Goody someone else from Beautiful Ireland, we have had several recently. We Americans are a mixed bag of nationalities. Malones back on Mama's side, Murphey on Daddy's , got pinched on St Paddys Day the few times I wasn't wearing Green, and my 2 sons names Kevin and Bryan. In fact my Kevin, May his rest be peaceful, as a baby I sang Kevin Barry to him. Poor Bryan, he got The Rising of the Moon, maybe he got cheated? Anyway I was Bypassed on September 5th, recovery hasn't been textbook but I DO NOT regret my surgery, grateful to everyone concerned, wish I hadn't waited until 72, but God arranges, maybe still for the best! ?

The surgery,itself, was wonderful, my hospital is wonderful.,The surgeon,i feel is wnderful, his name,is Bradley J Needleman, extremely important, a full professor in the COLLEGE OF Medicine at Ohio State University and he is the Cheif 9f Bariatric Medicine and Metabolic Weight Loss at that hospital. I was in one extra day as a concession to my age, I am 72, yeah old as Dirt. Very minimal pain, had 7 incisions, one at base of my breastbone, kinda between my boobs, three incisions,on right upper side, two on left middle side and one at,the top uppper part of my navel, all healed down to fine red lines, ones on left and navel you are starting to have to squint, even 2 of 3 on right side are doing Well as,a bypass one,one on right side was the " money" one, where the Big guns, the stapeler went in, it's the deepest so it was a little more tender, slowest to heal but No Big Thing! I did no5 have the fabelled has to walk off and expell. I never walked in the hall, basically on what I call,"room arrest" but hey IT WORKED FOR ME! Hey,im getting a call back from my Bariatric Facility, I hope it's okay if I finish my story in a few. Back soon, there is MORE to relate.

Thank you ChrisB, facing my third EDJ November 9th for same reasons, almost as long for me, I think 8 weeks today. This reducing mama on infant style diet, nutritionist says I haven't hurt myself yet, yeah but emotionally puffy. Nuked a sweet,potato last might, took out the pulp and stirred into sk8m milk, added scoop of Genepro, yeah not highest quality but you do what you can. Made it like a cream soup. Ate my iddy bitty 1/4 cup , sat in chair fight my pouch until she stopped trying to puke it up. Then in a couple hours I felt like I could lie down, maybe sleep. This is NOT the journey I booked for!

Hi there CeeCee2018, there are many Bypassers on Bariatric Pal, although records show RnY and the other bypasses are most prevalent, we seem to run to a majority of VSG and ESG pisters, that said if we are a minority, we are a loud & vocal band of Weight losers Ask any questions you feel you need to know. Whaaaat? Today is Halloween , the Day my soon-to-be -ex landlord wanted me out of here or well on the way. New place, I filed an application, I hope they look favorably on it. Threw away papers, broken furniture I was going to repair, losing shed in process. Could have moved on this sooner,but you only get paid once a month on Social Security. Second Dumpster filling fast, have Good Friend with truck and several strong friends, don't drive so they will be doing that. Would love to send my,outgrown clothing to Goodwill, serviceable,but not boutique level. Haven't worked office for years, only,things like this were "church dresses", probably,not worn since last family funeral. Haven't burdened you with all this, my problems guess give,my " Big Girl" panties a tug up and see what I can accomplish at this point. Sam the foreman of the workers expected 9 AM, don't know if there will helpersvwith him or they will be later? Woke up and on the,verge of puking, but all that is there is the Zofran I just took. Reminded me of a story, many things do bring stories to mind. My aunt's husband,( don't call him uncle-for a multitude of reasons() practiced and practiced until he could duplicate my aunt's signature. Then went to bank, got loan application, told them my couldn't come,in herself,due to work, filled out for a large amount, back didn't quibble or rarify it, she knew nothing until the,note fell due, in meantime he had died, she was forced to work another 24 months to pay it off. The debt didn't die with,him because he had signed her namen oh it was so good that bank thought she had signed it. Just,another example,of his rotten- ess, also a,pervert, pedophile, and downright thief , and this time he hot away with it. My aunt deserved so much better than him.

Welcome from a September 5th ENTer who's not having happy times. Told my Bariatric people 2 weeks in, I think I am developing a stricture, Pooh pooh, they said, You're just swollen, relax things are still okay. Guess who was right? Yep your faithful poster, confirmed October 12, I have a 9mm stricture which doesn't,let purees and solids through. Liquids drain slowly through the pinhole into my small intestine. Not too bad on liquids as long as I stay on the 2-4oz every minutes between vitamins,magnesium, calcium, omeprazole, Carafate, Wellbutrin Ditropan(only once a day). And somewhere I work in at lest 2 protein shakes, broths, cream soups, broths, and strained soups with protein powder at most occasions. 8 weeks and I feel like I'm on a infants diet. The best news, I have lost 50+ pounds since July 31st but at what cost to my long-term health!?

I'm in Central Ohio so much south of your daughter, maybe 75-80miles, last time I pulled up Akron , milesvwere approx. 80. My small city is Mount Vernon, pop 20,000, known for the birthplace of Daniel Decatur Emmett, the guy who wrote Dixie and was a minstrel/ vaudeville performer back in the day, Dr. Semple,, a dentist who invented chewing gum as an exercise for his dental patients and was dumb enough to sell out to Wrigley, and the late Actor Paul Lynde, among,other roles he was Uncle Arthur back on Bewitched, and Me. I have lived my whole life in Central Ohio, within a 50-60 mile radius of here. Daddy's family were from one county south, and Mama's from this and the county just to the Northwest. Kent State is an excellent university, have a cousin that received his Masters from there. Case Western Reserve has a great medical school and and I think there is one billed as Medical College of Northeastern Ohio. I had my RNY at Ohio State university in Columbus, which is 48 miles Southwest of here, no Bariatrics in Mount Vernon as yet, May be 2019 or 2020. Every time I frequent my local ER which I do no more than necessary, they do not quite know what to do with me, like a purple spotted giraffe, I am fascinating. The staff has seen a few lapbands, fewer yet sleeves, but I think I am the only bypass they ever have been close to. And I am getting tired of doing tutorials.

The way I read them- " like" , Good answer- worth a trophy" Wow you made a triumph" this is so funny,it makes me laugh" A hug to sustain you on your journey" Oh my, this,is confusing" and lastly" Oh this is just the way life is, can't fight it, just try,it power through" at,least that's how, I READ THEM!

Sometimes the " like" is for " I see nothing here to disagree with" and that's just the way the mop flops.

Well the taste, Hmmn you need more fluid, yeah I know, easier said than done, remnant of what you ate,last evening but be optimistic, might be fat starting to melt off. Rinse your mouth with Biotene, see if it helps. I'm 8 weeks out and my act isn't totally right yet. Expecting a call from my Bariatric Hospital's Nutrition Department, still not a perfect recovery for me. Trying to remain optimistic in the midst of life chaos.

And may you be healthier than a lab ? rat, may all your testing be smooth and sleek, and you'll keep moving towards surgery! Now after 10 vials, they will announce you are slightly anemic, could it be from excessive blood drawn off? Hmmn just could be!???

Well by now you are in surgery if you're in the Eastern or Central time zones, if in M9untain or Pacific zones it's nearly here! Yes I do wish you well & this is a REBIRTHDAY. After today you are forever changed, well it is what you have worked towards, lost weight and now you have to start living it. In many wars this is still a hard lesson, learning is easier than living it. It will be 8 weeks tomorrow for me and things are still not perfect enough to go running towards the goal. In theory I am far along to be under care of Nurse-Practioners and Nutrition/Dietician, had a call into Bariatric department, had a long- standing appt. with orthopaedic , turns,out. thatt is one body area I'm not ready for surgery upon. When I got home , I had missed my dietician's call by 5 minutes, and they had closed that department for the day. So maybe I'll hear this AM, hope so, don't even like getting up. Oh I know I must. Took a dose of M of Magnesia early last evening, had lower abdom. pain all yesterday, wondered if that was it but no results yet, usually wake up and have to go. Miralax keeps it soft but still on liquids,not much gets moved along. But I am basically a hopeful person, keeps me from crying my eyes out? over everything.But I wish you a Good Surgery, and smooth days ahead. And my,problems, I can only hope THEY smooth out SOON.

Would ratherROFLMAO than face many more of them, Alas I am cursed with them and Zofran, until my stoma enlarges, I can move on to Level 3,and then 4! original plan was soft normal foods by Thanksgiving, don't see,it happening, I have at least,one,more stoma stretching with Dr Noria, Dr Needleman's partner who just?doing endoscopy, it's her "bang zone" I must bewilder het, two,sessions and she has only,been able to stretch,Precious Pouche's maladjusted stoma 1 mm.! If she would like some advice, which,i doubt she wouldn could we,punta stent or something,in there to keep it open. Right now Precious Pouch,is,just a storage tank. You,put enough,liquid in and it slowly,drains into the Small intestine. No strtching, no movements, no nerve impulses? Not regretting the SURGERY, not angry at Dr Needleman or Dr Noria either, I just feel flawed, like I didn't bring anything but faulty body parts to this equation. Can't hardly find Premier Protein, all Wally World,had in when I checked, vanilla and chocolate, I'm sorry but I think vanilla is over-rated, who wants something thick white and tasteless? So switched to Muscle Milk, lost any joy I had towards it, so got,ME some Atkins Cafe Caramel. Wonder how it will be? Got to be better than Equate, WalMarts house brand---that stuff is vile, tastes of over processed. evaporated milk and,ieaves an unpleasant aftertaste , Please believe other posters when they say "don't start shakes early" I am over 7 weeks, Wednesday will be 8 weeks, still on them and so so like to blow a factory or 2 up!-?

Gee mine is so minor compared to yours. You see I DO NOT REMEMBER the Recovery Room, first surgery I had like that, and I have been "put out" maybe 10,times. Must have had me snowed under good, maybe in an avalanche? I felt so GOOD when I woke in my room I pulled up my gown to boob level to make sure I had actually had surgery, no incision pain, if it hadn't been for the six with steri-strips criss-crossed and the one in my navel that was dried and bloody, then I said to my son "Yeah They did after all do SURGERY" That's me, just a bundle of sparkling,wit, well Dr Needleman? did get me up at 3 am to make his 1st case of the morning deadline. I didn't feel like putting on tap shoes and dancing? around the unit quite yet. Little did I know I wouldn't get,out of my room until I was released. But every surgeon thinks differently, apparently he felt that my room wasbsafer than me traipsing all around. Hey No Big Thing in the Scheme of Things , is it_??
