Reduced food following WLS
Definitely! It's a small step when you're already having a Thai curry to add the rice!

Reduced food following WLS
Sometimes it's not even delicious. Sometimes I open a can of string beans and eat a third of the can. Nobody considers canned string beans delicious! But they do fill up my "void". No, not hunger, but still a mental need to put something with substance into my stomach, if that makes sense. I think the therapist is so freaked out by the fact that I can't eat solid protein, that she's missing the bigger picture. But also, she normally treats anorexics who won't eat anything, or overeaters who won't stop eating, so that she can't really see the problem with how I'm eating. To her, if I'm getting all my required nutrition and taking in a reasonable amount of calories, what's the problem? And, of course, outside the WLS world, there is no "honeymoon" period.

Omgoodness, what a difference! Congrats! Why aren't you smiling? I'd have a grin from ear to ear with those results!

I really have no physical hunger. Whenever I think I feel hungry I take a Tums and it goes away. So, plenty of acid, no real hunger.

5 mo post op, 10 wks pregnant. Help!
First off, Congratulations! Not specifically related to WLS, just pregnancy, but we were told that the baby will pretty much always get what it needs, even if it robs it from you. With my twins, I puked my guts out for 18 weeks straight and they went full term, full-size. At this point, the baby is the size of your fingernail. It's requirements are minimal. Try to find some form of protein you can tolerate - shakes, protein water, shooters, Fairlife chocolate milk, whatever. You may have to eat more slider foods than are normally recommended to get in enough nutrition. You can usually eat more shakes and similar than solid foods and you can get plenty of nutrition there. Good luck and best wishes!

No, this is what the therapist didn't understand. Maybe 4 "meals" are for protein (counting protein water), but the other 2 are all about the party in my mouth, and that's bad! Even if they are "healthy" choices like the curry or cooked veggies. Like you, my capacity is very small, Unless it's totally liquid, I can't usually get more than 12g of protein at a time (hi-pro yogurt). So, it takes a lot of meals to hit my protein target (75g min) and I'm really wasting 1-2 with fruit or veggies or SF fudgesicles.

Help!!!! Weight gain
Weigh all your food. Our portion sizes tend to inch up over time. Log every bite! I know I'm not a long-term WLS vet, but this applies with regain after any weight loss.

Too Much of Too Much
This would work better if "search" searched the entire site. But it only searches the forum you are in at the moment unless you go to the home page first. So, someone can search for "recipes" in the nutrition forum and not find an awesome thread under "post-op discussions". Not really user friendly, imho.

I follow the forums on a PC. My points show on a pink banner at the very top of every page (even above the BP banner). I'm sure they're trying to get me back into the store. I got about 3 cases of protein shots for free about a week ago, just shipping.

Reduced food following WLS
Thanks, Kitty! I just worry that I'm ingraining the wrong habits because I pretty much eat all day. But, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. (I do follow 30-10-30. It never takes me more than 10 minutes to eat because, for the most part, I don't chew!) On the plus side, I'm not brave enough to try many tempting foods to see if they'd be ok. I did talk with my therapist last night (her specialty is eating disorders, not bariatrics) because I'm concerned that some bad behaviors are starting to creep back in. She really didn't get it because the choices I made were "healthy", or at least not bad. Like, for instance, the last 3 days I had veggie Thai green curry for lunch. (One order split over 3 days, no rice). It was probably under 100 cal. per day, but I doubt there was any protein in it at all. (There wasn't enough liquid to stir in protein powder) To the therapist, this was perfectly fine, but I tried explaining how important it was to eat the protein first for meals. Especially those of us who are chronically short at the end of the day and have to knock some down right before bed. Oh, well. I guess she'll be more helpful when my issues are more mainstream.

Help!!! Need advice on telling people they are fat!
That's me as well. I think it had been 5-7 years since I'd had a well-woman check because I was so disgusted. I didn't start going to the dr. again until I had decided I was going to have this surgery and I wouldn't take no for an answer.

Loose jiggly skin -- what do I have to look "forward" to?
Maybe it's a Mom thing, but I kinda thought that's how it would work, too!

Loose jiggly skin -- what do I have to look "forward" to?
I totally agree. I loved being pregnant, felt it was as close to a miracle as I would ever experience. And I loved breastfeeding. Wouldn't have traded that for the world.

No point in stretching it all back out, huh?

Yup, that's me to get to 800-1000, slider foods galore (she types as she finishes her second yogurt of the day )

New to the site
I'd probably pour them in a bowl first. I haven't done it, but others on the site have.

Reduced food following WLS
Omgosh, @Creekimp13, I can't imagine even being able to eat an entire hard-boiled egg in a sitting, never mind the rest of the salad! That's one reason I don't mind my soups too much. Since they're sliders, I'm able to get a little more food in at once. I think my "banana" might be closer in size to an overweight string bean. However, I'm a determined little bugger. I manage to get about 800 calories a day, surprisingly.

Freeze them and eat them like ice cream or a slushie

Preop diet, why protein shakes only?
Just depends on your surgeon. Some people can have low-fat, high protein meals.

Too Much of Too Much
I agree with Matt. It's the nature of this type of forum for people to transition through. I've been spending way too much time here. I'm an accountant and I'm supposed to be doing quarterly reports. 'Nuff said? I have the same situation with professional organizations. I enjoy them for a while, then I drift away. To control my addiction, my rule is that I don't log on to the computer in the evening. But in the morning, I can't wait to see how people are doing. We're all just ships that pass in the night! But, that said, I've enjoyed your posts and wish you the best, even if I don't see you as often!
