Pre op diet and cheating
You have four days left, you have to keep to your meal plan otherwise your liver won’t be in good enough shape. You can sustain anything for four days! Think of how empowering it feels to win, over food! You are stronger then any craving

To tell or not to tell
I changed what I was eating in April 2018, spread the word that I was seeing a nutritionist (technically I was). I’m a teacher so I left in June and returned in September 50 lbs lighter, but to them that was over the course of 6 months, not super dramatic. Then when people see you everyday, they don’t tend to notice the changes because it’s not so drastic. They get used to seeing you. I talked a lot about working with my trainer and my meal plans and people never asked me. If they suspected WLS, no one mentioned it.

Water in protein
Yep, I do it all the time. My family complains that my drinks taste too “watered down” but I just can’t take the sweetness
-
Ice cream
Tried it over the summer (I’m 14 months out) and it made me SO SICK

So what are you unable to eat now?
If chicken is too dry I will puke it right up. I just have to be careful

A little weirdo am I
No, no, no,no, no...take out that meal plan your surgeons office gave you and follow it! Protein shakes are gross; yep, drink them anyway. You crave “real” food; of course, but if it’s not in your plan, do not put it in your mouth. During my liquid diet phase I used to get so excited when I could have my big chewable multivitamin because I missed chewing. This is a tough phase but you’ll get through it, buckle down and start doing the work

Supporting Cast
People can be supportive without knowing the whole truth. My friends, coworkers, work out buddies, etc have all been so supportive with my diet and exercise, they don’t need to know about my surgery ?

Peanut butter?
I love it, but it seems to stick in the back of my throat so I avoid it

Disneyland/Theme Park Post Op Experiences?
Just took my boys to universal a couple weeks ago, I brought my huge water bottle filled with protein powder and lots of healthy snacks. I’m over a year out, so not the same but just plan ahead and you’ll do great

Anyone else NOT NPO for surgery?
I always thought it had something to do with people vomiting and aspirating during surgery. That’s why they wanted your stomach empty. I don’t know. I was clear liquids until Midnight and nothing afterward

Was told not to lose weight or surgery would get denied.
I’d call your insurance company and ask them what is the specific requirement, mine only submitted my starting weight
-
Clothing Rollercoaster
I would buy a few nice pairs of dress pants, but everything else came from goodwill. Skirts are easy to wear even if they are a little big, leggings are great too

Crazy WLS stories?
“I could never do weight loss surgery, I wouldn’t want to take all those vitamins”....uh, what? That’s what’s holding you back? Vitamins?
-
Liquid Diet Pre-surgery
You’ll be fine, but remember you are doing the pre-op diet to shrink your liver and make your surgery safer. It’s super important
