    Hi
Nope- don’t regret it- would do it again. Best decision ever.

I had a BMI of 36 with apnea and reflux . Apnea and reflux gone

BostonWLKC got a reaction from Jerseygirl4523 in Sleeve or Bypass with GERD?
My understanding is that bypass eliminates GERD where the sleeve has less of a chance of eliminating it

I had it and have no trace after bypass

It’s definitely different for me. I don’t get a full feeling ...I feel like the food sits in my throat (assume that’s food that isn’t in the stomach bc it’s full?? Dunno)

Either way- I always measure and just go with 3-4 ounces

I don't know about everyone else but the whole not being hungry thing is a massive incentive.

I still crave pizza and fizzy drinks like anything but I know one slice of pizza would fill me and a fizzy drink would bloat me so what's the point?

I've had a tiny sliver of cake at work and today I tries a few crisps that my brother was raving about but those tiny bits were enough.

They will be for you as well, you got to just stick with yourself.

BostonWLKC reacted to Mountaingal in Considering a lap band - scared after reading this forum!
Don't know if you have gone ahead and got a band yet. I found your post a little late in the game. I don't know if it is available in South Africa but another option is gastric plication. It is not terrifically popular in the US but in Europe and some other countries it highly rated. They tuck part of your stomach into your stomach (so it take up room) and stitch it so it stays there. You are not as hungry afterwards. It is a simpler and less invasive surgery than bypass or sleeve. There is plication forum here you could go to and there is lots of info on line about the procedure. No erosion etc from the band with this.

Surgery was great for me- just some really bad gas pains for about 2 hours after surgery. The rest of the time has been sore but nothing that would ever make me rethink. Best decision ever

BostonWLKC reacted to Mattymatt in Frustrated with Process - suggestions please!
It's not really that much of a pickle at all - it's easily solved. Sometimes you just have to go through the motions. Just nod your head and say "Yes, I'll do that." Then do your own thing. You might have to create some fake food records to show the dietitian that you "followed" her advice and still did not lose weight. Yes, it is kind of lying but the issue is not so black and white because you've probably lost weight before but have struggled in maintenance. The whole point of the surgery is that you don't only lose weight, but you have greater chances for success in the maintenance phase. Just tell them what they want to hear. It really goes back to the utter stupidity of insurance forcing you to do something - again - that has not worked in the past.

Take some deep breaths and try to take your mind off. You’ll go to sleep and wake up a new person (ok after a few hours of gas pain)

I may have said “i know you don’t necessarily agree with it but I’m asking you to support me”

    Hi
Just curious what folks are doing for caloric intake in this post op range? I was told by my NUT that the longer I can stay off carbs the better since you can’t go back easily once you do. Soooo I’ve stayed at the 5-600 range with the diet of lean meat, dairy etc and haven’t added anything
Reading a few posts that staying at a low caloric intake can backfire??
    Thoughts?

I have had muffins and I get dumping syndrome every time. It is one of the few things that gives me dumping syndrome. It doesn't happen right away--about 2 hours later I get a little shaky, lightheaded, and nauseous. I actually feel like I'm going to pass out. I never do of course. It only last about 10-15 minutes but it is a bit weird.
I wish I had never started with a muffin. Once you do, it opens yourself to having them again and again. You would do yourself a HUGE favor if you don't have any. Seriously.
