  1. I just cut my pills. I could swallow small pills. I couldn’t handle the taste of crushed pills.
  2. Saying prayers for you. I'm glad your husband's surgery went well. I have put off my surgery 4 times due to my husband's health. In the mean time, my health declined. Please take care of yourself, especially if you have family support. This way you can both get healthy together.
  3. On the purée stage I can have chicken and fish. I either have to purée it or chew it to the purée stage. I’m chewing it. It takes forever but I think I wouldn’t like the mushy texture of purée.
  4. I woke up and only my sternum hurt. The gas settled there. They gave me pain meds and I slept on & off while waiting for my room. Once in my room, I used the restroom and then started walking. I went on about 5 walks and was released by noon the next day.
  5. The shots are to prevent blood clots. I had to do them too 10 days seems to take forever. It’s better when those are over.
  6. I was told to concentrate on fluids. I lived on water and chicken broth and sugar free popsicles for the first week. I didn’t start vitamins until two weeks out. Sleep was in 3 hour blocks. Awake at night. Finally started sleeping well on week 3. We’re all different. I also didn’t have weight loss until 2 &1/2 weeks. One day at a time. Your energy will come back.
  7. I’ve had a slice of turkey with a smear of guacamole. It was almost decadent. I chewed it to purée stage before swallowing. I can only introduce one new food each day. I was sleeved 4/5.
  8. I was the same way. Nothing the first week. At week 2 I was down 14.
  9. Sugar free popsicles helped meet my fluid intake.
  10. Do your shakes have enough protein? I was told 27 g per shake. If 3 isn’t doing it add another one or chicken broth. It’s really important to stay on this as it is shrinking your liver. This will help the surgeon and you have an easier surgery.
  11. You can do this. Best of luck to you in your journey.
  12. Zinc is also good for hair loss.
  13. I started scrambled eggs yesterday. They were so damn good and satisfying.
  14. Are you doing tuna packed in oil? Tuna packed in water is lower in fat.
  15. I have been buying jeans at Costco. They’re under $15 , so I can buy a size when I need them. They ship quickly too.
  16. Great job. You’re a new man.
  17. I think they are rare. I did not have any.
  18. You may need extra protein and water if you’re going to be walking around a lot. I went to Disneyland while on pre-op. I walked over 18,000 steps and was getting dizzy. I had to have more food since I only had 3 protein shakes I did a green salad with chicken with no dressing. I told my nutritionist afterwards and she said not to worry just go back on liquids again. Good luck.
  19. Ask your surgeon. Mine had me drink citrate of magnesium. It helped me go and I’ve had no issues since.
  20. I had the same issue. My doctor said most important get your water. I switched over to unjury shakes with almond milk. After a week, I’m finally getting in 1 shake a day. We all heal differently.
  21. Just make sure you stay on track the rest of the days. You want your liver to shrink as much as possible.
  22. My surgery was a week ago. I finally was able to swallow better and I got a nasty head cold. It’s really slowing my progress. I’m still getting my fluids in but not walking much. Just frustrated.
  23. I like premier but found after surgery I can’t swallow it. I switched to unjury. I’ve tried vanilla and chocolate so far and they’re both good. I mixed them with almond milk.
  24. I am one week out. I have pain kind of like a spasm if I take to big of a drink or drink too fast. I am trying to take small sips and the pain is happening less often. I also have to make sure nothing is too thick. I’m using almond milk in my shakes. It seems to help. I hope you feel better.
  25. Thanks everyone. I was starting to think something was wrong. Slow and steady.
