Time Off - vent about my boss
Still in the process, I have about 2-3 months left before surgery. Today my boss asked me how much time off I would need, I told her about 2 weeks. She then said that was too long. Well, not much I can do about that, it is what it is. I have 2 weeks of vacation saved so it's not like I'm taking it off unpaid. She asked when and I told her I would work it out so I'd be here for the end of our fiscal year in June, so early May or I'd wait until July. She said neither were good and to find another time. There is one other person that does the same job as I do, he is retiring in September. So I have to do it before September. She's been super cranky and hard to work with for the past year. This is to take care of my health....I wanted to let her have it but I need my job so I just stayed quiet.

How to meet people?
Where do you go to meet people? I’m not a bar or club person. And I live in a fairly remote area. Do people still use Match.com or anything? I’m not necessarily looking for something super serious but the last time I was on one of those sites it seemed to be full of people who never wanted to meet or I’d just get random inappropriate pictures.

New!
Welcome. I'm nervous too! I think that is part of the whole process. Good luck.

Feeling Lost
Thanks for the tips. The diet is ok. Getting my protein and fiber, barely any carbs at all. If I do have them it’s beans. I’ve started hitting my water goal and had to ditch the Diet Coke, with all that water there is no room for Diet Coke! it’s a lot of change at once and this week it is overwhelming. I am recovering from the flu and that doesn’t help. A lot of self reflection going on right now and a lot of anxious energy. Maybe this is the time to do a deep house cleaning, burn off some of the anxiety and doubt.

Feeling Lost
That’s a good idea. I used to knit. I could pick it up again. Thanks!

Feeling Lost
I’m halfway through the process and I hope to have surgery in May. As of now I have quit smoking, am trying to stop Diet Coke and am now on a 1600cal diet (surgeon required). The calorie reduction is new. I lost 15 the first 3 months and they want me to drop another 15. I’ve had to stop using my “crutches” and it just has me in a weird place. This week is really bad. I know it’s for the ultimate good and I’ll be better off in the long run but right now it makes me wonder if I can really do this. And of course my therapist is on vacation. I’m sure others have gone through this. Any tips?

My program says over a year.

CPAP Nightmare?!?!
It takes time to adjust. Just stick with it, eventually you will hate sleeping without it. When I don’t use mine I feel horrible. The only time it gives me problems now is if I’m sick.

Sugar grams
My program says to keep meals at 8g or less. The new nutrition labels coming out by April will show added sugar, when that happens they want us to keep added sugar under 4.

Centers of Excellence
So 7 years ago my friend had RNY at a Center of Excellence. 1.5 years later his surgeon lost his accreditation and so did the hospital. I think it's more about looking up malpractice cases for your surgeon and hospital. I'm going with a research hospital, affiliated with a medical school so they are pretty cutting edge with most things.

Pregnant 6 months after sleeve
I just met with my surgeon for my preop consult. I asked about pregnancy after surgery and he said to take a prenatal on top of my Bariatric multi. that way you still get all you need and the baby still gets what he/she needs. To quote him “the bariatric multi is for you, the prenatal is for the baby”

Partner's opinions on loose skin?
I’m worried about it too. I’ve tried to talk to my bf about it but he doesn’t want to talk about it. So, I’ve decided that if he doesn’t like it, too bad for him. That excess skin means I’m healthier and if he can’t handle it he can leave.

Anyone tried stomach taping or bandaging?
Try vet wrap. You can find it in a horse tack store. You can get white or off white and it will come off easily. I forgot a sports bra at a horse show once and didn’t want to have my boobs flopping all over the ring. The vet wrap worked wonders. It looks great on you. Congrats on the weight loss and your wedding!

Period during surgery, please help!
I had lung surgery a few years ago and had my period. I was worried about that. I told the nurse in preop and it was no big deal. They deal with it all the time.
