Prayers that your husband's surgery goes smoothly and for his speedy recovery!

off program and gained back 21 pounds
I haven't experienced this after surgery, but from all the diets I back-slid on: Go back to tracking every bite of food that goes into your mouth. If you've stopped, get back on the 30-30-30 plan. Don't eat within 3 hours of bedtime. No alcohol. Always get your protein in first. Don't despair. Your "tool" is still in place. You can recover from this!

And that's how he wants you to feel. Like you can't do any better. You can! Don't settle for someone who's not happy about the positive steps you're taking with your life!

It's been several days, has the situation resolved?

UGHHHHHH
If we were perfect, we wouldn't be here in the first place. Just dust yourself off and start again. Throwing up is a lesson. You either ate too much or too fast. You're new body is just much more efficient at telling you to pay attention than your old one was. It'll be ok.

Some Advice Please!
I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope your husband's surgery and recovery go well. I'd recommend speaking with your surgeon as soon as possible. I feel like is experience would be invaluable here. Because, really, how other people healed is totally irrelevant. It's not about the average recuperation time, but yours specifically. While there are lots of smooth-sailing success stories, there are also a few nightmares posted on the boards, as well. I wish you the best, but until the surgery, you just won't know. Hugs.

Glad to hear you're doing so well!

Exhaustion
My thyroid was checked before surgery, but I'll make sure they check it again at my 3-month checkup. Thanks!

Exhaustion
Thanks, Sillykitty, but I've been taking B12 for nearly a year already. So, not that. I appreciate your suggestion! Not a coffee drinker, so that's not it either. I'm also much more salty than sweet. I wonder if it can be from plummeting sodium levels? Just kidding. Thanks for responding!

Confessions from a non-com (as in non-compliant)
It is amazing how different all the plans are, and everyone seems to be losing weight regardless!

Yeah, but I'm still quite a way from that. Sometimes I can't eat a full ounce, but at most about 1.25 ounces. Baby steps . . .

Age 60 is the new 40?
How about the gator thinking you're too small to bother with?

Food-based Celebrations
Yes, I totally agree about the "not much point". We don't want to shut ourselves off from our friends' and families' celebrations just because food is a major part. We can still share their joy without stuffing ourselves.

But we all have to take the steps as we're ready, and most of our lives, we won't be on a liquid diet. If the OP wasn't feeling up to the challenge, it's ok to bail. There are plenty of other opportunities to wish the people well, give them a hug, etc. Martyrdom isn't a requirement.

Age 60 is the new 40?
I think most of us did some kind of "Farewell Foodie Tour"

Are you handling the liquids ok? I'm sure your stomach is still very swollen.

Surgery Complete! Need some recipe suggestions!
Glad your surgery went well. Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you like veggies, I thought this cauliflower soup was delicious. I made the "gluten free" version at the bottom to reduce the fat and flour. The recipe calls for leaving the veggies whole, but I blended it up after cooking and loved it. https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cauliflower-soup/print

That does sound really rough, especially the "friends" encouraging you to break your medically necessary pre-op diet! Don't expect a lot of support from them afterwards, either. Maybe they're jealous?

IM STARVING
I like that, thanks!

IM STARVING
I met with my dietitian yesterday and mentioned salads. She doesn't recommend them until 6 months! UGH!
