My surgeon suggests no crunchy, crispy, cakey, carby things! As for never- sugar, carbonated beverages. Restrict rice, potatoes, bread.< br>

Please follow your surgeon's and RD's post op progression diet complete with quantities.
1/2 cup at 12 days is way too much food and can damage your tool, or cause complications.
Each doc does it differently. But at 12 days post op, I was on 1-2oz of food by volume. That is maximum of 1/8-1/4 cup by volume MAXIMUM at each meal. Do not exceed your rules hon.
You are early out. And the nerves were cut. So your pouch won't/might not signal satiety right now. I think I was 3 months out before I felt cues from my pouch that I was actually full. Until then, I just followed their volume guidelines explicitly.

Ok. It is devastating. ((hugs)). So grieve for a few hours, then get on top of it. Find out the offices that your insurance covers that are IOQ. Call their office and schedule an appointment this month (do NOT let 30 days lapse from the date of your last RD appointment), so that the clock keeps ticking in you moving the ball toward the goal line.
Explain to the new doc's office that you have had probs with insurance and your present program not being an IOQ and you don't want to start all over! See if they can help slip you in. Then make sure you get your complete medical records from the bariatric surgeon, the RD, the psych, the sleep study, the EGD and take it to the new doc.
I would think they'd want to fast track you in their office cuz you are Ca-CHING! Ready to give em the money without the 3-6 month hassle of earning it up front.

Looking for input and opinions from those who've been there. I'm exactly 5 months post op. I had severe complications from March til July which prevented me from eating much. So, I'm progressing slowly on my diet. I saw the Nut for the first time yesterday. I average between about 600 and 850 calories a day. Mostly 600-700. Which feels adequate and satisfying. Nut says in one breath not to track my calories, and in another breath that my goal for now should be 1000 calories a day!! I really don't think I could eat that much with my restriction, and I'm sure I'd gain weight. Now, I know she's the professional, but I live in this body!! What do you all think? Up my calories, or stay the course with what I'm doing? Thanks!
By the way, for those wondering, I'm 57. 5'3", and have lost just over 60 pounds with 50 more to go.

With Barrett's there IS no other option for you but RNY. If he disagrees, run as far and fast from the di*k as you can! ((hugs)) He sees you as lambchops (with 2 surgeries) in front of him when he looks at you--not a patient.

Hi. My experience is with a totally different drug an antidepressant but yes it is possible to have malabsorption with extended release drugs. I had bypass on March 21. 2019, and was taken off all extended release medications
I do hope what you're taking works out well for you

Hi. Complications like a leak are not common. Both the bypass and sleeve have that as a remote possibility, but it doesn't happen very often. On the other hand, the complications that come with being morbidly obese are much more common!! Don't let your friend's experience cloud your judgment. I had gastric bypass 4.5 months ago and am off all diabetes meds, almost off blood pressure meds, no longer have constant body pain, and am healthier and happier. Have a positive attitude going into this, pick your surgeon well, and it is more likely than not that you won't have major complications! Good luck to you!

I think we are all a lot more self critical then anyone else would be. No one is perfect when naked, not even models. So any reasonable man is not going to expect perfection once you're undressed.
I know it is cliche, but self confidence goes a long way. If you are comfortable, and feel sexy and desirable, you will absolutely project that.

You and I have almost identical stats. I'm 5'3" and weighed 239 on surgery day. I, too, hurt all over. Couldn't walk without pain, and sweating. Knees hurt all the time, etc. It does get much better, and quickly!! I now weigh 172 at 4.5 months post op, and I feel awesome! I have no pain, and this summer heat doesn't bother me. I can go up and down a flight of stairs with no pain. Have faith, soon you will be feeling much better. You hot this. Hang in there

I'm using my own goal, and a healthy weight I weighed for most of my adult life before I ballooned up! lol. My surgeon's group has a more conservative goal of 15-20 pounds more. We'll see what my body and metabolism have to say on the matter! I'm remaining flexible. Only 4.5 months post bypass, so we'll see!!

I agree. I usually drink some time before eating, and I imagine it runs right through my pouch, so I don't worry about it. I definitely do not drink during eating or for 30 minutes after.
