It's difficult to say what I eat in a typical day because no 2 days are typical for me, Yesterday:
    B: Premier shake with coffee
s: 3/4 single serving lite and fit greek yogert
L; chicken, pinto Beans, sautéed onions/peppers, with salsa (about 1/3 c total)
S: cheese slice (microwaved) w/ PB powder mix
D: chicken and green beans (about 1/4 c chicken and 1/3 c green beans)
    s: 4 oz cottage cheese w/ 2 T sf apple sauce.
I was struggling to meet Protein goals yesterday but today I'm right on track

I use my fitness pal so I’m looking at my middle of January log here. Six weeks was when I was first cleared for salad and Protein bars, so I see lots of salads on here lol.
My days are very similar though. Same calorie range, same foods. Lots of chicken burgers, turkey meatballs, fish, cottage cheese, salads, yogurts, etc.
The only food I tried so far I was really intolerant of was diced ham at six weeks. I’m not intolerant of any food I have tried since then.
Quantity wise I’ve been able to eat two eggs since about 7 weeks out. I can drink a Protein Shake in a few minutes. I can eat 3 oz of say a chicken burger but 6 oz of Soup or yogurt. I can eat one egg with two small turkey sausage patties. I can eat 4 oz of cottage cheese. If I try to eat whole pieces of chicken, I can eat only five or six small pieces no matter how well I chew it or what sauce it’s in.
I have not eaten bread or Pasta. I have eaten a few fork fulls of rice with some chicken curry I made.
I am human, I did eat the top of a cupcake at Easter.
    Hope this helps lol.

Hi it's a total loss of 132 pounds, very easy at first but now have to do a lot of hard work!! I'm happy being a clothes size 16 so anything I can get off now so a bonus! Considering I started at a size 26, a 16/14 is good for me! Xx

My favorite diets are Mediterranean and mayo Clinic Diet...which sound a lot like you describe. I'm not a fan of all this animal Protein. I've started making vegetable Soup with pea powder and brown rice powder in it (a complete amino acid)...to get more veggie protein in.
I also eat a lot of nut butter, chia seed pudding, lentils, chickpeas, Beans, etc. I like fungus protein, and do some soy.
I also do chicken breast, fish, very lean red meat (super trimmed of all fat), eggs, yogurt, etc. But I try to balance it with at least equal plant protein.
There is a whole section of this website that caters to vegetarian and vegan recipes for weight loss surgery.
In the early weeks post surgery....you're going to have a problem with skins, and seeds...you won't digest them well and they can get caught in your suture line and cause problems. (even in smoothies the tiny seeds can be an issue) Forget about raw veggies and fruits...It all needs to be super soft at first.
In the early weeks post surgery...you won't like bread. Or it won't like you. Bread is difficult at first, particularly whole grains. (But you will have a love affair with oatmeal:) )
By two months post-surgery you'll be able to eat almost anything. You can start reintroducing the foods you love.
A word about protein.....you have special needs while you're in the weight loss phase as a bariatric patient. You will have a high demand for protein and if you are not consuming it, your body will consume YOUR muscles instead...and one muscle in particular is pretty important...your heart! Eating more protein protects us from muscle wasting. When your weight loss levels off...you can taper it down, but in the rapid weight loss months it's very important.
I, too, am a big fan of phytonutrients...so I hear ya.

Omg, can we be best friends lol?! RED WEDDING!! I got 2 of those shots, one in the leg, one in the belly the day I went home. I'm currently 12 days post op now I finally was able to sleep maybe day 3 in 4 hour stretches with a weird pillow nest/jungle. After 3 PM my pain in my "big" incision (I'm sure everyone knows the one) is horrible and I literally cry when I get in bed, effing Tylenol. I'm so glad you're feeling better! I honestly would cut your Protein Drinks with milk (I did for a bit) and wait 2 weeks for vitamins, it's standard in bari world. Most places/people I've talked to it's 4 days Clear Liquids, then 10 full liquids then 2 weeks (maybe more) blended diet then soft food, vitamins added at 2 weeks post op. All modified as tolerated. Message me anytime, I can always use a buddy too, especially a GoT fan, if you're a Walking Dead fan we are seriously bffs lol. And my staple scars look like zombie bites

Hi Raven I have had the worst gas pain in my upper left quadrant as well, to the point of tears one afternoon. I was 4 days out. I googled my situation and found someone that had the same problem, and suggested a heating pad on the site. Mine was in my left shoulder and neck, so I put my microwaved heat pack n there and it relieved the pain! It was almost instantaneously. It did not get rid of the gas but the pain was gone! Hope that works for you.

Remember that at 4 weeks post op your body may not be ready for many solids yet. Being full after one or two bites can be normal at this stage. Consider keeping Protein water/shakes as part of your daily diet to get enough protein in and focus on getting lots of Water in. Your body will still have plenty of fat stores to feed on and provided you can get enough Liquid Protein in and your essential Vitamins you won't be losing muscle mass.
Be patient with your body as it recovers from the extremes of surgery. It's been through a lot!
Don't start eating unhealthy foods just to enjoy the feeling/experience of eating larger volumes, as eating to appease our minds/feelings are part of what led us to weight loss surgery in the first place. Enjoy the restriction while it is there, and keep up the mental focus needed to make your surgery an effective tool in your weight loss journey.
(I am still 1 week from sleeve surgery, I know I'm going to miss a lot of stuff for a while, especially while I continue to cook all the regular healthy solids for my kids and husband, but this is my time to put myself and my health first (for once) and the mental game is key to me succeeding!)
You can do this! Keep your long term goals in focus

Nuts--I prefer cashews or pistachios, myself. You have to be a ways down the line for this, but beef Jerky works. Yummy. Yogurt (I know, not crunchy at all). I do some carbs, so cheese and crackers. A friend gave me some Medifast products, so I also have high-protein pretzel sticks and crunch bars (for what it's worth, I like the Peanut Butter ones, the chocolate mint ones, not so much--there's an artificial flavor I can't get past). But it's good to have a crunchy, high-protein, 110-calorie snack on hand.

I was expecting it to be much harder than it was. My recovery went well. I never experienced a lot of pain, I was uncomfortable at times, however I did take my pain meds every 4 hours. I figured it was best to stay on top of it instead of waiting until I was hurting to ask for it. They did have me up and walking every for hours, I think that helped a lot too. My biggest problem when I got home was trying to sleep on my side so I spent a few nights in my recliner. If I new I would get along as well as I have, I would have done this years ago. I know I'm just 3 weeks out but no regrets thus far. I hope all goes well with you.

I'm a little over 2 weeks from my revision from band to RNY. I had my band for 16 years. I am amazed at how well I'm doing just 2 weeks out. I've lost 37 lbs., that includes my 2 week pre-op diet. I feel great! I wish I had done this much sooner. I had developed a hiatal hernia and I could not tolerate any Fluid in my band. That was also repaired in my surgery. Good luck on your journey.

    Hi there
I had my 10 year old band taken out and replaced with RNY 17 weeks ago today. I am now at my best ever band weight, and still easily losing a pound a week. The RNY is an utter breeze compared to a band, seriously! Wish i’d’ve Had the courage to switch years ago!
    Fingers crossed for your journey...

I had an emergency revision from Lapband to RNY on July 5, 2017. I had my Lapband placed 1/2010 and in 7 years went through a LOT of misery and pain (too many details) and only lost 32 lbs, then gained 12 back. Since my RNY last July, I am thrilled to have lost 43 lbs. I can even eat without being in pain for literally hours every day. I have very little hunger - and sometimes eat to live ... and not live to eat. I am now under my goal in less than a year. Don’t be nervous. I’m sure that one day you will also be saying it was the best decision of your life. It certainly was for me!

Hang in there Kim. You are already dealing with enough adjusting to the surgery and listening to your body. It's not easy. Listen to what the doctor says, but do what you have to do to stay sane and focused. This is YOUR journey. You make what you want out of it. You are doing fine. Just stay positive and take it one day at a time. We are always here if you need to vent. We all in this together! Go git'm!

I had the same issue when I got my referral to the surgeon. I actually gained a pound the first month. Went crazy eating foods I knew I wouldn't be able to eat after. My liquid diet starts in 10 days. I'm nervous but I know I've learned some great tools to overcome head hunger. I've worked really hard to get approved and have to stay positive. You've got this!!

The pre-op diet for my surgeon's office was terrifyingly awful, but mine was only one week. If I remember correctly (I try to block it out because I hated it with a fiery passion) all meals were replaced with a Protein Shake until 2 days before surgery and then it was "basic" liquid like broth until surgery. I was the most tired, miserable, headachy person for that week. I just kept telling myself--if you can't make it through a week of this, how do you expect to make it through a lifetime of healthy lifestyle? And every time I wanted to eat ACTUAL food and CHEW something I just said it again....and again...and again.

Your happiness comes before anyone else! If he can't get on the support train, then let him leave. Who would want you to be overweight and increase your risks of health and the quality of your life? Is he insecure that you will leave him anyways? I would rather be alone then in a relationship with someone threatening to leave if you better yourself. No way!

I didn't have much trouble with the goals as I get my Protein, Water and supplements in. I dont know if my protein regimin would help you. But I sip a premier protien drink half in the am and half around dinner, that's 30g. Breakfast is either a oikos triple zero yogurt thinned down a bit with some skim milk so it doesn't sit so heavy, 15g. Or a dannon light and fit yogurt shake, 12g. Whichever I don't have for breakfast I have for a snack later. I eat the yogurt slowly with a baby spoon and get up and walk for a few to help with the bloated gasey feeling. Just those three things are 57g, throw in some broth for dinner and I can usually get over 60g. Water is just a constant small sip, but ever since surgery and having only ice chips that day I have a new found love of ice water. I have a 24oz shake cup that goes with me everywhere.

Hi there. My 6 month supervised diet is set to be over on April 10th. My Dr. Has given me a time frame of surgery being 1 or 2 months after that which could put me into June for surgery. It seems like a long time to wait to me as I’m already super impatient! I’m curious to see how long insurance approval took for others. I have regence uniform plus for insurance. My Dr. Says I’m doing really well so far with my diet and he thinks I’m a great candidate for surgery so I don’t foresee there being any problems.
