Oh wow! Haha. Yea I am expecting the mesh panties... but I came prepared for after the surgery so I can feel like myself. At least my doc said he takes the catheter out right away so I won’t have increased discomfort lol

My surgery is tomorrow as well...RNY. I am scared and nervous but also excited lol. I am just hoping for no complications. sucks but I also started my period but that’s whatever...the pain meds will help with my cramps as well lol

I too have PCOS; had the sleeve in 2011 and now getting a revision to RNY. i plan on getting pregnant once I am able to maintain my weight loss for a while but I have never tried to get pregnant before so unsure about my fertility

I mean, don’t we all like to eat and drink though? lol the deciding factor should ultimately be where you want to see yourself and your health Down the road. You just mentioning your daughter alone should also be a contributing factor; will your weight affect her and the things you want for the both of you in life? I am not a parent but this is something I would think about. I am not sure why your surgery would affect anyone but your immediate family though. So you won’t be partaking in drinking, going back for seconds or tasting every dessert that’s brought to a family function but hopefully your family will understand & be supportive. Eating for a lot of people is this huge social function so yes that’ll be hard, but you will learn to adapt if you follow the guidelines set by your doctor. It isn’t an easy decision but for some of us, it was & sometimes the only decision. Much luck to you and your decision

It is indeed hard!! And I too envy people whom get to eat one protein rich meal, yogurt etc. but it does get easier as time goes on because surgery is right around the corner. hang in there!

Just say you would rather not discuss it any longer. Why on earth would you get in trouble for not talking about your personal business?! if your boss makes a big deal about it, file a complaint with HR

Lol a lot of surgeries are elective. A knee replacement is elective but most often necessary...so your boss should shut his mouth. your boss should not be telling you nor your co-workers in an a group meeting about you picking a surgery date time. Work will continue with or without you.

FMLA paperwork just holds your job while you are away from work. You will still continue to use your PTO, but if anything were to happen (complications & you needed to be out longer), the FMLA will hold your job for up to 12 weeks I believe. your doctor should be lenient in the days that you will be away from work in the FMLA paperwork so that it protects him/her & you. So for example, my doctor put me out at 6 weeks when I am only taking 3. Your job should give you a return to work form that your doctor/office can fill out/sign on your post-op appointments saying it’s medically ok for you to return to work & any restrictions you may have ( light duty, more breaks etc). With the date of return listed FMLA’s can also be adjusted (from what I remember) if your condition changes, meaning if you get complications fr surgery & you’re dealing with another issue and need to be out longer, but only the date(s) will change on the FMLA paperwork, not the 12 week period in which they will hold your job. I believe you’re only allowed one use of FMLA a year but the time can be divided; for instance, if you take June-July off and then November of the same year. I would make sure you run everything by your HR Director and get your companies policies in your hand and keep a copy for yourself.

I am 2 days before surgery but I have mixed emotions. I am nervous because I worry about complications because I am a VSG to RNY revision. But I am excited because I am one step closer to starting this new journey

Oh lol. I use Kirkland for calcium, natures made for multi, sun valley for B12 & I take prescription vitamin d, cvs brand iron and target up and up for biotin

For hair? I only co-wash with shea moisture high porosity. I only use natural coconut oil, Aragon oil and Castor oil

I went to Costco yesterday for toiletry items...and it’s the absolute worst for WLS patients I feel like pre-op or directly post-op lol. I may feel this way because I am on liquid diet too but i can only think of their protein products and vitamin supplements for directly pre-op/post-op

Everyone is different. I lost my hair and it never grew back when I had my VSG. But that could be because I am still so deficient per lab work with iron, vitamin D & more; despite taking recommendations for supplements

I had this after I had previous abdominal surgeries and it was due to the glue they used to seal my incisions. I now ask that they staple me instead of using glue

It isn’t uncommon for your menstrual cycle to change when your diet changes also.

So, so true. i work in physical rehabilitation and I have many patients that are obese and I see all the complication that arise from it. Thankfully I have not experienced any pain or major issues associated with my weight but nipping it in the bus feels good. I don’t want to be a burden on anyone for my weight alone. Now when I tell people about my WLS, I feel good about it, not ashamed.

I am worried about this too being that I am having a revision from sleeve to bypass too. I think I am more worried if I will feel restriction. I don’t have much restriction with my sleeve. I am totally desicates though so I believe in myself I guess lol

I have never looked at it as us being sick. This is interesting and I get it.

I debated this forever! I decided to tell people. My immediate family was easy, they always support me. Not was friends/coworkers/distant family I was concerned about. I just told a few coworkers before my surgery because they’d see me doing the pre-op and would be suspicious. They took it well and were very supportive. After surgery, I will only tell people if they inquire about my weight loss/eating habits. So I am not one of those to shout it to the world but I came to my comfort level in not hiding it. To each their own though cause I hid my VSG surgery (I am VSG to RNY) and it was super hard.
