I only have one tattoo...a tiny wolf on the back of my thigh howling up at "the full moon"
I'm not an ink person, but I let my daughter's bestie do it, she's an intern tattoo artist and needed work for her portfolio:) She did a beautiful job.

PeacockConnie reacted to anonymom26 in 1 year surgiversary and reached my goal!
I know some people here have enjoyed seeing my progress, so I wanted to do another update. I recently had my 1 year surgery anniversary from my gastric bypass. I have also reached goal and am no longer losing weight, so I figured now was a good time!
I am so happy I had my bypass. I am running, hiking, and doing all the physical things that I was limited in before. I eat well and don't feel any loss or limitation emotionally. I have added carbs back in now that I am at goal, and have maintained well (even lost a little) over the past 5 months since hitting goal and going off Keto.
I had my 1 year follow up with my doctor, and he congratulated me for losing 100% excess weight and for doing it in less than a year!

PeacockConnie reacted to serenityjames81 in The 5 day pouch test DOES work!
Not that I was skeptical, but to a degree in your mind you think nothing works for YOU. I kept reading success stories but felt I would be different. February 11th will be my 3 year surgiversary, and for about a year and a half I've just been maintaining my weight. But I knew I wasn't done, that I had about 50lbs more to lose... so I started watching what I ate more, didn't eat after 7pm, exercised more, drank more Water (64oz or more), all that but my weight wouldn't move or kept creeping up. So I read and read and read and finally decided to do the test, although I don't have a pouch but a sleeve.
This wasn't just to start losing again but it reset my mind back to the basics. I'm on day three now, soft Protein and for the first time in two years eating 1 1/2 scrambled eggs filled me up. Weighed myself before I ate and lost 6lbs. Motivating me to finish off the last couple of days and focus on my intake more once it's over. I pray my weight keeps going down because this mornings number (244)... [started at 322, surgery weight 308... maintaining between 245 and 250...] is the lowest I've ever seen. If I hit 239, imma buy everyone a car !!! Jk jk but y'all see what I mean. My point is if you've hit a stall or have maintained for too long and wanna keep going.. get your mind right and this will help you refocus. ????

I get what you are saying but, this group does teach good nutrition and lifelong skills needed to succeed as well as requiring the 4 week pre op diet. My thinking is that it speaks more about the fact that people that actually follow the pre op diet are more likely to follow the post op diet/instructions. As for having a better outcome when losing weight pre op, the surgery is safer and not as many complications if the patient loses weight pre op.
I could be wrong. I will have to take another look at it tomorrow.

hey all. was it just me or did breaking the 300 barrier feel like one of life's greatest accomplishment? crossing into the 300's was like entering the abyss for me. and once i got there, i kinda spiraled to a day of surgery weight of 360!! 3 1/2 months now post-sleeve and I am now 275. just so remarkable, really. and crossing back into the 200's was one of of the greatest joys i have experienced in a long time. now i'm on a mission to cross back into the 1's (?/!).
i sincerely hope that all guys thinking about bariatric, or who have done it and need to come out of the 3's experience the same sense of satisfaction and joy that i did.
just what was on my mind today.

Hello! I am down 13 lbs since surgery, 30 total with pre-op diet. I don't think I'm eating enough really. I get a shake in the morning and eat 2 small meals and I'm done. I do drink constantly though.
35 lbs is great! That seems typical with the few people I chat with. Since your exercising, eat some Protein or drink a little shake before and after your workout, that's what doctor told me to do. Keep doing what your doing, and in a few months you'll be amazed at the difference in yourself!!

Had VSG surgery this morning. I woke up with bad pain in recovery. I’m feeling better now but still having a lot of gas pains. About to go walk around the floor to see if that will help with the gas. I’ve been tired though in & out of sleep all morning. So far so good though.

Hi all! It’s been quite some time since I posted! I had a bit of a rough time after we moved to Virginia. I fell into a bit of a depression having moved all the way across the country from my family, leaving my friends, leaving my career as an RN to be a stay at home mom... lots of great changes were happening too, but I just had a hard time coping with it all.
Anyway, things are much better, and I’m enjoying this new life! I’m almost 9 months post op lower body lift and thigh Lipo and 3 yr 8mo post op gastric sleeve. I’m 5’ 6” and my current weight is 162, exactly 100 lbs down from my sleeve surgery, and a new low for me as an adult! I’ve been trying to work out more, and sticking to a clean healthy low carb diet.
I LOVE my post op results!!! Dr. Stacey Folk in Denver is my angel! I do eventually want to have my thighs done, but that will have to wait for now...
I currently wear a size 8/10 bottoms and S/M tops. I also plan on wearing a bikini in public when I go to Vegas in a couple weeks!!!
Anyway, I just wanted to check in And update you all. Hope everyone is well!

I have hypothyroidism as well. I stuck to my pre-op diet religiously. shake for Breakfast, shake for lunch and 4 oz Protein with a veggie. Went from 331 on 3/13 to 317 on surgery day 3/26. You can do it!

I'm not trying to be unkind, but why in the world would you drink sugary juice (I am assuming from the tone of your post that this is what you meant by juice) and eat potato chips when you have had not one but TWO weight loss surgeries?
At some point, you have to muster the grit and perseverance you need to be successful and rise to the occasion. Otherwise, all of this trauma to your body will be for nothing.
Are you working with a therapist who specializes in bariatric patients? It would probably be helpful. You HAVE to change your relationship with food and embrace the kind of eating that will make you successful (protein rich).
I wish you the best, but only you can make this happen. As you know, the surgery will not do it on its own...
