January 5, 20188 yr Author So do they test you for nicotine at the pre op visit or right before your actual surgery Sent from my N9560 using BariatricPal mobile app

It will be a urine test. I quit 8 years ago using ecigs. I am still using my ecigs just with zero nicotine. I will have to completely give vaping up before surgery as the suction required to vape is not allowed post op.
January 5, 20188 yr They didn't tell me I had to quit...they said I should....so idk but I stopped, surgery planned for Monday the 8thSent from my LG-M210 using BariatricPal mobile app

January 6, 20188 yr I had to test at my consultation and will test again at my pre-op appointment. I was told it was required to have been quit for at least 6 weeks. If not they would not do the surgery because of the risks it would pose (ulcers and extremely slow healing).Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal mobile app
January 17, 20188 yr My surgeon gave me a handout that said have to quit 30 days before surgery or the surgeon will not operate
February 6, 20188 yr I was a heavy smoker and quit for 9 years. Started again due to a very stressful event and quit 6 weeks before surgery. It's hard but I feel the benefits already x
