I love clothes shopping now. It’s been a long time since I fit in every piece of clothing I bring into the fitting room. It’s no longer about what I can get on, but simply what I like! At a size 10/12, (from a 22/24) I can shop at pretty much any clothing store I want.

I am just using unflavoured Protein Powder and adding it to my drinks/soups etc has no nasties and isn't horribly sweet like all the Protein Shakes

Check with your team/insurance policy to make sure your approval will not be affected by weightloss prior to surgery. Otherwise, they may suggest you start now anyway.
    Congratulations in advance 💜

Take measurements. i take them once a month: breast, chest (just under the boobs), waist, hips, both thighs, both calves, both upper arms, neck.
Several times in months I lost less, I lost more inches and vice versa. Its weird, but it helps to know I'm still on the right track.

Fluffy Grandma reacted to NYJenn in Hair loss & Biotin when did you start taking it?
I’ve heard you have to really start taking Biotin during the pre-op stage. Otherwise it only helps with regrowth, not the hair that’s falling out.

My suggestion is not to buy a ton of anything because your tastes and tolerance to some foods may change after the surgery. Good luck!

Exactly! Mine was abnormal so they did an echocardiogram/stress test. Other than a slight murmur it was all good. WLS surgery went on as planned.

Fluffy Grandma reacted to MikeIL in Why are my sheets all bunched up beneath me? Oh wait, that's just my butt
So I'm 13 days away from my 6 month anniversary and I'm 114 pounds down.
I have to ask...how do y'all deal with the excess skin?
I sometimes sit down and I feel like I sat on a throw someone left on the sofa. I lay down in bed and sometimes I have to lift my butt and pull my skin out so it's flat. When I brush my teeth my upper arms applaud me as they slap against my armpits.
I realize that without a skin removal surgery it's something we have to live with, but for those who are a year or two out, and haven't had a reduction surgery, does your skin firm up on its own at all?

Fluffy Grandma got a reaction from DanaC84 in Fingernails tearing off bad 6.5 months out RNY
Ditto on the collagen peptides. My nails were tearing like a newborn at 5/6 months. Between my Water, Vitamins, extra Biotin and this stuff they’ve come back nice and strong. I started taking it because my face was looking lined and dry. Adding the collagen has really helped with that too. There’s only so much you can do but every little bit helps.

I’m certainly no expert ( sleeved yesterday) but you might try collagen peptides. It’s a taste free powder and you can add it to anything. I feel like it’s helped me with hair and nails- but that may be because I WANT it to be helping. Maybe read up on it and see if it’s worth trying.

Fluffy Grandma got a reaction from KimB7811 in Was anyone else told not to shave their legs 4 days before surgery?
That is weird. I shaved my legs the previous day vs that morning because I didn’t know if the stuff they give you to shower with would burn. But four days? That doesn’t make sense to me

My instruction say do not shave the area where the incision will be and do not apply perfume, deodorant, lotion, makeup or chemical where incision will be.

I have always thought so,anything to smooth out a very emotionally and difficult time, do you feel like
she is saying, even though she might. not phrase it this way "You haven't suffered enough, because you're fat, you have, not suffered sufficently yet!" That's the way many people in the outside🌎 act, like obesity is a choice we all made to cause them trouble and have our appearance to. only repulse them. My mama , bless her 💕and may she rest in,peace, overfed me as a baby. At 1 year,i was 35 inches tall and 36 pounds, where many people wear t- shirts that say BORN TO BE WILD, well mine literally can say BORN TO BE FAT, see at the end of WW II the thought was "Fat Babies are Healthy Babies" medicine has changed its mind since then, but I still am riding that tornado's tail all these years later. But day by day I slowly get thinner, I am going to Rock the Silver and Golden Citizen. 🌎right back on its heels! Varoom Varoom 🚕!

I'd just tell her that I have put a lot of thought and research into this decision and that I would love to have her support but if she simply can't support me then to please keep her opinions to herself because I don't need that stress on top of having surgery.
And of course you always have support here

Fluffy Grandma reacted to Matt Z in How long before you went back to work?
I took 2 months off, for each surgery (band in 2010 and the revision in 2018) best thing I did. Yes, physically you COULD be ready to go back, but there is an emotional aspect as well as the diet changes that keep happening up until the 2 month mark or so. I found it was so much better to focus on me and getting to know what I needed post op and all the changes we have to make with our new set up, than to rush back to work too soon and deal with the eventual emotional breakdown over food. Your mileage may vary. But I found 2 full months worked quite well for me.
