Hey everyone I got my date it’s April 11th my emotion are everywhere now I have to tell my job. It’s crazy because I work in the hospital where I’m getting my surgery done at

I’m getting the sleeve also. I’m very nervous no one in my family really knows. I’m actually scared to tell anyone. I just told my fiancé he was against it at 1st until I told him my current weight.

We have the same date! Where are you from?

I was told 1 or 2 days, if no complications, fingers crossed. Im thinking about sleeping position with the incisions, Im a part side/back sleeper. Only time will tell.

@Awhite hey were the same age I’m having the gastric sleeve surgery I’m nervous and excited also I only have to do 1week of the liquid diet

Wow, I’m so excited that so many people have responded and PM’d and I’m so happy that all this stuff won’t go to waste!!!

For now, I think I have enough people to cover the amount of stuff I have, or vice versa, but if/when I’m making up the packages and I am able to send out more stuff, I will post again.

Thanks again for your responses. You don’t know how good it does my heart to know this stuff will be put to good use!

It's ruined my life too. The only reason I had RNY was to address pain issues that were blamed on me being overweight. I had a crazy high metabolic rate before surgery and we knew I'd gain back the weight quickly.
I had a stroke during the surgery with permanent damage. So many of the things I was really good at are gone. I have to learn differently now. I can't take anything I think I know for granted.
My pain, after losing 130 pounds, was identified as fibromyalgia, deteriorating joint disease, and critical damage I did to my joints by being so physically active when I was heavy and trying to get healthy (lose weight, my health was perfectly fine otherwise.)
My pouch didn't stretch much. I max out at 1 cup at a time. My malnutrition, anemia, and endocrine issues are a constant threat to my health.
I eat so little, it's embarrassing to eat with other people. They get concerned about how little I eat. Eating in a restaurant is a waste - I have 3 bites of this, 2 of that, and my meal is over. Cooking for myself is miserable. I used to be an excellent cook. Shopping and cooking for maybe 20 cups of food per week without cooking once and eating leftovers for the rest of the week means SO much work and so much money wasted.
I lost my livelihood, my retirement, filed bankruptcy, lost my social contacts because of my cognitive problems caused by the brain injury during surgery.
I can't keep my weight stable. The less I eat, the more weight I gain (same problem as before surgery).
My pain is only just being managed in a way that I'm not dumb and stupid for hours at a time.
Eating is misery.
I met with my therapist today. We talked about food for the first time. She suggested I think about how I want food to be in my life. I decided to come online and see if there was a support group for people who are also having a hard time after RNY.
I feel a little less alone.

Hi all! Update here. No catheter while in hospital and made it home around 3. I’m surprised how fast the day went. Around 8am we drank the Fluid in front of the X-ray and upon passing had to drink 8 one ounce glasses of fluid. I was so thirsty that the first 4 (all water) went down pretty fast (drank 4 in 10 min). I was surprised by the size of sip I could take without experiencing pain. It was more than I had expected. The second 4 cups took a little longer (30 min) and included juice and broth. Water was by far the easiest to drink.

After that I felt bloated and went for a walk followed by a short nap. They also gave me some Pepcid to help with acid. At 1130 they got us started on stage 2 diet and we had a choice of cottage cheese or tuna. I was a bit scared but managed to eat half cup of the cottage cheese. Still felt bloated and uncomfortable. There was a group of 8-10 of us and most of us were discharged between 1-2.

When I got home I took a 15 min walk then slept. I’ve felt super bloated all day since drinking on my own. I am burping ALL THE TIME. I took some of the one ounce hospital cups and have been using those to help drink. I can finish one in 3 sips with no pain but need to wait a few min before having another. Occasionally I’ll have a painful wave of gas but mostly just feel bloated and uncomfortable. Took 2 strips of gas-x, one when I first got home and one later when I was trying to drink broth around 7pm. Tomorrow I plan to do lots of walking so hopefully that will help. Taking it one day at a time!

Well we are both going to playing the waiting game together. I also started back in September. I had my last appointment last week so I’m just waiting on insurance now
