  1. Well shall I start? 1. A RnY on September 5th 2018 Ohio State University Hospital Werner Medical Center. Columbus. Ohio 43210 2. Stricture of Pouch Stoma and 5 gastric/ jejunal ulcers. 3 Had EDJ 10/12/2018 to confirm dx, Additional EDJ scheduled for 10/26/2018. Now had Carafate 4 x daily added to medications. After that not certain of options as yet. 3. Not sure- maybe reassurance that although these things can happen your surgeon is not without means to treat it. Strange to say 2 Bari-pals both have this problem. Neither of us did anything to induce it, just an unlucky dice throw. 4 my story is stated on the other surgery complication thread but I will say I DO NOT REGRET MY SURGERY,I do not blame my surgeon, I knew going in I might not be an easy patient, but he granted me a surgery I had been working towards for over 3 years and I am eternally grateful,i believe my problems can and will be solved soon!???
  2. And come join me over here. Even with my sorrows it's where you and I want to be!
  3. And weird things set you off, you can cry at the drop of a hat or because someone couldn't afford a hat. I can admit to being a Medical Geek, thought I might be having Pseudobulbar Affect, then I said" Relax , you're merely hormonal", had a lot of fat, a lot of things released. ?Oh well, as I bounce, off the wall there will be,others bouncing with me. LOL and Boing Boing.
  4. @IrishGal21 started one a month ago or you could hang also with the November Bypassers ,at October 30 you are kind of" on the cusp" of them, I'm sure they both would be tickled to have you. it is nice to have someone to share things with!
  5. And then over in Bypass-ville you have MEn 6 weeks tomorrow, on Stage 2A and staying there until October 26th when my surgeon's partner Dr Noria attempts again to stretch out my stoma stricture so I can move on with my diet.???
  6. Yes because inside you are still MattZ, the same dude trying to make it through life successfully. People are and certainly will be so shallow and superficial. And I guess raging against it gives ME the headache instead of THEM!
  7. An old saying If you stand silent instead speaking out against injustice; you risk falling for anything. Even a low-drama mama who have to speak out, I second Green Tealael's rebuttal.
  8. And here it is Jenn, for you and the rest to post in. My honor to have started it!
  9. I was asked by another poster to start this thread. You see, although I had studied, I prepared, I thought understood as well as any other layperson what surgery and recovery would entail. And I had every intention of having a wonderful surgery, a seamless recovery, and a perfect future. Well it is not necessarily so. Take me , a poster child for a lovely surgery. And it was, 6 tiny incisions criss-crossed with surgical tape, no nausea, no gas built up to expell. And although I was kept room-bound because of my age, I could walk, move around my room with no light-headness, oh Life was Wonderful. And I went home, still thinking everything is going to be fine. And then I had my follow-up appointment, surgeon saw no reason why I could not progress my diet on, but my new pouch did not agree, and she still does not agree . Purees came up and still come up. Six weeks tomorrow and I am on Stage 2A diet. I call it thus because some things on a regular stage 2 she will not tolerate. And Precious Pouch, something that dictates my life so completely needs a name, don't you agree? Well it was confirmed last Friday has a stomal stricture, no able to be dialated in one attempt, so a repeat EGJ,because the duodenum cannot be visualized I'd booked for October 26th, a week from Friday. I am losing weight like GangBusters,25 pounds since surgery, 40 since the end of July. But when do the Good Times roll? So how has your recovery differed from what YOU PLANNED?
  10. Oh it is exciting, beyond wonderful and I wish you only the best of everything. Are you going to be a sleeve or a Bypass or a Lap-Band? I am have difficulties but mine are bypass-related and only semi-common, odd thing is my friend Ellie123 in Texas and me , here in Central Ohio have the same problem, I am hoping her dilation worked yesterday and then mine works a week from Friday and we will both be Brand New Women and can face the future!?❤?
  11. And Jenn I will be there posting for sure, 6 weeks Tommie since my RNY, still on Stage 2A, have a repeat EGJ on October 26th. Surgeons partner, the one rescoping me said, don't work about your counts, don't add any new foods or textures, keep up with your multivitamins, calcium, B12, omeprazole twice a day, Zofran 3 times daily, Carafate every 6 hours and we will get through this all. I hope this time things hasn't settled down and my stricture can be dialated. The Good News in this all? I never had a 3 week stall, I have list over25 pounds since surgery and a total of 40 since the end of July. Hurray for ME but what emotional cost! I am watching my Surgery Day twins ready or have started back to soft regular foods. And as a result of either repeatedly vomiting or the endoscope tube I am virtually mute, Not that there wasn't a group that have for years hoped I would be quiet. Warning- my middle finger still works, I'm not going down⬇without a fight.
  12. As I understand it, 2 of the 5 were just before the stricture, she got me partially dialated, could see the other 3, but had to withdraw before a full dilitation, and risk making a bleed. One of the few times I wish I could have been awake and watched it on a monitor. Did I ever tell you I watched my colonoscopy in September 2012, absolutely, positively fascinating. Liquid Carafate? Hmmn have to check into THAT. Had black BM before with PeptoBismol. My bowels have yet to work spontaneously, have to j9g the #2 train with MoM , Miramax keeps it soft but it does not want to leave plus my diet just does notseem to have much bulk. And my Repeat EGJ is next Friday the 26th at 3:10pm. And that means I spend 15 hours NPO, this better work! Maybe she'll have to do this every 2 weeks? Don't seem like I will be on Camp Happy for a while.?
  13. Now see, Ed NW it all worked out. If they had stayed in Joplin, your mama would have to be shown everything because Missouri is the Show-Me state. And since she's was a Texas Chick at birth, they could move on and now Arizona produced YOU, thank you Arixona!
  14. Well, my surgeon put me on Carafaten I put the big white horse pill in my my shotglass, boiling water on it to dissolve,it, sltir up the slurry with a popsicle stick & when it cools chug it down the old throat. Have do it every 6 hours round the clock.
  15. Hey I think you are doing real good with everything so far. My local Lowe's is a great to find b things and I am sure yours also with you there.Stay Strong we will make it through until the end.
  16. Well the place I am losing most? Seems that it is my forearms, there are skinny enough I think they look like Old Lady Arms.
  17. We have so Many Texans on here you couldn't burp without one commenting. A while back there was a thread asking who was from the Metroplex, which is Fort Worth, Dallas and Houstonm Amazing how many Bari-Pals responded.???
  18. Things are that way on instructions. because by trial and error, these work best with no pain, trauma, or drama in your life. Treat your new tummy gently, don't rush things. You have the rest,of your life, this just is small bump on your journey. No matter how you study, the real life facts are not exactly what you expect. But stay srong, you can handle anything that will happen.
  19. And I hope it goes just that way for you! My progression has not gone well, still on Stage 2A, I call it that because there are "2" items my stomach will not accept. But my weight loss is great, another 3/4 of a pound since Friday, never stalled but I'm sure the day will come for that too. It has been rocky, I tell myself not everyone gets smooth Aruban white sands, the coast of Maine is equally lovely. And strange as the journey now seems at times. it is my own Frustr8 trek, and I will have sucess eventualitY repeat EGJ will be October 26 at 3:10pm Eastern . Dr Noria again, endoscopies. really are her" bang zone". And you always do what you excell at!
  20. And I now have my Repeat EGJ Scoping scheduled, October 26 at 3:10 pm. Had a choice of that one or 7:20 am, would have meant leaving my town at 5:30 or 6am to miss traffic bottlenecks in Columbus. Take my chances later in the day! Bad news : being NPO FROM MIDNIGHT ON!
  21. Ought ooh I can't remember my last ?I think it's solace or MoM time, like one of the other posters my colon has amnesia, it has forgotten how to work!?
  22. so what kind are you trying? My favorite is Muscle Milk ?. I also like part of the Premier Protein flavors, wondered why I couldn't find any at my Wal-Mart, then I read they are embroiled in a lawsuit. Dont know if they, arent shipping or Wal-Mart,isn't ordering. Do NOT buy their, house brand Equate it is VILE beyond all understanding! I would drink Slim-Fast first and I Do Not,Like it, not even before starting Bariatrics.
  23. And I think the Tropical ones are the best, just bought another box. They are my go-to snack/dessert now that pies, cakes and cookies no longer live at my house?
  24. oh it will, it will! I am basically optimistic in all things, I guess if you live long enough things do balance out. I never did think I would accomplish any land-speed records at healing. But it does seem moving slow but maybe right for me. We shall see how everything works out, won't we????
  25. Yeah I hear a lot about the unholy 3, gastrin, leptin and ghrelin, I guess all of them have to be in balance or you get ulcers, strictures and misery. And the outsiders think Bariatrics is an Easy Way out? Ha Hah, YOU just try living it.?
