about some kind of brawl at a high school football game and adults hitting the children. Gadzooks! That is pathetic.
  12. Want2lose.... I love Saint Bernards! I had one growing up, her name was Heidi! What a sweetie! Congrats on your 120lb bundle of joy!
  13. I really think it depends on the dog and environment. We just had to put our beloved Sasha down last year. She was a White American Shepherd (60 lbs) and was 16 years old. The entire family bawled like a bunch of babies. I still miss her to this day, and it took a couple of months for me to get used to not seeing her. I walked in the door saying "Hello Sasha", forgetting that she wasn't there.... I also have a American Cocker Spaniel that will be 13 in November. She is soooo spoiled, but I wouldn't have her any other way. She always seems to know if I'm upset and climbs into my lap to give me a big ole sloppy kiss! I also have a mutt that I saved from being, shall we say, "the neighborhood tramp". When I first met her she belonged to a mentally challenged neighbor who wasn't really able to care for her. She had a big ole chain wrapped around her neck(no collar) and he would give her food and Water, but she couldn't reach it because of the chain. Slowly I got to where I asked if he minded if I walked her.. I got her a collar, fed her, etc. Then he decided to let her run loose.. I had to rescue her from the pound and get her shots. Next thing you know she was pregnant. I had to give all the puppies good homes and had her spade. Eventually the neighbor moved away and wasn't interested in taking Daisy with him.... His loss, my gain! What a sweetie! She went from that big ole' chain to living in my house with all the love and attention she can stand... I'll probably not get any more pure bred dogs in the future, there are so many mutts and rescues out their that need good homes. Way to go Nana, I'm soo glad you are helping a rescue! Your kids will love them! Dogs rule!
  14. Now Missy - Don't go getting on the Tony fans! He He! I gotta admit that I voted for Jeff Gordon in that poll! Sorry Sister! Glad to hear that Junior is at least on your like em' list... Yep, Kasey is definitely easy on the eyes! I think Junior has to finish in at lease 16th to be locked in. I'm gonna try to catch some of the Busch race tonight, it should be pretty good. Anyone know when qualifying is? I think that it is this evening... Hope Junior gets a good time! Later NASCAR fans!
  15. :nervous Okay TOM, I'll take you at your word! You gotta remember, us NASCAR fans are a fiery group (well, I am anyway!!) I love NASCAR and will defend it til death(upon PERCEIVED provocation), okay ,maybe not til death..... He he! :yield:So are you gonna watch the race at Richmond or not? Come on, give it a try! I guarantee you wil get hooked! It's gotta be more interesting than watching tomatos or pot grow! COME ON! Oh.. and Jesus first, family, friends, myself in there somewhere... NASCAR is pretty far up there! I gotta say, George W. is pretty far down on my list.... Though he did attend a NASCAR race last year and Cheney was at Daytona this year (they were slightly redemmed in those instances)! :usa: Oh, and the CAR of course! I don't see my man Junior winning on a Schwinn! Their isn't much the driver can do if the car totally sucks! Man, I'm kinda obnoxious today... off to lunch! Maybe hunger brings out the worst in me! Later NASCAR fans!
  16. Missy - I hope those people that voted that Junior won't make it aren't psychic! He He! It would really stink for him to not make it,again! It really sucked that they left Jeff's lugnuts loose, I think it would have been a great race between him and Kasey!
  17. TOM - I just have to wonder about your even posting to the NASCAR thread... You obviously don't support NASCAR, so did you just come to this thread for a debate and to make fun of NASCAR and its fans? This is a light hearted thread where NASCAR FANS come to discuss our favorite drivers, the Chase, the RACES. We are not here to debate (at least I'm not) over NASCAR and politics, the assumed social ignorance of us southerners, etc. If I have misinterpreted your intention, I apologize... But I don't think that is the case.
  18. TOM - In addition to the munchies, pot would totally kill their reaction time! It would however make for a lot less fighting and bickering! It would be nothing but giggles and love.. Humm.. maybe we should consider this more! Nah, I would love to see a good old fashioned NASCAR brawl aka the Alabama Gang and Cale Yarborough in the seventies/eighties! Now that is a classic! If all the drivers were smoking pot, they would be wayyy to mello!
  19. Paladin - It was Shane Hmiel.. ( I know this because his dad, Steve is Junior's Spotter and was temporary crew cheif for Junior last year some)... TOM- I have watched NASCAR since I was a young child and have an extensive family history of dirt track racing. My grandfather raced, my dad raced and has had many drivers over the years. Currently my brother and young cousin race at local dirt tracks every weekend. As a matter of fact, I'll have to catch Richmond on the radio this weekend from the dirt track. Racing is in my family's blood.. I was at a race track at three days old... I have not seen the Ballad of Ricky Bobby because I'm sure that it attempts to make a mockery of the sport that I love. I DO NOT APPRECIATE PEOPLE WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE SPORT MAKING A MOCKERY OF IT!! (By the way, I am a college educated, professional in the IT Industry). Just because people enjoy NASCAR, doesn't mean that we are uneducated, beer guzzling, disrespectful idiots! Though I know there are those folks out there... Ever caught a glimpse at the Talladega RV Parking? HE HE!!!! Also, the comments about watching people drive in circles kill me! Helloo!!! Its about speed, its about precision, its about technology and talent, and drafting and bump drafting and aeorodynamics, and teamwork and engineering and risk and luck.... Heck it has all the makings of a Hollywood Blockbuster action film rolled into one Sunday afternooon! OHHH!! I also fogot, its about money, millions and millions of sponsor money and time! Its the great american past-time! I'll take it over a bunch of over-paid idiot/thugs chasing a ball up and down a court any day!!:clap2: Tom- Paladin is right, NASCAR is truly a Republican sport (much to the chagrin of this Democrat!!) NASCAR dads were a rather large part of the demographic that voted your man Bush into office! Having said that, I hope Dale Jr. can clinch his spot in the top ten this weekend!! Paladin - I saw another poll on Fox Sports earlier this week that did not make me happy... It had all the top ten contenders listed and people were to vote for who they thought wouldn't make the chase... Guess who got the majority of the votes?! My Man Junior! It was like 70%. EEEK! I hope not! What's up with that? Richmond is statistically his best track! Missy - I too love that NASCAR, and for that matter almost all racing begins with the invocation and playing of the national anthem! You won't find that in any other sport! Later race fans! Have a awesome Frday and weekend!
  20. Happy Birthday September girls! - Sleepyjean and Linda!!:happybday: Janey - Rants and Raves is a forum on LBT, you can probably go read all that stuff and pretty much figure stuff out.... Just a lot of fighting and hurt feelings and anger. I would suggest that you stick to more positive threads like this one!:nervous MyChevygirl - Don't give up! :couch2: Myra - I know it to believe how little we eat. You'd think the weight would be coming off even faster. Linda - Congrats on the 60 lbs! AWESOME! You go girl!:waytogo: Drews - I wish only the best for you and your hubby! :wow2: That is sooo much for you guys to handle. I know everything will work out and you will both be happy and healthy! I'm soo glad that you made a contact with Inamed! Maybe they can help with the port situation! Paladin - Let 3loves kow that I'm thinking of her and hope she is faring well. I can definitely relate to the TOM thing. I seem to be all out of wack! Must be the weight loss messing with my hormones! Duckie - 30 minutes on the treadclimber and 4 mile marathons! Thats sooo impressive! You inspire me to work extra hard at my exercise physiologist session tonight! Keep up the good work!
  21. Hey Guys! I haven't made it to the Tennessee thread lately, I gotta check it more often! I live in Soddy Daisy, TN and was banded in late May by Dr. Rose in Chattanooga. Just had my first fill last Tuesday and am doing great! I have noticed some hair "shedding" the last couple of weeks. I get in my recommended protein. They say that the stress from surgery itself can cause hair to shed, along with substanital weight loss.. I've got a lot of hair, so I'm not too worried about it. Happy to talk with you guys and compare notes any time! Congrats on your weight loss everyone!
  22. Whew! So Glad to see Dale Jr. got a little pad in the points after Sunday's race in Cali! He's in sixth place! Now he's gotta get past Richmond... Congrats to all you Kasey Fans (including me)! Thanks for keeping us in contact with Michelle, Paladin! Tony was quiet again this week! What's the deal? Did you guys see where he flipped the sprint car mid-week?! On to Richmond... Go Dale Jr. & Tony!
  23. Hey guys! I, too am a little disillusioned with LBT with all the crap going on around here! I miss you 3loves! So happy you are here Paladin! Please tell Michelle hello for me and that I hope her recent fill and subsequent restriction is going well! This is my favorite thread on LBT, cause it feels like home ... Lynda, I know it is a difficult time, but it will pass.... Keep checking in, we need you! Well everyone... I finally got into the 250s! I now weight 259 and reached my September goal of 260! This fill thing is a little tricky, but I think its gonna be good! I am just starting back on normal/soft foods, and so far so good! I feel like I did immediately following surgery restriction-wise, which is a good thing! Let the weight-loss resume! Wahooo! Now, I gotta upate that ticker!
  24. More things to ponder ladies..... Here are a few things to think about that you probably have never thought about (and if you have you're strange.)....... > Can you cry under Water? > How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered? > Why do you have to "put your two cents in".. . but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to? > Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity? > Why does a round pizza come in a square box? > What disease did cured ham actually have? > How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage? > Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours? > If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing? > Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV? > Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground? > Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They're going to see you naked anyway. > Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural > Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat? > Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane? > If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can't he fix a hole in a boat? > If Wiley E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he just buy dinner? > If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from? > Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune? > Why did you just try singing the two songs above? > Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?
  25. Hey Funny! I just had my first fill on Tuesday. This is how mine went down... They had me lie on a table, they felt around for my port and had the xray machine positioned so that they could see the port. They gave me a little local anesthesia(this hurt more than the fill needle, but not bad). They insert the fill needle with a little pressure and I heard a pop, letting them know that they were actually in the port. They then leaned the table up to where I was in a standing position (with the fill need/syringe still inserted in my port). Had me drink some barium, we watched it flow through my pounch and into my tummy. They inserted 1.50 cc's and I drank barium again.. they thought it was moving a little slowly, so they took out .25 ccs. More Barium, I drank Water, they watched it flow... they said my pouch and everything looked good! They removed the needle and I was done. Took about 8 minutes, tops! Are your kids old enough to be left in a waiting room? Otherwise, I'm sure they can make arrangements for them... I just wouldn't want them to see a big old needle sticking out of mommy's belly. Most adults that I know were freaked out by me just telling them about it. I joked with my surgeon that next time I am going to snap a photo (of the needle/syringe in my belly) with my phone! Good luck with the fill! I was really intimidated by it, but in the end it was no big deal. The liquid diet afterward sucks, but it's only for a few days!
