    Capital Health Plan (CHP)

It wasn’t too bad. Met with my surgeon January 4th 2018 and had my surgery April 25th 2018. There’s no 6 month supervised diet. Had to meet with a nutritionist twice if I remember correctly. Also had to see a few more doctors to make sure I didn’t have sleep apnea or any heart/lung problems. My PCP also had to send my surgeon a letter recommending me for surgery. Best of luck!!

    Cruising after VSG

That’s right around the corner. I’m excited for you!!! Mine doesn’t leave until December 2 [emoji23] I just love cruising so much, I can talk about it all day long. You are going to do great and I hope you have a ton of fun!!

    Cruising after VSG

Taking protein powder and bars on board is a great idea! I usually pack workout clothes for every past cruise too but they never got used for working out [emoji23] I’m also hoping to finally get on the slides! Have always been afraid to because of my weight. I have always been above the weight limit for most things majority of my life. Might be adventurous and go zip lining too! I hope you have fun on your trip as well!!

    Cruising after VSG

Thank you! I’ll definitely try that water tip, even now. Some days I really struggle. I hope you have fun on your trip!
  5. By the time we set sail, I’ll be just over 7 months post op... I’m thinking WAY ahead of myself but of course the cruise excitement is getting to me. I’ve cruised tons of times but with a full stomach (and have gained way too much [emoji23]) Anyone been on a cruise post WLS? How was it for you? I’m nervous about struggling with my water intake and vitamin regimen... We are going with a pretty large group (15 People) and only 3 of them know of my surgery so of course I’m also worried about the looks I’ll get for not feasting on all of the cruise food lol. I feel like by 7 months I should have my routine down packed but we all know how vacations are. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Any tips/suggestions/stories? Please share [emoji4]

    5 weeks post op

Just over 3 weeks here. Sadly, only 10lbs down. I guess I’m one of the slow losers Still learning to drink more water. I can’t stomach crystal light anymore so I’m just drinking water plain. Most foods sit well with me, thankfully. Still have lots more to try but I’m in no rush to push it. Still happy with my food selection for now.

    Eating too fast

I JUST had this problem. Waited too long to eat so I scarfed down some chick fil a grilled nuggets and had a ton of discomfort. I totally agree with what someone else said, cutting up your food really helps. When I meal prep, I cut things up real small because I know once I’m hungry, I don’t think about those things... I just want to eat! lol

    Soda!

I was like that about my coffee! Lol. I’m only 10 days post op but I really don’t miss drinking coffee. Slowly gave it up during my pre op diet because I HAD to. Since then, I don’t even crave it. I’m allowed to drink decaf but I don’t see the sense in it [emoji23] I never thought I’d be that person. Giving up coffee was my BIGGEST fear. I would drink at least 3 cups a day! But here I am, post op and doing just fine with out it!

    When is your wls?

Mostly my new pouch and incision pain. For some reason my dr made the incision where he removed my stomach really big 🤦🏾‍♀️ that’s causing me the most trouble now. Hopefully at 2 weeks out I’ll be feeling better. Thanks!!

    Pre-op Diet Is Horrible

It does get better!! Sugar free popsicles saved me throughout my pre op diet! I also bought soups and just strained out all the solid pieces and just drank the broth... much tastier than just buying chicken broth. That helped a lot too! Best of luck!! It’ll all be worth it!
  12. I was sleeved on 4/25. Granted, in the hospital and a few days after, there were moments when I was thinking “What did I do to myself?!” But as of right now, I have no regrets! Down 7 lbs since surgery and 30lbs from my highest weight! I wouldn’t change it for the world! I am still in pain sometimes but I can feel it getting better and that’s the important part.

    When is your wls?

SUPER late on this. I think I was one of the few that had a miserable post op. Surgery was Wednesday 4/25 and was discharged 4/27. STILL in some kind of pain to this day but it’s nothing like it was the first 5 days post op. Everything hurt going down... no matter how small the sip or the temperature. Today is the first day I can “eat” without feeling a ton of pain. Following up with my surgeon on Monday so hopefully I’m feeling better by then! Every day is a little bit better. It’s really a day by day process.

    Nightmares

I used to have nightmares almost every night! I’d dream that I’d have my first sip of water after surgery and the water would just pour out of one of my incisions [emoji23] Nightmares about starving during post op. Being around food when I couldn’t eat. Something going wrong during surgery. You name it, I had a nightmare about it. It has to be normal. I’d just talk to someone about it. Usually my mom. She was/is my sound board.
