Hopeful_GS got a reaction from quana711 in Drinking alcohol again????
I've had a glass of wine at a happy hour or at dinner with friends. I'm a fan of chilled white wine, sav. blanc or pinot gr. Nothing sweet but I think that's personal preference. The red doesn't settle well in my stomach, feels too heavy and thick for some reason. I would totally do vodka, if I like it- but I don't so my options are pretty limited.
I tried a glass of champagne on new years, the first carbonated drink I've had since my surgery (this past March) and it did not go well. I'll spare you the details but no, absolutely not- never again. lol

Hi everyone!
it's been a while since I've posted before and after pictures, so here goes. I am 19 months post-op (VSG) and am blessed to have such great results!
I am 51, 5'8" and while the weight loss is awesome, I most proud of what I have accomplished in my general fitness (thanks to great fitness training with an emphasis on strength training!)
Here's to success for each and every person on this board and on this journey - IT CAN BE DONE and YOU CAN DO IT.

I don't drink often, but when I do, it's hard liquor. Honestly, there are just fewer calories and carbs than in wine. I usually do vodka and Water and I add Mio flavoring to it; it's yummy!

Wow! I am impressed and jealous of all of you; Hopeful, BeanieSprouts, NelliSleeve and CurleyQ you have been doing fantastic.
Sleeved on March 28 and I haven't been on for a while probably because I've been stalled for 2-3 months and haven't felt like talking about it. BUT I seem to have broken it in just the last 2 weeks. Been snacking too much and not careful with portions or speed eating.
Going back to basics: increase Protein, increase liquid, lower carbs and slow down.

VSG on March 2,2018 pretty pleased with my new tool. HW 380, SW 315, CW 224. Have come a long ways already. With many more roads to travel. But this is one hell of a start I think. How are you other March sleepers doing?

Hopeful_GS reacted to sandra305 in When did you start losing hair?
at about 4mos post op. It sucks, but it stops eventually.

Hopeful_GS reacted to 336Mike in Does anyone regret getting the sleeve?
My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! Many of us get cold feet during the process, it's normal. Do what is right for you.

Hopeful_GS reacted to BuzzVSG in Poll: What is your goal?
My goal weight is 185 lbs. I am 5'8. My all time highest was 289 lbs. I had surgery on March 19 and my weight was 263. This morning I was 237 lbs. I have 52 lbs to go to hit goal.

I'm going to guess it's the time travel. Temporal flux is hard on the body.

Hopeful_GS reacted to allwet in No weight loss since surgery
Ok so i have no fear of being first or being wrong or both so here goes.
I dont think your surgeon did you any favors with the solid foods 2 weeks in.
the 5-6 week transition back to solids gives you a chance to get your brain and stomach talking to each other again in a healthy way. It provides a time for you to learn the difference between Head hunger and actual hunger.
lets face it no one in need of WS surgery is in any danger of starving to death. If we cant be honest with ourselves and other WS patients who can we be honest with.
that "Hunger" you feel every 2 hours is in your head and you have not taken the time since surgery to break that habit.
i honestly dont know what your doctor was thinking. maybe some others who had doctors that let them go back to solids so fast will jump in later and explain it.
i cant recommend anything except to try to get past eating every 2 hours. that is what got you to this point in the first place
get Water and Protein in that order in the start try to keep calorie count low and stretch out the time between meals a little at a time till you get back to a more eating schedule
good luck

Hopeful_GS got a reaction from debbie89 in How are fellow March sleevers doing?
3 days out and doing ok. I was able to finish a Protein Shake today, though it took an hour and a half. No chance of me meeting my 64oz goal but I continue my sips.
How long until I can get on the scale and see all of this surgery bloat and Water weight gone? I GAINED 7 lbs from the surgery, which I understand is mostly bloating due to the swelling. But when will I see the number slide back down?? A week post-op or longer?

I’m sorry to hear about your Seroma!! I had to google that, sounds very painful.
I’m going to the dr for my 2 week post op on Wednesday, I was planning to talk to him then about the pain. Luckily, the pain is now only present when I bend down or reach high with my left side. So that makes me think that it’s probably just muscle pain- who knows.
I was stalled for a few days but finally lost a pound. Feeling super relived and ready to go on puréed food. I’m seriously craving tuna and roasted broccoli (puréed of course).
I haven’t had anything other than Protein Shakes, sugar free popsicles, sugar free pudding, and fat free yogurt since March 15th!!

I started soft foods today! Stayed away from meat in puree stage cause that just sounded disgusting. But I had a little canned chicken mixed with guacamole for lunch and a small piece of mahi mahi for dinner! I've never been so satisfied in my life!

I’m in the exact same boat as you. Down to the day and the amount of liquid you are taking in!
I’ve only lost 7lbs since surgery but I’m still holding onto a lot of Water. Looking forward to the end of the week!

I've kept myself satisfied, don't feel too thirsty overall. I should add I do have a cup of broth and a sugar free ice pop each day as well. So I guess my liquid intake is probably slightly higher overall.

So wanted to post a small update. I'm now one week post-op and while I still have some mild discomforts at times, I've been feeling pretty good.
I have been struggling to get all of my fluids in. My surgeon wants me drinking 32oz a day of Water plus one 12oz shake broken down over the day. I haven't kept a solid water count, but I'm likely getting about 20oz or do and drinking half of the shake each day.
Despite these little issues, I'm doing really well. Down 13lbs since last Monday and I'm looking forward to returning to work on Wednesday.

I did and 2 weeks post op still do. I’m just so happy things are moving that I don’t care.
Earlier on I was only consuming liquids and also I think some of the medications I take have come into play as well.
