  1. Yeah!! We made it!!! We will never forget April 2006, will we? I was banded on April 18, and I'm doing very well. Still a little sore in the port area--that incision is a little uglier than the others, but I think I'm ok. I've lost 15 lbs since the preop liquid deal until now. It may be more, but I'm afraid to weigh since I started my period today, and I ALWAYS gain water weight during this time, so I'm going to weigh in about 5 days or so. So glad we made it through--now the hard works comes. Can't wait to see how different we are in April 2007. I don't have a date yet for my first fill, but it will probably be in a bout 4 1/2 weeks or so. My doc. said that he gives the first fill at 6 weeks post-op. Blessings to you all--
  2. I'll "drink" to that!! Still on the post-op liquid phase. I was 255 on Thursday morning. I did not weigh this morning because I started my monthly "blessing" today, which always makes me gain weight. But, Monday, I'll weigh, and I plan to be at least 253!!!
  3. Found some great soups at Kroger's (grocery store in the south U.S) in the health food dept. They are all organic soups--are already strained and are so so delicious. The ones I bought were: sweet potato, broccoli, butternut squash, and potato leek. They come in a cardboard carton. You just pour the soup in a pan and heat--don't add any water. I add a little bit of sour cream to them, and boy, are they delicious!!! Hope this helps.
  4. You should be very proud of yourself. What an accomplishment! I've lost 14 lbs. in a week or so, and I feel on top of the world. Keep it up!
  5. Yoda, I'm glad the nausea has stopped for you. Is vomitting the main thing you have to worry about in regards to slippage?
  6. Hello, April Bandsters-- Update on me--yesterday marked a week out. I've lost about 5 lbs. from the day of surgery and about 14 lbs from the day I saw the surgeon--back in Feb., I think. I'm a little sore in the port area but feel great otherwise--a little tired at times, too, because I think I'm doing too much (I was vacuuming, etc. two days after surgery--I have three children under the age of 5, and even though my husband is still home, I have a LOT to do). Glad to see that everyone is home and sound. Good luck to you all. ***Oh Telly Melly, thank you for that link to the lap band surgery site--it was quite amazing. It reinforced to me how much I need to keep with the liquids, etc. until I am completely healed. I haven't vomited at all--just a little nauseated here and there. How about the rest of you?
  7. So, so, so, so happy for you!! It won't be long now. Congrats a thousand times!
  8. Good Luck, Roberta!!! It'll be a peice of cake for you--just don't eat that cake.
  9. Hi, Wanda! Welcome. You will find great support on thise site. Glad you are here.
  10. Roberta, Just a couple more days. You're going to do great!!!! Good luck and let us know how you are after the big day. Hugs to you...
  11. Thanks everyone. I must be patient! Thanks for the encouragement!
  12. Oh, I know--but if I weighed 260.5 on the morning of surery and in the mean time have had nothing but clear liquids and then weighed in four days later at 268--something's not right--other than this being Water weight. In other words, I have not gained 7.5 pounds of fat on clear liquids. There's no way, right? If anything, I should have lost some. Time will tell, I'm sure.
  13. Thanks, Kathy! I know it's just water weight--it's just hard to convince yourself of that, though.
  14. Hi, all! Three days out and feeling pretty good--thanks to my Lortab syrup. :Banane56: I haven't eaten anything of consequence in six days (just Clear liquids with little calories), and I feel ok, but I'm a little upset about weight. Day of surgery, I weighed 260.5. Now, I weigh 268. I'm sure it's from all the swelling and IV fluids, etc., but it sure sucks to not have any calories for six days, and then gain 7.5lbs. Did this happen to you? WHEN DOES THE SWELLING GO DOWN AND THE WEIGHT LOSS BECOME APPARENT? Well, anyway, onward I go, not giving up EVER. I'm done being obese. Hope everyone is well, and for those who've yet to be banded, hang in there. This is the greatest thing you will do for yourself. Love to all--
  15. Hang in there. There is an answer for you. I pray you find it soon. I know how hard this is--oh, I know. I have a love/hate relationship with food, too. It's so hard... Never give up hope!!! Hugs to you--

  17. I'm home, too. Had the surgery yesterday. All went well. Hardly any pain and was walking around very well right after surgery. After two c-sections and a gall bladder removal, this was a breeze. Looking forward to a new, healthier life. Love to all, Dana
  18. Well--he requires an all liquid diet plus one small meal (like Lean Cuisine) for 30 days. Liquids include 1-2 Protein drinks, sugar-free/fat-free liquids, sugar-free Jello and pudding, etc. I didn't do that well on the liquid part--but I did eat less, and I have lost about 8 lbs. or so. Hope that is enough! Let us know on the "April Bandits" how your surgery went--I'll do the same.
  19. Good Luck, Amourette!!! How many pounds is 4kg?
  20. Thank you, everyone! Mouster--see you in bandland! One more day, huh?
  21. You look awesome!!! Thanks for sharing.
  22. Oh--and my surgery is set for this Tuesday at 8:00am.
  23. Ok--I've not eaten perfectly on my preop diet. I was supposed to be on a 30 day liquid--just couldn't do it. I have, in the last few weeks, lost about 8 lbs, though. Do you think an 8 lbs. weight loss will be enough to shrink my liver? I'm starting to worry that my surgeon will not be able to perform the surgery due to my little weight loss.
  24. Sarah, I know how you feel. I go to our local YMCA often. I'm about your size: 5'5 and 264.5lbs down from 270. I often jogg on the track--about 1-2 miles. Though I'm fat, I can run, girl. I have received all kinds of comments--like, "Wow--you're really doing a good job," and "Keep that up--you'll lose that weight in no time," and "I can't belive you can jog that long," etc. I know people are just trying to be nice, but it makes me kind of ticked. I know they wouldn't say these things to a thin person jogging. They do not know my history. I think many thin people who have never struggled with weight think that we, the obese, just sit around all day eating bon bons. We are not lazy. I'm not lazy. I have three small children, a clean house, work a part-time job, have a master's degree that I paid for myself, exercise daily, and try to eat healthy. I do indulge in food too much, though--my stress reliever, I guess--but my genetics, thyroid, history of being an overweight child--all these things have contributed to my obesity. By the way, a friend of mine is a pharmacist. She said that at a recent seminar she attended, she learned that when people have been overweight for a long period of time--that their fat cells actually release these "demon hormones" (as she called them) that actually send messages to the brain to keep the fat--making you want to eat more--making satisfaction a difficult task. There are so many factors to why we are overweight, and I get sick of ignorant people, too. I know how you feel, girl! Hang in there. Don't ever give up hope.
  25. I love you guys!!! I'm so thankful I stumbled upon this lapbandtalk.com website. You know, before I decided which WLS to get, I looked and looked for a gastric bypass support group on line--I just couldn't find one. I just happened to find this lapband support group by accident. I think by providence, though. I know I am making the right decision! Just 3 more days until I'm a "bandster"!
