  1. After it is clean and dry, I use Aquaphor. You can buy it at CVS, Target, lots of places. It feels like vaseline, but it protects your skin from moisture and stays better than powder. My doctor says, it's like you get diaper rash. Diaper cream works, but it's white and messy. This is clear but protective.
  2. Make sure you're eating enough protein.
  3. I use Unjury plain protein in everything. I bought the starter pack that comes with a shaker bottle and a thermometer.
  4. They stretch them out to see if you can commit and stick with it. You can do this.
  5. I went and spoke with a psychologist. It was worth every penny. Sometimes you can find free counselors too. Just talking helped me know whether I was truly ready or not. Good luck to you on your journey.
  6. Being nervous is completely normal. Just remind yourself why you are doing this. We are all here to support you. Good luck tomorrow, all will be well.
  7. I was doing the same thing. I found that tiny bites, like you're feeding a baby, don't get stuck. I also found softer foods are easier. No matter how much I chew a piece of turkey, cottage cheese or eggs are easier on my stomach. If something is getting stuck, I go back to softer foods and then reintroduce the food a few days later. I repeat in my head, "Slow and steady wins the race."
  8. I'm doing the same. My jeans are baggy, but most of my weight loss seems to be form my legs and upper body. I'm happy I'm losing weight, but I'll just need to be more patient fro smaller sized pants.
  9. Thanks for inspiring us. I can't wait. You look awesome!
  10. I slept in my recliner for 2 nights and then moved to the couch for one night since it kept me from rolling over. By the 4th day I could sleep in my bed with pillows around me. You are peeing a lot because they filled you with fluids. I tried to drink my fluids earlier in the day so I would not have to get out of bed as much. Best wishes in a speedy recovery.
  11. I use Unjury protein with almond milk. It is made for bariatric patients and dissolves better. I gag on protein water too. I add plain protein to chicken broth and tomato soup.
  12. Don't feel bad eating in front of him. I have no hunger and sit with my family for dinner. I'll eat my tiny dinner with them. I notice how fast they eat. I never noticed before. I don't feel left out at all.
  13. Pay attention to your bowel movements. Sometimes weight gain is just because you haven't emptied in a few days.
  14. Unfortunately my husband likes to go out a lot and has pressured me to go. It is a struggle that we are working through. He has dialysis 3 nights a week so he doesn't want to leave me home. I have learned I can eat shrimp, lobster, salmon (nothing fried, little tiny bites and chew, chew, chew). Chili is also a good option since it has beans. I mostly eat the beans. I always take food home. If I order a whole meal, my daughter has lunch for the next day.
  15. I was sleeved 4/6 at St Joes in Orange. My care was excellent. I've been walking and riding my bike. I can start working out next week.
  16. Congratulations! Wishing you the best.
  17. Great news. I have Cigna too. Once you jump through all of their hurdles it's smooth sailing.
  18. I am 4 weeks out also. I was not making meeting my fluid intake. I started setting alarms on my phone to remind me to drink water and meals. It's getting easier now. Good luck!
  19. Very impressive!
  20. I use my fitness pal. It's a free app or you can pay for more functions.
  21. My psychologist just talked to me. It was actually relaxing. They basically want to know that you are going into this with the right attitude and that you are ready to make the changes.
  22. Are you pre or post surgery?
  23. Congrats! The gas takes a few days to subside, walking helps. My stomach cramped if my sips were too big. Take tiny, slow sips. Welcome to the other side.
  24. Unjury is very gentle. I like the chocolate and vanilla and chicken soup. I would suggest the variety starter pack so you can taste them all. I used premiere protein prior to surgery and my stomach can't handle it after surgery.
  25. Good for you. Congratulations.
