  1. Good luck on your surgery, I am sure you will do well. Third time’s the charm for sure!
  2. I was told to not even drink soda after surgery, ever. my NUT said it’s almost like a “gateway” drug for some..leading you to pick bad choices with other high calorie drinks/bad food. Even diet soda.
  3. My surgeon not nutritionist never mentioned how many calories to consume during pre-op diet. They set goals for protein and overall liquid. They also set guidelines such as which protein drinks to have and not to mix any with cow’s milk. So with those parameters one doesn’t consume many calories (as they use to) with the pre-op/post of diet. And the post op diet isn’t 0 calories...just very few.
  4. Ok so I settled for the Fitbit versa. Just can’t see myself using all the features of the Apple Watch and for some reason I didn’t like the big red button on the side lol
  5. Beginning day 9 of my liquid diet...so far 9 lbs down. Was hoping to lose more but eh. Gonna try and drink more water these last 5 days of my pre-op diet.
  6. I too prefer Stevia. It’s the only sweetener I can tolerate but I am pre-op for RNY. So I am not sure if that will change after surgery.
  7. Yep. Day 8 of 14 days.
  8. All of our surgeons could very well perform a thoracic surgery being that most are general surgeons. So this is not uncommon for a surgeon to perform in the thoracic region.
  9. I could be an advocate for the doctor and say she isn’t performing heart surgery on you though. I would ask the doctor when did this incident happen in her career. And see how long she has been performing WLS & ask how many weight loss surgeries she has performed and what her stats are...then go from there. if she can’t answer these questions in a timely fashion or she hesitates at some point, continue finding another surgeon. All surgeries are a risk. I even asked my doc what his patient mortality rate was. You must trust your surgeon. If you leave her office feeling confused and indecisive, find another surgeon
  10. Yes. One more week! Getting nervous now haha. I will update you and please stay in contact
  11. It’s not as bad as the days go on. Just limit yourself to temptations and keep drinking water when you feel that urge. Freezing protein shakes can sometimes be beneficial and you eat it with a spoon to satisfy that eating urge. Right now I can’t even handle broth, of any kind, so I eliminated it and just drink more water and having different flavors of sugar free popsicles work for me. Ita hard but you can do it. I have a physical job as well and you just have to remind yourself to drink, drink, drink.
  12. I purchased the ProCare Heath multi-vitamin that my nutritionist had on a list for me to choose from. They’re chewable being I am not allowed to swallow pills until a later time these were the cheapest I came across so I stocked up
  13. I use premier protein & syntha 6 because it tastes fine with water. I don’t like muscle milk personally. I also enjoy the premier protein clear & syntrax nectar protein. They have juice based & shake style protein. Get their sample pack to see what you like
  14. I scheduled a gyn. Appointment shortly after my surgery for this reason. But I do not want an IUD. I don’t like the idea of having that in my uterus and I have heard too many horror stories from friends/families. I hope to continue with the good ole pill form of bc.
  15. Mine consisted of a NUT coming in to talk to me about the pre-op diet & things I would need for post op. Nurse came in to talk to me about the meds I had (they already ordered it and I picked them up). nurse coordinator came in and told me about what would happen day of therapy and recovery, what I needed to bring to hospital etc. and then the surgeon came in to reiterate the procedure. simpl stuff. The pre-op diet is hard. There will be temptation all day, everyday. You just have to know that there is an end to this and it’s to better yourself. When I had my VSG, broth was my life. Now that I am getting my RNY, I can’t stand broth and popsicles are my life lol
  16. I took off 6 weeks for my vsg but could have definitely went back at 4 weeks and I have a physically demanding job. You should be ok
  17. I love Clusi le on YouTube! She is fabulous
  18. Day 6 of my liquid diet now and i popped regularly until today when I had a major bowel movement. The kind that makes you feel you just lost 5 pounds. If you meet your protein quota, you should have regular bowel movements
  19. Watch “The science of fasting” on amazon prime...so good. i also like skin right on tlc
  20. Everything will go smoothly I am sure! Have a safe drive and try and get some rest lol. Best of luck & congrats!
  21. I do not feel like I will need plastics but I may want it lol. But I have not had kids yet, so I will wait until after I have kids
  22. At my first we talked about what I ate and how I ate and my NUT gave me recommendations on how to change my bad eating habits & make better choices. i will admit though, my NUT never set a calorie goal for me and never said I had to lose a certain amount of weight although I should always be losing some if I make better choices. one thing that helped was using a food journal of some sort; whether it be hand written or an app like MyFitnessPal. It’s useful to start now even with the regular food you eat so you don’t have to sit and remember what you ate..you both can go through it & the NUT can then advise you where to make adjustments. I work with many nutritionists/dietitians and i have seen many in during my weight loss and they are huge advocates for bariatric surgery. So most are on your side. Good luck & keep us updated. Starting this process is very exciting
  23. I am on my 5th day and It is just hitting me. Not hungry, but I just need to chew so I have succumbed to eating ice and my popsicles lol 9 more days to go
