suzysunshine123 got a reaction from baribetty in Abilify and slow weight loss?
I had great weight loss and lost 100lbs got under 200 very quickly and then was put back on my Abilify and it was like the weight loss just suddenly stopped now I’ve put back on 20 lbs and they have switched around meds. Not at all happy about it.

suzysunshine123 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Incision dent
I’m one month post op and I still have the dent in the same spot... The largest incision where the stomach was pulled out. I wondered if that was normal too. That was the one that was painful too and the pain went away but the dent is still there. All the other scars are flat and look great.

I can relate to the life long struggle. I am 38. Just sleeved 1/23/18. Highest weight 322 Surgery weight 290 Current weight 253 Goal weight 150. I have tried so many diets before and been up and down in weight with nothing that really worked for long or with much weight loss in the last 20 years and been so discouraged and just about given up. I have PCOS, thyroid, been on meds that cause weight gain and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year and decided to take the plunge. So glad I made the decision! Before the surgery with the support from the clinic, and making small changes preparing for the surgery I was able to lose 40 lbs. I actually chickened out cancelled my surgery holidays hit and gained 10 lbs back and then rescheduled with more confidence and was ready to do it in January. Within a month I lost another 30 lbs right away! It’s an entire lifestyle change now and I’m never looking back. I physically cannot! My stomach won’t allow it! I look forward to my new life each and every day! No longer show diabetic in my lab work and off four of my meds. Life is good! So worth it! What do you have to lose?

I figured out I am lactose intolerant. All those Protein Shakes with whey Protein have milk in them! No wonder I stayed nauseous ALL the time! I have tried plant based protein (pea-protein) and no nausea! Glad to figure out the solution to that! What a relief!

As for Protein if you get enough? Don't worry about it. Turns out protein is everywhere. Everything you eat has protein in it. All you will need is B12 if you eat health.

I follow him on FB. Asked him about why bariatric pre and post-op diets are so heavy with animal fat and Protein, and what physiological benefits that has. He actually answered me. "None. No benefit. Just baseless dogma." His new book Proteinaholic arrives tomorrow and I can't wait to read it!

I was vegetarian for 3 years, and always made my own Protein Shakes with Orgain Organic Protein Powder.
2 scoops of Orgain chocolate Protein powder (150 cals, 21g protein, 5g Fiber, 5g net carbs)
1Tbsp of PBFit Peanut Butter Powder (25 cals, 3g protein, 2g fiber, 2g net carbs)
    2Tbsp Hemp Seeds (114 cals, 7g protein, 2g fiber, 0g net carbs)
1Tbsp ground Flax Seeds (37 cals, 1g protein, 2g fiber, 0g net carbs)
2 cups of Unsweetened Almond Milk (60 cals, 2g protein, 0g fiber, 2g net carbs)
1 medium frozen banana (105 cals, 1g protein, 3g fiber, 24g net carbs)
1 cup frozen spinach (45 cals, 6g protein, 4g fiber, 2g net carbs)
Ice and Water to desired consistency
Macros: (536 cals, 41g protein, 18g fiber, 35g net carbs)
This makes approximately 32-40 ounces depending on amount of ice and water added, so if you broke this up to 2 shakes, 268 cals, 20.5g protein, 9g fiber, 17.5g net carbs.

Today’s dinner is brought to you by Two Peas and Their Pod. Lemon Orzo salad with Asparagus Spinach and Feta. Yum! I made it early cause we’ve got somewhere to be. This way dinner is ready when we get home! Can be warm or cold. Omit the feta and it can be vegan too. Still just as good!

I'm sorry you're dealing with the nut allergy! That's sooo frustrating. Definitely glad to hear that your NUT is open to a plant-based diet!
For whole food concentrated Protein, like you said, Beans are definitely the way to go. You can eat hummus or refried beans as well, they are a bit smoother/less filling so you might be able to eat more that way. Another good option is soy, particular soy milk. Make a smoothie with soy milk or add it to your oatmeal and that's 8-12g of protein just from the milk depending on how much you use. (Most other plant milks are low in protein.)
In terms of non-concentrated protein, you can get it from literally any whole food. Whole grain Pasta has a pretty good amount, about 4 grams in half a serving (1 oz dry). Most plant foods will have 1-3g in a serving and throughout the day that adds up.
For plant-based protein that's more processed, like a supplemental protein (which you will definitely need this early post-op) there are some really tasty protein bars I've found called Nugo which are vegan and made from soy protein. I believe many of the flavors do not contain nuts, but you'd have to check to be sure. You can buy them on Amazon or in the Protein Bar aisle at Whole Foods. (And maybe other places!) You can also look for protein powders made from pea protein, brown rice protein, etc. as well. Orgain is one common brand. I just found some ready-made vegan shakes (like premier protein) at Target that I believe are Evolve brand, but I haven't tried them yet. Hopefully they taste all right!
Probiotics... well that's a whole other discussion LOL (basically if you're not eating animal products you likely don't have a big need for probiotics as the plants help your gut bacteria stay happy on their own) but to answer your direct question, there are some fermented plant options! Sauerkraut if you like it, and kombucha tea are two good places to start. You can also make yogurt and kefir from soy milk, although I haven't done it myself (yet!) so I can't give you specific guidance.
    Good luck!!

Has anybody else gotten lightheaded easier after surgery? I’m 25 days post-op and have noticed that I get lightheaded a lot easier if I stand up quickly or from a squatting position.

fluid goals first, then Protein because getting dehydrated is seriously harmful and you just cannot get caught up on your own once you are in it. I also keep an insulated cup on my nightstand and drink during the night every night. I found the clear Protein Drinks easier to get down than the thick shakes - like Isopure ready-made blue raspberry and I would make sf crystal light lemonade and split the Isopure half and half w the lemonade. One 20oz bottle of Isopure is 40grams of protein - pricey but it's only for a couple weeks until you can get solid protein.
