212 days post op and I’m finally able to drink Water again today without any flavoring! Before bypass i loved drinking water but after it all tasted like toilet water....not that I know but that’s what I imagined. Hopefully it continues. Heck of a journey so far. 98 pounds down post op today. I’ll be at that magical 100 very soon!

it comes and goes for me. I will get all psyched up for a food, have two bites and feel sick to my stomach. Eating something salty seems to make it go away, so two triscuits is my quick reset.

Made it. Pain is no joke and meds causing nausea almost threw up three times but got the nausea under control. Egd and swallow test tomorrow - can’t wait - my reward is ice chips. Walked once and boy it hurt but wow I felt tons better after.

    Thanks for the wishes.

I had bad gerd and some cellular changes pre op which was fixed by medicine. Subsequently I had gastric bypass and I have had zero issues with gerd since.

I use benefiber with every Protein Shake I mix up in the morning and switch up with some mirrolax if things need a little extra kick. I bought some of the glycerin because it got bad in the beginning but never used them, and I could have named some of my bm's... All that Protein will block you up like a cornered racoon.

The first 30-60 days are very emotional for many people. From the change in your body burning energy from fat instead of food, to the totality of the surgery, emotions run rampant in many folks. Hydrate then Protein should be your time right now, food will come later so don’t worry. I was on liquids two weeks post op but did have a spoonful of mashed taters the day after thanksgiving and it was the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted! Way better then the chicken broth I enjoyed for thanksgiving... you’ll get through it - post for support but stay hydrated. If you can’t go to the ER - no joke.

I felt the same way after surgery and from my research it is a very common feeling post op. Kind of the “can’t turn back its for life and trying to reverse a life time of eating habits” emotion is a very common post here. I can tell you that for the VAST majority things work fine and in a couple short months you will feel totally different about the surgery. I was totally worried about the getting older thing as well and not sure how old you are, but IMO there are 20+ years of older people who will get there before me and figure it out.

GettinSkinnywithit got a reaction from ProudGrammy in No restriction
I feel very much the same way now. I did have issues with restrictions in the beginning and had the foamies a couple of times, once at work even. Now I feel like I can eat anything but I do notice a pain in my left side sometimes when i'm getting full - I know darn well I could eat through that pain, and have, but the fear of failing after having major surgery gives me enough will power to put the fork down...finally. Last month I did eat two slices of dijorno pep pizza and had zero issue, after I ate my P3 Protein pack for dinner. The next morning that cold pizza looked good and after three bites it hit me and took 20 minutes for the pain to go away. My neighbor is 8 years out on his RNY and he has to remember to eat - not me, I'm still thinking about food all the time.
I think everyone has a different signal, recently I've started hiccuping when full, then I found a thread here about people doing the same thing so maybe you need to listen more for your body telling you to stop? I'm really hoping that the hunger goes away because if it doesn't the only tool i'm left with is malnutrition.

GettinSkinnywithit got a reaction from thunderstorm in Any regrets with RNY?
I'm 125 days post-op today and hit 60 pounds lost since surgery, 70 since I started. When I was researching, I noticed a trend of quite a few people regretting either surgery the first 1-2 months and I went through he same thing. I think it is a combination of hormone imbalance from losing the weight and the totality of surgery finally sinking in.
I went with the bypass because that is the only surgery my insurance would cover. Some days I start to feel a little regret and miss some of my past life, but I just keep reminding myself of the feelings and emotions I had to start this journey and move on. Think of surgery as a reset on life and your health. You will re-learn how and what to eat and pay for it if you make a mistake - this negative reinforcement can be a strong motivator!
My neighbor had gastric bypass 8-9 years ago and went from 340 to 160 and he is now 60 years old, Saturday night went out with some friends and ate more food in one meal then I currently eat in 5 days, so it's not like life is changed forever, just the immediate short term. With either surgery it IS very possible to eat your way back out of it, but why would you want to go through all this and not be successful? If so, then there are other issues at hand.

I took it after surgery. Some kind of way still ended up with sludge. The pain you mention, sounds a lot like the pain that I was having, when I found out about my ulcer. It's best to make an appointment with either your surgeon that performed your RNY or to see a gastroenterologist as soon as possible. Don't ignore the pains

Soreness is generally different for everyone. Are the areas around the incisions red and tender? If so then you should call your doctors office to be checked for an infection, although rare, can happen. After about a 5-7 days mine were no longer sore and then a few days later started to itch as they scabbed over and started to heal. Also, the soreness could greatly depend on how big the incisions are in your skin - the larger the cut, the longer it will take to heal.
