You all are great. Sharing can feel risky. Im scheduled for Sept 27. Found out yesterday that they had a OR opening, so they asked if i could br ready. Ready? I was born ready! Sorry, cheezy saying from way back. Anxious and at times terrified. You guys got my back, and I'm feeling a bit more relaxed.

I stalled week 2. Dropped 3 pounds in past 3 days, start of week 3. It'll happen. Just keep on your plan and it will begin.

Every 10 pounds I buy a sack of flour and set it in a stack next to fridge. I'm 2 bags in since surgery (Sept 27) Good motivator when I want to open fridge for a unnecessary bite!

Queen Grandma got a reaction from Frustr8 in What should I have on hand when I get home after surgery?
I joined instacart, a delivery service in my area. Saved the day! I was also alone, I could drive the day I came home, but didn't feel like it. I did take a daily walk to the grocery that delivers for me, but only to get my steps in and buy a beverage. I can order what I want every other day or so. Nice option. Good luck on ur surgery.

I'm 5 days post op. I'm feeling so terrific, even thought about going back work. My kids were angry about that. I don't feel hunger yet, just desire to have food! Years ago a nutritionist said that if you crave something, the craving is satisfied after 2 bites, then you are just eating it. Wish I had listened to that advice years ago, I might not be at this place in life. Good advice I'm going to try to follow now.

Had surgery, sleeve, 2 days ago. I'm amazed how my movement is like normal. They don't tell you about the gas pain though. Extra night in hospital cuz the gas floated to my right shoulder, blood pressure was 195 over 120 cuz of that pain. Normally 130 over 72? Got it down with codeine. Otherwise Tylenol had taken care of any discomfort, just 1 tablet of the narcotic. It's over!

Sharing my dinner with you dear Bari Sisters and Brothers: Tender Red Cabbage, lovingly braised in Sunflower Oil, with a dash of salt, garlic powder and splash of Red Wine Vinegar for a tart flair, paired with my fav Christmas Beans, soaked overnight, boiled, drained, dusted with Onion Powder and then crisped to perfection in Olive oil! That’s actually my daughters plate which I offset with cauliflower in egg Batter and some slow roasted tenderloin steak . But in my new Veganish way(never ever EVER thought, Vegan and me will be used in same sentence), I paired my cabbage and Beans with a creamy dollop of garlic hummus and a sliver of Avocado! I could almost hear the angels singing, it is well with my pouch!

From one queen to another, its okay to have a snack. Make it an event, make it half what it would have been pre-surgery, and enjoy. Get back on the plan afterwards. Don't make it so stressful. We are all going to have temptations. We just need to allow ouselves not to be perfect. I started my pre-surgery liquid diet. Struggling awful. Came online and found out again what it means to have support.

I think I'll be an October Sleever also! I've got 3 phone visits with my nurse left, a second psychologist appointment and my surgeon appointment. I should be done late August. I've been preapproved, so it's really about setting a date at that time. I'm having some struggles thinking about going into the holiday season. Not because of the food restrictions, but more the activities. I also wait ALL year long to cook that blessed turkey dinner. It's just the cooking the dinner. But, I could put that dinner off until xmas and let my daughters/daughters-in-laws do Thanksgiving this year. I can also play it by ear and see what happens.
But, as stated, I believe I'll be an October Sleever. Getting psyched, scared, terrified and I say all that with a big grin on my face. I'm doing this to help control my diabetes.
    good luck on your adventure!

Thank you for your feedback. I think I'll go ahead and get the garden. The ground is prepped and I'm too late for peas and lettuce, but hopefully the tomatoes will come in so good I'll be sick of eating them! Like with anything I'm hearing, listen to your body. It'll tell me when to stop!

Just worked with my Insurance folks as you all suggested. I'll have to meet with a phone counselor 5 times in the next 10 weeks. Plus a psychologist and nutritionist. She said it'll be about a 3-4 month process. So, I'm thinking late August to Late September.

I'm wondering how long the process took- first appointment with doctor to the end. I've got my referral to the surgery center for my consults and stuff. I'm really motivated right now and afraid that as it gets further out, I might not be so anxious. I don't have a surgery date. Hoping end June-August. Wonder if that is to quick to expect.
I'm a grandma of 7@ 53 years old. Would maybe like a barbaric buddy to get some feedback, be able to chat when I start feeling stressed. My kids (no husband) kinda support me. My boyfriend of 20 years likes my big butt. He's concerned he'll be with a different person, but he supports whatever I decide.
I was diagnosed with "the diabeetis" as my kids call it about 3 years ago. I initially lost 60+ pounds. Still had another 40 to go. Said I would NEVER get back over 200 pounds, and here I sit. 219 on the scale this morning. My mom would like to see me just continue to diet. I'm exhausted with dieting and with diabetes management. I just want some help while I still qualify.
